25.01.2022 beats pulling the handle for each impression!

25.01.2022 Good job. Love it

23.01.2022 The Linton Forgery has two old Forges, the oldest has a bellows made in Birmingham England by John C Onions Established 1650. In 1862 they won an award at the Paris Exhibition for their Portable Bellows! Patented in 1863. Neil Wishart who settled on the Linton Goldfields, brought it with him from Scotland and built the Forge.

20.01.2022 We are a long way from the finishing line, but no 2 Forge is levelled awaiting new base pad in 2019!

19.01.2022 Some German made Founders type, I picked up cheaply. Beautiful face. Not as easy to compose with the serifs as bold.

19.01.2022 Remember that now defunct company Seligson and Clair Ian, Terry, Gary etc

16.01.2022 LOLA is on again and the Forge will be fired up and the presses rolling. Sunday 27th 11.00 to 4.00pm. All welcome.

07.01.2022 Very happy man today, had a knock on the door and a gentleman introduced himself an said he had his Fathers Letterpess Printing Manual and would i like it!!. Its a complete Guide to the art of Lettepress Printing and the first pages relate to the operation of the Albion Hand Press, this was for first year apprentices. Everything is there Plattens and Cylinders inks and mixing and much more.

06.01.2022 Unusual type and tin thanks Kylie Turville

06.01.2022 Here is trap, I bought a Ludlow type setter a while ago and in transport the stick fell out and was lost. Should have taken it out! Anyway at the Melb Print Auction bought a box full! More than you could poke a stick at

05.01.2022 Well working only on weekend and the odd evening, No one Forge has been Repaired no new stuff just as it it was. I think it’s usable the bellows work fine! However need someone else to do it ! If it’s 35 deg C outside it’s 40 inside that’s without the Forge going!

04.01.2022 Nice piece of engineering.

03.01.2022 Never seen one of these before anywhere!

03.01.2022 Purchased some old Xmas letterpress blocks at a closing down sale in Ballarat. Most two colour gift tags and cards and eight identical blocks to make up a sheet of gift wrap. Unfortunately I do not have a press big enough (yet)!

03.01.2022 Conisbee Treadle. Nearing completion. just need the roller, have the shafts so should be relatively straight forward!!
