06.06.2022 April Challenge Results When something seems so simple but can be so hard! Last month we challenge members to improve their balance by standing on one leg with their eyes closed for the accumulative time of 30min per leg. ... We had a few people commit to starting the challenge but only 1 member who achieved the target! Congratulations Erin for putting in the time and effort to get this challenge done.

25.01.2022 NEW CLASS - FRIDAY’S 5.30pm As we re-open Friday afternoons we are also excited to announce that we will also be running a new class at 5.30pm which will also start Friday 15th November 2020. This new class is called STRENGTHZEN and is the brain child of Isabel.... This class is a fusion of yoga and strength training and aims to build dynamic and static strength, balance and stability. Solely through body weight you will work your arms, legs, shoulders, back, and core. It´s perfect for anyone who wants to build up strength and get fit without lifting weights and gain more body control and awareness. Basically mindful calisthenics.

24.01.2022 November’s Challenge Results Novembers goal was to ride 100km by the end of the month (to the Gabba). It was a lengthy commitment and meant members were having to spend a lot of extra time in the gym to get this one done. We had 7 legends who managed to smash it out and hit the 100km so a big congratulations to these guys for hitting the set target.... Special mentions go to: Brendan Kelbie - 180km for the month is a monster effort on top of all his other training and is the distance in a full ironman Peter Duncombe - for hitting the 100km goal first and for reaching a total of 150km in a month Great job guys, keep up the great work!

This month we are challenging members to learn a new skill in skipping and to do this we are introducing 3 different levels for members to achieve depending on their current abilities. Goal 1: 1000 skips in total for the month - for those who can’t skip or aren’t comfortable with it... Goal 2: 100 double unders in total for the month - this is for those that can skip Goal 3: 10 double under in a row - this is for those that can do a few double unders but not one after the other Don’t just stop at one goal either, if you achieve one before the end of the month it’s time to level up! 22.01.2022 September’s Goal Results Our dish hold proved to be a difficult one with only 3 people successfully reaching 20min for the month. The dish hold is a very challenge exercise for the core and is very hard to do for long periods of time. We think 90sec was the longest hold in one effort! ... Congratulations to Brendan, Taye & Kate for hitting September’s goal. Not only did these 3 reach 20min but Brendan and Taye got over 30min while Kate got to 25min. Massive effort and great to see so many others trying a new and difficult exercise!

22.01.2022 The boys smashing out some time on this months goal! September’s Goal This month we are challenging members to improve their core strength and endurance by setting the goal of hitting 20min (in total) doing a dish hold. ... A dish hold is a core exercise (a tough one at that) which pushes you to hold yourself slightly flexed away from the floor with your body straight. Think of a lower and straighter version of a V-Sit, and harder too. Break it up how ever you need to, work on your form and your positioning and give it a go. Good luck!

21.01.2022 Push ups are a fantastic strength exercise for your upper body that can be done so many different ways. Another great thing is they can be made easier or harder to suit your current abilities. No matter what level you do your push ups though there are some key points to focus on to make sure you are doing them with the best technique possible. Doing so will mean you get more out of the exercise and you won’t develop pain or poor movement patterns along the way.

21.01.2022 December Challenge Results We challenged members in the last month of the year to do as many pull ups possible over the month, or simply achieve a pull up for the first time. The trainers had it out and our members all worked hard to achieve their goal. It was so good to see so many people improve so much and even achieve their first pull up. 20.01.2022 August Challenge Results In August we set the goal for members to hit 10km on the rower. We had 11 members complete the goal which was awesome to see for our first challenge back since re-opening. ... We also had a couple of efforts that exceeded the 10km goal from Kim who doubled the goal with 20km. Followed closely by Kate with 19.5km and Taye at 17.5km. 10.01.2022 October’s Challenge Results Last month we challenged members to improve on their skipping fitness and abilities. We set 3 different levels for people to achieve based around what their abilities were. We had members who went from not being able to skip at all to skipping consistently and those who could skip doing double under’s, some of them consecutively.... Well done to all of those that pushed them selves to try something new. It was great to see so many people hit their targets over the month. Special mentions go to: Gil Wise - who managed to hit a massive 40 double under’s in a row. Brendan Kelbie - for smashing both skipping targets and reaching up to 14 double unders in a row Gary Kelbie - for hitting his skipping target and pushing himself to learn how to do double under’s even though he wasn’t much of a ‘skipper’ (in his words).

Here are a couple of quick and easy things you can do to promote efficient movement, support good alignment and reduce chances of injury and disfunction. Having a healthier foot/ankle will also improve your lower body movements such a squats, lunges etc which will help lead to increased performance. 1. Calf Massage/Release - Massage your calf muscle (the whole thing) with a tennis ball or massage ball for up... to 60sec 2. Foot Massage - Massage the sole of your foot for up to 60sec 3. 04.01.2022 Doing exercises ‘properly’ and with correct technique is important, but when you are starting out or learning new movements you not only have to be patient but you have to expect to be a little off the mark to begin with. ‘Exercises’ & exercising is a skill that needs to be learned and then practiced over and over again to be improved before mastering. So don’t use ‘I can’t do that with perfect technique’ as an excuse to not do them. Be patient, practice it and move towards ...improving every week.
