24.01.2022 Starting a New Business? How to Write your Business Plan. A business plan is a written road map created by you of how your business will operate from the day is starts to the length of time you put on its evolution. "You can probably cover everything you need to convey in 30 to 40 pages. If your plan is more than 40 pages long, you're probably not being specific." I suggest these 8 items need to be in your business plan:... 1. Title Page. Start with name of your business, ideally it should identify exactly what you do. Coming up with the right name can be harder than you think. 2. Executive Summary. Is an extensive summary of what the business plan includes; company description, the problem your business is solving for its clients/customers, identifies the solution your offering and why are you setting up the business? 3. Business Description. You need to describe the type of business you want to start? What does your industry look like? What will it look like in the future? 4. Market Strategies. You need to identify who is your target market, and how can you best sell to this market? 5. Competitive Analysis. Identify who are your competitors. Research the strengths and weakness of your competitors and how will you create a unique offer to outsell them? 6. Design and Development Plan. What is your product or service and how will it develop? Then, create a budget for that product or service. 7. Operations and Management Plan. How does the business function on a daily basis? Whats needed to run and operate the business? 8. Finance Options. Where is the money coming from to start your business? When? How? Ideally you should create financial projections to help you plan for the growth of your business. I suggest you can spend between one to three pages per question. Keep in mind, your business plan is an editable document and as your business matures over time, you should be continually updating it. Good luck and enjoy the journey. #themarketingbusinesscoach #businessadvice #businessplan #business #coach #needhelp #advice #entrepreneur #simonbowdenstrategicmarketing

21.01.2022 Do you ask for referrals? Can you remember the last time you received a referral from a friend? You probably walked away with a huge smile knowing that the referral was a good quality opportunity to do business with a new customer. So what’s the big hang-up in asking friends, family for referrals? I don’t understand why business owners don’t do it? I often say to clients of mine, ask for referrals. If you don’t, you won't receive. I remember a few years ago I was working with... a client that owned a Snap Printing franchise. He has since sold the business, retired to enjoy life. However, Bill (not his real name) had a problem asking people for referrals. In one of our coaching sessions I set him a task of asking family members for referrals. I gave him a week and I wanted to see five referrals. I didn’t mind where or who gave the referrals, but the rule was they needed to be generated by a family member. The results were amazing! Bill rang me everyday of that entire week describing the types of referrals he'd received. I asked him how he felt? He replied by saying FANTASTIC! The moral of this example is If you don’t ask, you won't receive Why not give it a try and set yourself a weekly goal? #businessadvice #businesstips #success #referrals #family #businessgrowth #businesscoach #themarketingbusinesscoach

19.01.2022 Helping people in business has been the key to my success. Ultimately having a successful business is all about helping others. If someone has a problem that’s causing them pain and you have the product or service that offers the solution they require, that’s it! I think its all about ATTITUDE! If you have a good attitude and genuinely want to help people succeed, you’ll find that you’ll naturally attract people to you. However, to be successful you must listen and provide so...lutions to their problems. For those in BNI, you’ll probably recognise this as The Givers Gain Philosophy. If I give business to you, in turn you’ll want to give business to me. The more solutions you can provide to people with problems will ultimately make your role in selling so much easier. Never forget... success in business begins with HELPING PEOPLE. And, I course I call that good business! #success #businesscoaching #helppeople #successinbusiness #coaching #smallbusiness #entrepreneur #businessowner #goodbusiness #BNI #findingasolution #business #giversgain
17.01.2022 Editorial opportunity with suppliers or clients? When was the last time you were reading a client or suppliers newsletter? If you're like me I receive them all the time and only read very few. Why? Because the content is not always relevant. Unfortunately they get filled with stories about themselves, how good they are, what achievements they've just won and the owners favourite recipe. However, some very switched on business owners give their readers compelling information t...o help or educate their readers. A good example is a newsletter I receive from an Accountant, Paul Raye. Paul sends a monthly newsletter with headlines like Don’t forget and Just a Reminder or even better still, You must act on this before the 30th June. Of course I’m going to read it. If it effects my business, I’m going to read it! Here’s an idea? Why not ask the producer of your favourite newsletter if you can supply an article to be included in the next issue. If you're a good client or supplier to them, their answer will probably be yes. Remember, by supplying an article like this will not cost anything and will hopefully open new marketing opportunities for you. Don’t forget to drop off a nice bottle of wine next time you are passing to say thank you. See more

