25.01.2022 With a minimal palette comes opportunity to add subtle detailing in elements of a home. As part of our Flexi-Living Series in Ginninderry, this Hamptons style home relied on a light-tones but came to life through its distinct features across walls, cabinetry and the staircase.

23.01.2022 We love that ‘home’ can represent who we are, but it can also give us the opportunity to grow and change. For many, we have likely called a number of places ‘home’ throughout our lives, and experienced life in various ways. This year, we learnt to live differently, staying in the same place, yet changing our familiar rotations. ‘Home’ can be many places, it can be found by choice or not, and it can look or feel a certain way, but ultimately, ‘home’ is what/who/wherever we feel connected. 22.01.2022 INSPIRED // Nestled amongst a lush vegetation of greenery, this Palo Alto home was brought to life through its unique pairing of architecture and landscape. Each interior space has been designed to create a modern feel, while allowing the landscape around it to speak first. We admire the natural light that spills into this kitchen, shining light on the contrasting yellow cedar and olive green cabinetry. 22.01.2022 Inside the quaint suburb of Macarthur, we are bringing a modest three-bedroom home to life for a family of four. By opening the floorplan and creating flow-on spaces, the home will introduce bounteous natural light and room to move. 21.01.2022 All projects start with a common objective: to make some aspect of life easier. To us, creating ease and comfort in a home is fundamental to doing just that, but also, it is core to everything we do, be it a change of tap fittings, or a complete renovation. Our studio's purpose is to find the right solution for you, ensuring we take away any previous friction, and meet all your needs and budget at the same time.

20.01.2022 INSPIRED // For any homeowner short on space, their biggest concern is always lack of storage. For us, we know how to find ways to create space, while still maintaining a generous footprint inside a home. For this Victorian terrace house in London, storage was built in from floor to ceiling, using contrasting materials to make the volume of storage subtle in its appearance. Simple but practical, just the way we like things. + Architecture by 4 S Architecture... + Location London, United Kingdom + Photography by Henry Woide See more

19.01.2022 With an expanding team and fast-paced working culture, Ray White Belconnen wanted a mix of open-plan workstations, offices, collaboration zones, meeting rooms and areas to move. Working closely with the client, we developed an indoor racetrack for on-the-go conversations, breakaway spaces amongst lush greenery and water features, private pods as well as a functional gym. 19.01.2022 INSPIRED // As a cottage built in the 1940s, this home boasts traditional layout concepts with a modernised approach. Mixing the old with the new, a spacious open-plan living and dining room anchors the centre of the home, with a large pass-through to the revitalised kitchen, and a hallway leading to the tucked-away bedrooms and bathroom. As crafters of homes, we love taking cues from traditional architecture and adapting them to meet the simplicities of modern design. + Location Los Angeles, USA + Photo by Compass

18.01.2022 Kind words from Selling Principal, Ben Faulks on our recent Commercial project for Ray White Belconnen We have used Sarah and the team at The Mill for four fit-outs now. She’s proved incredibly adept at helping crystallise our vision for what our space could be, and more importantly how it would function. Collaborative, creative and a pleasure to work with. We will be using them again.

17.01.2022 At the core of every business is a well-appointed team. When designing commercial spaces, we think of what will make it functional, productive but most importantly, promote a positive team environment. As part of our involvement with CASA, we developed a Workplace Design Strategy that framed key elements to facilitate a happy, healthy and productive team. The result was various work zones, space for collaboration and of course, a room to recharge and connect with their workmates in a unique setting.

