19.01.2022 This Nuytsia floribunda (The Christmas tree) or Moodjar to Noongar people. One of the most amazing trees you will ever see. This Western Australian native tree blooms and produces a dazzling display of vivid yellow/orange flowers around December. It gives rise to its common name of the Western Australian Christmas Tree. It can only be found in the south-west of our state from the Kalbarri National Park on the north-west coast to Cape Le Grande on the south-east coast. ... Look out for them this time of year as we head into summer on your way up to Kalbarri. The showy orange flowers have been likened to ‘a bushfire without smoke’. When heathlands are destroyed to create pastures, Christmas trees are often left standing because of their beauty, and they carry on by feeding off grass.