12.01.2022 Have you tried Piggyback Advertising with another like minded Business? How do I do this, I hear you ask? I suggest you make yourself a coffee and sit down with a printout of your current client or supplier list. You need to be thinking clearly for this exercise. Let’s identify a client of yours that you are currently working with that has a similar target market. What I mean by this is, your client sells a similar product or service that you do. For example, I sell marketi...ng ideas to clients and a good friend of mine, Mr Glenn (Yum Cha) Biclar is a Video Producer. We have a similar target market for our product or service. We are not competitors, but we appeal to the same audience. Therefore it makes good business sense to create a mail out where we share real estate space on the flyer and therefore share the cost in production and distribution. The major benefit to your business is the 50% cost saving in finding a co business to advertise with. Good Luck... #themarketingbusinesscoach #moneysavingtips #goodbusiness
11.01.2022 Who said you can’t buy a used filing cabinet? When I moved into my new office, I looked for furniture in a red, black and white theme. So I drove around to all the local office furniture places searching for what I wanted. Of course I could have done this simply by searching the internet, but sometimes you just need to visualise how it’s going to look. I found a desk that would suit and a red chair, but that was it! I needed a bookcase, I needed filing cabinets, matching chai...rs to complete the fit out. A friend suggested I search on Gumtree, a website for people selling unwanted items. I found two brand new black filing cabinets and a white bookcase that would suit the office perfectly. Instead of paying $350 each for the filing cabinets, I paid $60 for one and $100 for the other which came with a free white bookcase. It’s amazing what you can find if you’re prepared to search. 08.01.2022 Many people have been asking me, How do I continue marketing my business during COVID-19?. Well firstly, it’s a must for you to continue marketing your business during COVID-19. It’s a good chance your prospects and customers are spending more time scrolling through social media while in lockdown at home. If you remain positive and helpful on your social media platforms, it will lend more credibility to you and your business. Consider these points when marketing your busine...ss during COVID-19: 1. Show your audience how you’re providing resources, education and support to your employees and customers. 2. Embrace your leadership role and provide regular updates on your progress and business survival plan. It could be helpful to others. 3. Promote your business partners by providing tips and insights into what you’re witnessing in a Covid-19 environment. 4. Offer support and advice to other business owners that may need help. Offering a life-line for those in trouble could go a long way. 5. Ensure your social media posts are sympathetic to those suffering through the Covid-19 crisis. 6. And above all, be patient! #themarketingbusinesscoach #businesstips #COVID19 #helpingothers #OfferSupport #beyourownboss #advice #marketingtips #marketing #businesscoach
07.01.2022 This morning Tony Neale and myself met with Reena Strehle who talked about Relationships, Culture and Wellbeing on our Lets Chat podcast. It’s interesting to hear from another person’s perspective What does it mean to be grateful. Thankfully, it doesn’t mean convincing yourself of some false notion that everything’s going to be alright. Living your life with gratitude means choosing to focus your time and attention on what you appreciate. We know that being appreciated is g...ood for us. It makes us feel good. It soothes our minds by connecting us with the wonderfully ordinary things that we might otherwise take for granted. In what way does expressing gratitude change your outlook? Might there be a connection between gratitude and happiness? I’ll let you be the judge #podcast #businesscoach #letschat #wellbeing #gratitude #culture #relationships #trust #mindfulnessatwork #help #healthcoach #grateful #businessadvice #themarketingbusinesscoach
