25.01.2022 WORKING HOLIDAY VISA HOLDERS: The PM today announced that if you wish to relocate to a different area of Australia to work in the agricultural industry, then you can do so ON CONDITION THAT YOU: * self isolate for 14 days immediately before you relocate; and... * register on www.health.gov.au as being in self isloation Employers will be required to check that you have completed the required period of self-isolation before commencing work. You must be able to reside in appropriate accommodation which observes the COVID-19 health and safety requirements, i.e. backpacker hostel dorms and crowded caravans are not an option.

22.01.2022 Many Australian visa holders are extremely concerned over the impact of the Novel Coronavirus, the Australian travel ban and the possible impact on their visa status and that of their families. 16.01.2022 New Zealand citizens Here's a summary of the financial support available to you if you lose your job due to the COVID-19 pandemic: New Zealanders on subclass 444 visas in Australia:... * If you arrived in Australia before 26 February 2001 then you are eligible to access Australian welfare payments and the JobKeeper payment (if your employer elects to register for the JobKeeper program). * If you arrived in Australia after 2001 then you can access the JobKeeper payment (if your employer elects to register for the JobKeeper program). * Those who have lived in Australia for 10 years or more also have access to JobSeeker payments for six months. The Government is advising those New Zealanders who are unable to support themselves through these provisions, work or family support should consider returning to New Zealand.

11.01.2022 We are in unprecedented times. As of 9:00PM tonight (AEDT) only Australian citizens, permanent residents, New Zealand citizens who are normally resident in Australia and immediate family member of an Australian citizen and permanent resident will be permitted to travel to Australia. An immediate family member is defined as a spouse, dependent or legal guardian. We are hearing about temporaray visa holders being turned away from overseas airports to fly to Australia on flight...s arriving after 9pm. 02.01.2022 I'm currently working with an Australian citizen and his de facto partner (non-citizen) to help return them both to Australia from overseas. They are in total lock down and very distressed. I am applying for an exemption for her to travel to Australia and apply for the required visa for her.
