25.01.2022 Kandos School of Cultural Adaptation is an artist cooperative that gets its name and something of its raison d'être out of Ian Milliss' artwork for Cementa13, "...Welcome to Kandos". For the last three years KSCA has been engaging with the regenerative farming movement in regional NSW, applying the conceptual and communicative strategies of contemporary art to the change that farmers are attempting to make to the culture of how we farm the land. Cementa has been an enthusiastic supporter and partner in their efforts and see their latest project "An Artist, A Farmer and a Scientist walk into a bar..." as paradigmatic of how contemporary art might engage with regional communities and culture. Here is a report from Artist/Scientist Imogen Semmler on how scientists, artists and farmers deal with the complexity of ecological systems. See more

08.01.2022 Yesterday, Stage 4 were given the pleasure of participating in the Artist, Farmer and Scientist workshop. Our guest presenters discussed how art and science wo...rk together. Stage 4 enjoyed looking at technology used to measure moisture content in soil and represent the data using sound and light. They also conducted an experiment focusing on creating a model of humus - the organic content of soils - using agar, food colouring and other materials. We additionally previewed a model representing soil content that will be turned into an artist sculptural installation. See more