17.01.2022 Today marks Director Sarah’s last official day in the office before she begins maternity leave. We are incredibly thankful for everything you create and do for our team. We are so excited to welcome our littlest member to The Mill

16.01.2022 INSPIRED // Dark interiors can sometimes be mistaken as a way to reduce light and space within a home. Yet, when paired with natural materials, bright walls and contrasting furniture, a room can come to life and create the perfect combination of light and dark. We are inspired by simple but good design, and this minimalist home secluded in the desert is the perfect example of modern luxuries energy independence, low maintenance, seamless indoor/outdoor living, peace, tranqu...illity, and connection to nature. + Architecture by @theranchmineofficial + Build by Boxwell Homes + Cabinetry by @bakerhesseldenz + Location Phoenix, USA + Photo by @roehnerryan

14.01.2022 INSPIRED // We thoroughly enjoy admiring the shapes that can be made from architecture. They create form, and contrast to its surrounds like this villa found in Copenhagen. 11.01.2022 Kind words from a recent residential project... The end result is a home that provides us with the lifestyle we were seeking. It has achieved a substantial reduction in our energy costs and is just simply beautiful. What is evident to us is that throughout our project The Mill team were as invested in achieving the design outcomes as much as we were. They take pride in their work and it really shows.

11.01.2022 At The Mill, we believe that enjoying an easy relationship with your architect is essential for success. We endeavour to work with you, so that we can manage your project from conception through to the final form and create the outcome you envisioned.

11.01.2022 Welcoming, Casey. We are delighted to announce The Mill team is growing with our newest architect on board. Graduating from the University of Canberra with her Masters in Architecture, Casey brings a broad range of experience with a deep passion for all things home, and like us, she also loves mid-century design.

10.01.2022 INSPIRED // This little beach shack found in Venice, California is a prime example of turning something ordinary, into something grand. Despite its structural challenges, the rundown home became a beachside paradise with a complete transformation. A switch of the layout inside brought open spaces, flooding light, and room to relax. Our favourite aspect is the bi-fold back doors that not only bring light to the home but a seamless flow from inside to the backyard. + Location ...Venice, California + Architecture by Veneer Designs + Photo by Jessica Alexander See more

09.01.2022 From the fruition of a modern workplace for CASA Brisbane, came an opportunity to give their office in Perth a similar solution. Focusing on the same principles from our initial workshops and partnership, we established key design elements that would also formulate a productive, positive and progressive work environment for their team in Perth. 05.01.2022 The inside of one of The Mill's homes in Denman continues to develop. From beams to ceilings and concrete floors, we can't wait to show you more of this exciting architectural project.

05.01.2022 Standing on an angular block in O’Connor, a family looked to The Mill to bring a new sense of vibrancy to their home. Filled with beautiful natural light and high ceilings, there is an emphasised openness to the home, removing any sense of ‘clutter’ that was once felt. Inside the kitchen, custom cabinetry was built into the angular space as well as an integrated planter box and connected buffet unit. With a standout three-sided fireplace covered in three-dimensional tiles and black marble, the home is an incredible reflection of the owner’s bold style and way of living.

04.01.2022 With a shared love to form thoughtful spaces, our team is made up of talented architecture and design professionals. Tarryn is a crafter of spaces. Taking her years of experience and out-of-box thinking, she forms places that people can call their own. Having worked across both residential and commercial projects for the last four years, Tarryn has a clear approach to designing spaces fit for purpose. As our team at The Mill continues to grow in size, so does the breadth of experience and expertise of our people.

03.01.2022 INSPIRED // We believe lack of space is never an excuse to miss out on functional elements that make up a home. 03.01.2022 INSPIRED // Amidst the familiar trends of 21st-century design, we are always inspired by the homes that dare to look different. 02.01.2022 INSPIRED // We carry a similar attitude regarding interiors as the owners of this beautiful 1960s English townhouse, and that is it’s about good design and instinct. 02.01.2022 Bringing together a mix of contrasting elements made this architectural home stand confidently. We believe every home should be distinct and boast an exterior that reflects the integral features and qualities of its unique interior. Photography by Adam McGrath of @hcreations

02.01.2022 As interior designers, we love bringing life to a space with art. As part of our Flexi-living Series in Ginninderry, we featured pieces from Capital Arthouse Collection, choosing vibrant artwork that would lift and complement the use of rustic materials and natural finishes for the ‘contemporary vintage’ theme.
