22.01.2022 With the first case of Covid in 10 months, bush fires, and now flooding in Carnarvon, it's been a wild week for us in WA. With Carnarvon getting nearly their entire annual rainfall in 24 hours, the Gascoyne River which usually flows underground, is now quickly filling up, and set to overflow over the course of the next couple of days. Forecasts are that the river could reach up to 6.7 metres by tomorrow which will mean plantations will be flooded and Carnarvon will be fully ...isolated by road. What does this mean for you guys? Fresh produce supply will be cut off from Carnarvon, until water levels are down and roads that may have been destroyed by flood water are fixed. This is extremely unfortunate for families like ours that are in the middle of harvest. Fruit left on the trees will be damaged by the water, and fruit that is picked will be stuck on the wrong side of the road. And this is exactly why we started the Mango Project. As all of us have learnt in this past year, life does things that are uncontrollable, and the only option we have is to adapt and innovate. The Mango Project is designed so that when nature takes a toll, we take control. Wasted fruit will be able to make a difference not just for our skin, but for our farmers and our planet. And now more than ever it is time to support these local WA farmers. Find us with our mangoes and skincare, alongside other farmers selling Carnarvon produce at The Farmers Market on Manning tomorrow morning from 7.30-12.30. And don't forget to wear a mask!

21.01.2022 Update on the farm: Most of the water has receded and we can finally start picking again. Unfortunately, a lot of our fruit didn't quite make it through the flood. Many of the mangoes have gone overripe and as a result, we can't sell them to the supermarkets. ... We figured that instead of selling them cheap locally or letting them go to waste, we would offer them to people who have been affected by the fires around Perth. Some went to the Parkville Tavern who will make a dessert out of them tonight, and the rest were distributed between Gidgegannup IGA (for people who lost their homes to pick up directly), and the Noble Falls Tavern (to be part of free buffet meals for families). It was gorgeous to see how everyone had come together to help out, offering their time and services to those affected. It's moments like these that we get to see that humankind is made from kindhumans, and that with rain comes a rainbow! #carnarvonflood2021 #perthfires #mangoes #spreadlove #wereinthistogether
