24.01.2022 Just up the road from us if you fancy a bit more time away than a day trip. Why not!!??

24.01.2022 Looking beautiful after its first mow for the summer!! Hot today but a nice breeze is currently blowing which is keeping the garden a pleasant place to relax. Looking forward to a bit of a cooler week I must admit.

23.01.2022 Megalong Valley Tea Rooms is a great place for a spot of lunch, or just some tea and scones. This is the farm gate near their driveway looking north over the pa...ddock towards the escarpment. I like the late afternoon shadows creeping along. You should go visit the Tea Rooms, their food is great. 21.01.2022 People ask us all the time, "What do you DO down there when its wet?" I would- 1 - drive along to HARGRAVES lookout at the end of Shipley road to check out the overall view first. Even if its a bit misty you get a real sense of the different landscape that lies to the West rather than the East of the upper mountains. Its also a really nice wander out to the point. 2 - if the ORCHARD is open on Shipley Id pop in and grab some beautiful fresh, crunchy apples and a bottle of... their amazing juice. 3 - Id then head into the Valley itself where a slow drive around the bends gives a real different sense of the landscape. There are amazing views up through the rainforest up to the hanging cliffs. (Please let cars behind you pass when safe, they may need to get somewhere) 4 - a kilometre from where you start Megalong road youll get to a hairpin bend. On this bend is a small unassuming sign for MERMAIDS CAVE. Its a very short, and steep (my two year old climbed up by himself) walk that leads between two rock faces down into a grotto like amphitheater. 10 minutes of your life you definitely wont regret. 5 - if its really wet youll see waterfalls on the right hand side just past the following hairpin. Pretty dramatic the way it seems to pour out of the tree tops. 6 - COACHWOOD GLENN is another very family friendly stroll through the rainforest. Kids absolutely love this one. 7 - by this time youll probably need a coffee so pop in to MEGALONG TEAROOMS for a cup of our own blend Australian/organic/fair trade espresso. 8 - now you can head into the Valley propper, rolling Aussie countryside with old homesteads and churches, schools etc dotted along the road. 9 - if its not too wet you could go for a horse ride but if like me you just want to relax on your day off you could pop up to wineries (weekends only) . Sensational views from the adjoining properties and lots of wine to taste taboot. A very civilised way to watch the world go by. 10 - from here you can carry on driving for about another 15 minutes right back out into the national park and a huge camp/picnic area. But unless you have a reasonably robust 2 wheel drive or 4wd you may just opt for a meander along the creek at OLD FORD RESERVE. When its warmer the locals jump in the swim holes here but if its pouring some element of care should be taken doing this! 11 - depending on how long that all took youll probably be ready for lunch or some afternoon tea. I guess this is where youll pop into the TEAROOMS again and share with us your tales. HAVE A GREAT DAY/WEEKEND See more

13.01.2022 One of the (small) bonuses of this debacle is that Im temporarily allowed to sell wine to take away. From this weekend Ill also be adding to my range with more wines from all three Megalong Valley wine makers @Dryridge Estate @Megalong Creek Estate @Darragh Wines A great opportunity to shop local and support 3 fantastic businesses whove had the double disaster with massive grape damage due to the smoke during the recent fires. 13.01.2022 COVID POLICY UPDATE We have erected a large arrivals/check-in canopy. Everyone now has to check-in digitally, but dont worry we are here to help. We have a device on site for those who require. Our check-in company is completely independent and is in no way affiliated with any government agency. You can rest assured that your details remain completely safe whereby no one can access your login unless a directive is given by NSW health to retrieve said information. The govern...ment, I nor the company can access this information independently. We have acquired some water jars which we are able to sanitise quickly and efficiently so we are pleased to be able to again provide our 100% natural bore water for your enjoyment. Government policy is extremely clear that we are not able to allow tables to move from table to table. This is extremely important in the minimising of risk. Tables of more than 10 people are not permitted by law. If you arrive in a larger group you will not be allowed to enter. Please arrive at check-in in small groups so we can do our best to accommodate you. Lets all try to avoid a disaster. None of us want to be closed down or put back into lockdown. Together we can avoid it. Stay safe, keep your distance, use the sanitizer and most importantly remain calm. We can do this!! See more

09.01.2022 These are the current regulations and menus which will be run over the next week or two. These regulations will be adhered to very strictly. My opinion, your opinion are not important right now. Its all temporary and we all look forward to better times. I am not naturally a rude guy but people who try to push the boundaries in my opinion are being rude to me and my staff and I will appear rude with my responses. Were in this together, please be polite and respect me, my staff, and everyone else who is near you. Thank you, and I really do appreciate your support.

05.01.2022 Lookouts and reserves reopen in Blue Mountains Many Blue Mountains lookouts and reserves have been reopened today (14 January, 2020) now that conditions have im...proved and there is isolated and low bush fire activity in the area. The Erskine Creek, Linden Creek, Grose Valley and Ruined Castle fires are contained. NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) report that the majority of bush fire operations are now focused on aerial patrol with some limited ground operations continuing until late this week. Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill said: We do still have some reserve closures in place, for public safety, but I am happy to say that a large portion of the Blue Mountains is open for business. We need tourists to start visiting our area again. Visitors have stayed away over the traditionally busy Christmas New Year period, due to the threat of bush fires. But the immediate threat has now passed. All visitors to our City should still continue to follow the emergency service advisories, in case the situation changes in the coming weeks. Council has reopened reserves south of the Great Western Highway, from Katoomba through to Tablelands Road at Wentworth Falls. Council has also reopened reserves north of the Great Western Highway from Mount Victoria to Hawkesbury Heights. All Council sportsgrounds have also now reopened, except Warrimoo Oval that could still be used as a staging area. Access to this ground is restricted to the NSW RFS and Australian Defence Force only. Read the full Media Release: https://www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au//lookouts-and-reserves-reopen-
