22.01.2022 :: :: According to legend, Buddha woke up before dawn every morning and carried his bowl through the streets. Local people would place food in the bowl as a donation and at the end he would eat whatever he had been given. ::... This has now developed into a series of deep-rimmed dishes overflowing with vibrant food that included a portion of grain, a@smattering of protein and an assortment of vegetables, both raw and cooked. :: The key idea is a nourishing meal that provides bites of many flavours ....... plus the more colourful and pretty the better! :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: #buddhabowl #pokebowl #nourishbowl #nutritiousfood #nutritiousanddelicious #nutritiousmeal #veganmeals #vegetarianmeals #pescatarianmeals #proteinandfibre #prettyfood #variety #healthylifestyle #healthyfood #quickandeasymeals #nutritiontips #whateverisinyourfridge #dietitian #dietitianperth #perthdietitian #themedicalnutritionclinic

22.01.2022 I have been asked many times if low fat milk has added sugar....... the answer is no! :: lactose is the natural sugar of milk and it is grouped under the blanket term ‘sugars’ on the food label :: when the fat is removed from whole milk, you concentrate what remains; this may result in the sugar, protein, calcium and sodium content rising a little.......the small increase in sugar is due to this concentration not added sugars... :: so there is no reason to avoid the natural, simple sugars in milk. Milk is also packed full of nutrients like calcium, phosphorous, B vitamins, potassium, vitamin D and protein :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: #milk #dairy #sourceofcalciumandprotein #easytouse #healthyeating #nutritiontips #affordablefood #weightlosstips #wholefooddiet #healthysmoothies #dietitian #nutritionist #perthdietitian #dietitianperth #factsnotfear #themedicalnutritionclinic See more

21.01.2022 :: :: Portion size is an important tool for developing a healthy, balanced diet :: Larger portion sizes may cause us to over eat plus a large portion of one food may result in us missing out on nutrients provided by other foods... :: The serving sizes pictured are from the ‘Grains and Cereals’ food group. Within this group it is important to consume serves from an assortment of these foods to ensure you get a range of fibre, minerals and vitamins :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: #servingsize #portionsize #portiondistortion #nutritionanddietetics #nutritiontips #healthychoices #weightloss #weightlosstips #cerealsandgrains #foodgroups #healthylifestyle #nutrients #balanceddiet #totalhealth #dietitian #dietitianperth #perthdietitian #nutritionist #themedicalnutritionclinic See more

17.01.2022 Good food should be easy. Keeping things simple helps us to make healthy food choices, especially when at home. :: The Bliss Ball has been around for a long time and there are now many variations, but the recipe doesn’t need to get too complicated . :: The 5-ingredients in the bliss balls pictured are often cupboard staples however ingredients such as chia seeds, cinnamon and a dash of maple syrup can be added if you feel inclined ... :: To make the bliss balls you simple blend the almonds, pitted dates, cacao and melted coconut oil until well combined. Roll into balls and then roll in the desiccated coconut...... Easy! :: The high fibre, protein and fat content slow down the digestion of the bliss ball providing the body with a slow release of energy, especially perfect to combat that afternoon slump! :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: #blissballs #proteinballs#proteinballsrecipe #veganrecipes #plantbaseddiet #vegetarianrecipes #almonds #datesaredelicious #highenergysnacks #protein #highfibre #homefood #nutriciousanddelicious #healthylifestyle #nutritionist #nutritiontips #healthtips #goodbyehunger #dietitian #perthdietitian #dietitianperth #themedicalnutritionclinic See more

17.01.2022 #Repost @fineprintfood A detox or cleanse is not the answer Instead, the answer lies within you (literally!) Your liver and kidneys already work a treat when it comes to detoxifying your body All they need is a little time (and H2O!)

09.01.2022 Low-fat Greek yoghurt versus Coconut yoghurt . Coconut yoghurt is dairy-free, so suitable for vegans and people with milk allergies or intolerances. But just like coconut oil, coconut yoghurt is a high-kilojoule, high-saturated-fat choice. It also contains negligible calcium and is lower in protein than other types of yoghurt . From a nutritional perspective, low-fat greek yoghurt is jam-packed. It contains carbohydrate, B vitamins, calcium, potassium and is a good sou...rce of protein . Greek yoghurt also contains B-12, an important vitamin for vegetarians as they usually lack B-12 due to it naturally being found only in animal products, such as fish, meat and eggs . So if you love the taste of coconut yoghurt then do enjoy, however if you are looking for nutritional value, low-fat greek yoghurt is definitely the winner . . . . . . . . #yoghurt #greekyoghurt #coconutyoghurt #nutrition #proteinsources #b12 #dietadvice #weightlosstips #healthyfood #foodcomparison #healthylifestyle #dietitian #perthdietitian #dietitianperth #healthysnacks #nutritionist #themedicalnutritionclinic

07.01.2022 It has become quite difficult to identify the healthfulness of foods thanks to the crafty marketing of products . Marketing is very clever at creating a ‘health halo’ for products, which is often seen with vegetable chips . As you can see from the products pictured, terms such as natural, baked and gluten-free are used to create an impression of health... . The 3 examples provided are all energy dense and high in fats. The pea crisps do have a much higher protein content, however they also contain a very high amount of saturated fats! . The potato chips and Vege chips are both high in sodium. . So which one to choose? . These chips are not something you would want to be having frequently so if you are going to have them, choose the one you prefer best!! . . . . . . . . . #vegechips #labelreading #healthfacts #snacktips #nutritiontips #dietitiantips #diet #nutrients #weightlosstips #chips #healthylifestyle #dietitian #perthdietitian #dietitianperth #themedicalnutritionclinic See more

03.01.2022 :: Now the weather is starting to cool down, it is time to swap our smoothie bowls for a bowl of warm, comforting, delicious porridge! :: Porridge doesn’t have to be a stodgy and boring breakfast, there is a wide variety of toppings that can be used to add a wide array of taste and texture. ::... Nut butters such as almond, hazelnut or cashew give porridge a hearty depth and spices like cinnamon, nutmeg add yet another dimension. :: Honey, maple syrup or a light sprinkle of raw sugar can add a sweet touch as can banana, grated apple, thin slices of pear and blueberries....... the options are endless!! :: In addition to being the main ingredient of porridge, oats are a versatile wholegrain that offer various health benefits including lowering cholesterol, what’s not to love? :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: :: #porridgebowl #porridge #oatsforbreakfast #superfoodoats #wholegrain #healthbenefits #healthybreakfast #veganbreakfast #vegetarianbreakfast #plantbasedbreakfastideas #breakfastideas #comfortingfood #cholesterollowering #weightlosstips #nutritiontips #dietitian #dietitiantips #dietitianperth #perthdietitian #themedicalnutritionclinic See more
