23.01.2022 Hi Friends, 70 jobs cut from the News Division. Foreign Correspondent and Australian Story reduced. Changes to the emergency broadcasting department.1 And that'...s just the tip of the iceberg. Yesterday, we saw the real impact of the Morrison Government's crippling cuts to our national broadcaster, with 250 jobs on the chopping block. My thoughts are with the dedicated journalists and ABC staff who are losing their jobs. I signed the 120,000 strong petition to the Morrison Government, demanding that they restore funding to the ABC. But now we need more people to create an unprecedented public outcry. Scott Morrison and Communications Minister Paul Fletcher need to face immediate, fierce backlash to their decision to cut millions in funding from the ABC. The more people who sign the petition, the more impossible we'll be to ignore. The ABC provides life-saving services like emergency broadcasting in bushfires. They give us critical information during crises like the Coronavirus pandemic. They hold decision-makers to account and they expose injustices in all parts of our society. These cuts are not just an affront to the dedicated people who've devoted their careers to the ABC. It's an affront to all of us and our democracy. Scott Morrison and Communications Minister Paul Fletcher need to know how many people love the ABC. And they need to know that we will fight for it. The campaign is building to ensure that the ABC has it's funding restored in this year's budget, and the more people who join the campaign, the more chance we have of winning. Help build huge support for this campaign and for our national broadcaster, by bringing more people onboard. #abc
