23.01.2022 The Trudy Crowley Foundation supports cancer patients in our region from diagnosis, to treatment, and ongoing support of patients and their families into the future. The Trudy Crowley Foundation accepted a grant cheque to the value of $24,500 to purchase a vehicle to be used by the regions only Ovarian Palliative care nurse to transport patients from their homes to various hospitals and other locations.



23.01.2022 Progress on moving the Orange Sky Australia laundry pod to it's new permanent home in Mackay at St Vincent De Paul (Juliet Street)! Installation is now complete, and ready to be commissioned! Orange Sky Australia accepted a cheque earlier this year from Mackay Community Foundation to the value of $10,000 to assist in the installation of the first ever Orange Sky laundry pod in Australia! The laundry pod has three washers, three dryers and six orange chairs. Mackay Community members who are experiencing homelessness & doing it tough, can wash their clothes, sit down and have a genuine chat with someone who is ready to listen without judgement.

16.01.2022 Orange Sky Australia offers a free mobile laundry and shower services for people experiencing homelessness across Australia. Orange Sky has been operating in the Mackay community since October 2017, providing friends doing it tough with around 1,200 loads of washing and 3,300 hours of genuine and non-judgemental conversation. Orange Sky Australia accepted a cheque to the value of $10,000 to assist in the installation of the first ever Orange Sky laundry pod in Australia. The laundry pod has three washers, three dryers and six orange chairs. 16.01.2022 Last year, the Mackay Community Foundation donated $50,000 to the Mackay Women's Centre allowing them to support more families affected by domestic & family violence by introducing a new community position this year. 13.01.2022 headspace Mackay is about making sure the young people of Mackay have the best support, information, and services for their health and wellbeing including physical health, mental health, drug and alcohol issues, employment and education support. Headspace provide FREE confidential health services for young people aged 12 - 25 across Mackay region. Jason Pelcher (left) and Shane Sturdy from Headspace accepted a cheque to the value of $10,000, to assist in funding resources to deliver a program called Headspace Connections. This program will provide students in years 7-12 within the Mackay Region the tools, skills, knowledge to learn how to provide Mental Health First Aid to their friends, through completing the teen Mental Health First Aid Course.

The motto of the Mackay Community Foundation is give where you live and Steve Lowry has delivered this in spades over 17 years as one of the founding board members. Thankyou for your outstanding contribution Steve. You will be missed, but the work you have created and lead for so many years will carry on. What a legacy.

12.01.2022 Every year Mackay Community Foundation is proud to give back to community groups within the region that work tirelessly to support our region. We had an overwhelming response to this year’s grant application - Thank you to all that applied. Congratulations to the following recipients of this years Mackay Community Foundation grants! We will be posting in the weeks to come with these incredible community projects that will be put into motion as a result of these grants.

12.01.2022 selectability is a not-for-profit, community mental wellbeing and suicide prevention service supporting the people and communities of northern, central and western Queensland. Chris Attard from selectability accepted the $20,000 grant cheque from Mackay Community Foundation to assist in funding the infrastructure of the Mackay Bike Shed which will hopefully be positioned behind the current Horizon Clubhouse. This will enable the rollout of the On Your Bike for Mental Health Program, in support of mental wellbeing.

12.01.2022 This year, Mackay Community Foundation gifted $74,500 in funding to five incredible community organisations. Among those five organisations is the Trudy Crowley Foundation, who received a grant to go towards a car for Nurse Rosie Stannard to visit & transport patients. 10.01.2022 Thank you to BOQ Mackay City and Melissa Green for their ongoing support of the MCF. We accepted a cheque for $5,000 from Melissa last month that will be invested in the corpus to continue to provide a growing income for the future of the needy and vulnerable of our community.

10.01.2022 selectability is a not-for-profit community mental wellbeing and suicide prevention service, supporting the people and communities of northern, central and western Queensland. Recently Selectability received a $20,000 grant cheque from Mackay Community Foundation to assist in funding the fit-out of the Mackay Bike Shed. This will enable the rollout of the 'On Your Bike for Mental Health Program' which will allow physical activity to be incorporated into their non-clinical service offering! See below for some photos taken at the launch of the program as part of Queensland Mental Health Week activities. The launch of the program was successful with between 60 and 70 people in attendance, many of whom were previously unknown to selectability.

09.01.2022 Nick Bennett and Frances Easton of the Mackay Community Foundation board met with Chris Bugeja and Paul Hannay of Wisely Group. Wisely Group is a locally owned business that employs over 500 people, and passionate about giving back to the community. The Mackay Community Foundation have been regularly meeting with local businesses to help them better understand the Foundation and obtain ideas to to further build the Foundation for our community. 06.01.2022 Aboriginal &Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (ATSICHS Mackay Ltd) provides a comprehensive primary health and medical service delivering culturally appropriate quality (three year AGPAL Accredited Service) health care and support to an estimated indigenous population of around 6,000 people. Frances Easton & Nick Bennet, got the pleasure to meet Komil Whiteley of ATSICHS Mackay Ltd who accepted a grant cheque for $10,000 to assist in funding a Washing Machine, Dryer, and much needed shelving and storage for their Clothing Closet Project. The projects objective is to provide free clothing to people in need who reside in the Mackay region.

02.01.2022 selectability recently received a $20,000 grant from Mackay Community Foundation for their project. Read on below to see what they had to say about the grant and it's impact: "Thanks to the generosity of the Mackay Community Foundation, we have been able to fit out the location selectability secured for the Bike Shed at the rear of 11 Wood Street. The fit out included signage, new bikes & helmets, spare parts & equipment for the workshop and the fabrication of a bike cage to... store the donated bikes and bike parts in." "Bike rides and bike maintenance activities have now been incorporated into the program offerings of both the Horizon Clubhouse and Mental Health Hub, and we are experiencing significant interest from members of the community who attend these programs. In support of the Bike Maintenance activity, Corry’s Cycles will generously donate one of their bike technicians to run the activity to pass on their skills and wisdom."
