09.01.2022 SOUMEN SEN is the clinical definition of cricket's Master Blaster. I'd put Soumen in the top 5 Wrens batsmen who can destroy team's on his day. Soumen has amazing hand-eye coordination and timing with audacious stokes. His 130 was phenomenal to watch. Congrats Soumen!

08.01.2022 ABDUL EBRAMINI had a cracking year with the ball. The good news for the Wrens is he had an even better year with the bat. His 106 was his first ever hundred and he did it with a stylish ground strokes and punishing boundaries. Muzza is one of the many talented allrounders we have at the Wrens. Well done Abdul.

Max is a beautifully clean striker of the ball. Max is also an emerging fast bowler who will develop nicely into a dominant force. Congrats big Max

03.01.2022 True story about Wrens keeper IAN ‘GLOVES’ JOHNSON. It’s Nov 1971 - after going through several trials I got selected to play for Central Metropolitan Area for an Intra State Carnival in Wagga.... So let’s set the scene: we played Saturday morning at Cammeray Oval and I was 36 no at end of the day. I then headed off to Central Station to get a train for Wagga and meet the team-mates. It was an interesting trip - the Ella twins ran amuck all night on the train. We arrived in Wagga and was billeted to a family who lived across the road from the Sale Yards. All I heard all night was MOOO! I did not play the first match as they put in some clown who had no idea how to keep (he never played again). Former Wren Greg Mo Matthews was our captain and he got selected after carnival to captain NSW. We made the semi final but got done. At that age I normally batted at 4 or 5 but the manager put me up to open and I did not let the team down. Nothing like smacking an opening bowler out of Turvey Park 1st ball. I learnt heaps after a week of cricket and keeping to Greg Mo Matthews. The Ella twins both played rugby for Australia and had so much natural talent. We jumped on the train again back to Sydney. I told the manager I was to get off at Central Train Station as that was closer to Cammeray and my parents would be waiting - but no he put me off at Strathfield. No mobile phones back then so when my parents were told I was at Strathfield my Dad must have broken so many road rules. He did get me back to Cammeray in time to continue batting and finished with 102 (my first ton) and was the only batter in my grade to get one. I also took most dismissals and most 6s.’ The Gloves I am wearing in photo were tailor made for me by Bert Oldfield. I played against Mo Matthews in other rep games. I wanted to be a pro-golfer but cricket rules. I am happy to still be playing and for Rydalmere although Greenwich is I think is where my heart is - 1000 dismissals later and 10,000 plus runs and can still compete.
