23.01.2022 As this week draws to a close, we take this opportunity to acknowledge the importance of looking after our spiritual selves. Spiritual Care Week helps us to remember the key role that spiritual and pastoral caregivers play here at The Memorial Hospital. We have recently welcomed a new Chaplain to our Memorial Family, Rev Leanne Jenski, who has already made an impact on staff and patients alike. Regardless of a person's faith and cultural background we all have spiritual need...s. Our Chaplain is a unique piece of the Memorial puzzle. When things get tough Chaplains have time and skills to turn up, lurk with intent and to be a calming, supportive presence. When most staff have lots to do, Chaplains can be the ones who sit, stay, be with and accompany those finding life hard. #spiritualcareweek2020

11.01.2022 This week we acknowledge R U OK Day. We dedicate this week to checking in with you and encouraging you to check in with others. 2020 has brought many activities in our lives to a standstill, it has tested our patience and our strength as much as it has left our plans in disarray. Can you make a plan to check in on a friend, neighbour, colleague or... family member this week? Plan a phone call, a walk around the block, a chat over the fence, an email or a cuppa. #ruokday2020 Image credit The Creation of Adam from the Book of Genesis, Michaelangelo, 1508-1512, Sistene Chapel.

The piece titled, Our Place of Healing is an acknowledgement to Kaurna Country where The Memorial Hospital is located. It represents the impact hospitals have on their local community and the important roles all staff undertake, both collectively and individu...ally to optimise patient care and well-being on their journey back to full health. Tony is based in Adelaide, his works are heavily influenced by his cultural heritage, he is inspired by moments or things that make you pause stop and bring you into the present.
