25.01.2022 Want to win a $100 gift voucher to spend at The Local? Get on down to the Green Ant Craft Fair this weekend at the Darwin Showgrounds and vote for your favourite decoration on the Christmas tree to be in the running to win! Stallhholders are decorating the tree with a decoration they've made and there will be two free stalls awarded to the winning entries - one to be judged by Kate Gosling and the other to be judged by you - our wonderful customers.... You can also roll your Christmas shopping list while you're there and support local creatives at the same time. And if that wasn't enough, there's a variety of great food, coffee, cold drinks and icecream. Two air conditioned pavilions, loads of fantastic choices. Saturday & Sunday, 9am - 4pm $2 entry, kids get in free

21.01.2022 Kate Gosling popped in to the Green Ant Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday to judge the Christmas decoration making competition. I don't envy her having to choose! I'll let her tell you who won and will receive a free stall at next year's craft fair! We also had a people's choice award, which we'll be announcing soon and a draw from the voters... Congratulations Helen, who won a $100 gift voucher to spend at The Local!

18.01.2022 In the interests of community safety, we have decided to shut up shop for a little while. It's been a hard call to make but these are truly exceptional circumstances. We hope to open our doors again as soon as it is safe. If you've got credit on a gift card please get in touch and we'll do our very best to connect you with the artist of your choice or help you find something wonderful. We'll get busy and post some of our artist's lovely work for you while we're closed. So folks, stay at home. Stay safe. We look forward to seeing you again. Hopefully soon. 16.01.2022 The Local turns one this week! It's gone from a twinkle in the eyes of a couple of artists, exhausted after a long hot day at a market, to a thriving little hub of creativity at the heart of Parap. We return 100% of money from sales to our participating artists. In our first 12 months that has totalled just over $380,000.... Thanks Darwin, for supporting our little business and especially for supporting all the artists within our walls. They're a pretty amazing bunch and make sure that The Local is always filled with amazing things. Here's to another year!

14.01.2022 The very talented Ingrid Gersmanis has been busy ... because everyone needs a canine pal during lockdown! These puppies all need new homes. You can find them and more at The Local - trading again from this Saturday 9 May.

14.01.2022 It seems that creativity is flourishing as we look for new ways to connect in the crazy new landscape of our lives at home. While some of us find the long days at home tedious or lonely, others are finding time for old or new projects or hobbies that there just hadn’t been a space for. We reckon laughter, long phone calls, connection with nature and creativity are some of the biggest things that are going to get us all through this. We’d love to hear what’s sustaining you rig...ht now. The Local might be closed for now, but we have no intention of going away! We are as keen as ever to keep supporting our wonderful artists and connecting people who need beautiful things with the beautiful people who make them. We’ve asked our artists to send us photos showing us the creative things they’re doing at home and we look forward to sharing them here with you. We’re also updating our website so it’s easy for you to find specific artists while we are closed. Stay safe. Stay home. Keep calm and carry on creating. See more
