24.01.2022 Latest update As theres been no further update from the relevant authorities the course is still open. Our playing conditions remain as are which you can find on GolfNSW and golfAUS websites(link in earlier post below). GolfNSW have made the point that it will only take one infraction for the whole state to be shutdown, so it is imperative these new guidelines are strictly adhered to. FYI - golf in Victoria has been suspended until 13th April, lets hope NSW does not follow... suit. I have decided to close the driving range. I feel this is in the best interests of keeping the course open. Mini golf remains closed. So for those who do play - All players must be fully compliant with self distancing rules. Each player will be require to bring a set of their own clubs as hire clubs will not be available.

22.01.2022 There has been an announcement on some news broadcasts this morning that Ray Hadley made enquires re golf and covid-19 restrictions. As yet I have not received nor found any information regarding this from an official source. As such we will remain closed until it is confirmed by GolfNSW or GolfAUS that we are able to reopen. Btw- it is April fools day!

22.01.2022 Heres a version of events re the shut down and re-opening of golf in nsw...

21.01.2022 Are you a Putt Putt GOAT (Greatest Of All Time)? - well come on down and prove it at our 18 Hole Mini-Golf Course this SCHOOL HOLIDAYS - Our 2 Adults/2 Children Family Deal is just $24 - great value and great fun.

21.01.2022 Its looks as though Golf Australia have made their call. It has been based on the Federal Governments recommendations and have said the States may vary it- I find that highly unlikely to change here in NSW as Gladys is taking a hard line. So basically, we will be closed as of 5pm this afternoon. You can all disregard the previous post and emails Ive sent. https://www.golf.org.au/covid-19

20.01.2022 Unfortunately the Golf Complex will be closed until Wednesday at least. There is still a fair amount of surface water making it virtually impossible to get around the course.

20.01.2022 Spring is in the air and your golf ball should be too! Crackajack Golf - the fun and friendly 9 Hole course located in Tomakin NSW.

18.01.2022 Just a reminder no comp this week due to the greens being cored. Well get them going again from next week.

18.01.2022 Golf Australia have come out today and changed their position on playing golf. After a review of advice from the relevant authorities they support playing golf as the risk of covid-19 transmission is minimal when playing providing the strict adherence to social distancing policies. Their stance may change at any given time with further updates of the current environment. GolfNSW have always supported the playing of golf. They have given the clubs the choice to remain open or ...to close. A club which feels they cannot provide a safe environment for members, staff, public, and/or cannot implement and enforce gathering and social distancing measures in line with regulations and the NSW Public Health Order should strongly consider not re-opening. It is imperative for the course to stay open these regulations are complied with whilst at The Moorings Golf Course. Weve made provisions so you do not have to touch the flag. We have no ball washers, bunker rakes or carts - that cleans up the requirements from my end. The rest is up to you. - you must book a tee time - maintain social distancing - come to carpark, unload, pay, play and go NO MORE THAN TWO (2) IN A GROUP That means NO joining up on course. From the GolfNSW article below - Can more than two family members living together play in the same group? Yes, the social gathering laws allow for more than two family members living in the same household to exercise together. That practice WILL NOT pertain to The Moorings Golf course. Due to - -Increase likelihood of community reports to law enforcement for social distancing breaches by the club -An increased chance of negative media reporting, including social media. You risk a $1000 fine and put me at risk of a $5000. I will dob you in!! I am a proponent of stay at home and as such will not hesitate in closing the course. Do the right thing by other golfers, its privilege to be playing right now. Below is the latest from Golf NSW regarding playing golf. https://www.golfnsw.org.au//17723/covid-19-faqs-advice-ap/

18.01.2022 Just a reminder no comp this week due to the greens being cored. We’ll get them going again from next week.

17.01.2022 Just got power back on in downtown Tuross. (Unsure if Tomakin is back on yet). Given the state of the course there yesterday when we visited, the complex is closed. The threat of fire still exists as the main fire passed within 50 metres of parts of the course and is still smouldering. There is debris strewn across the course and in particular the greens.... Our irrigation system runs off electricity and until such time we have that up and running, we are virtually helpless with regards to defending any further fire threats. As mentioned in an earlier post, we have been extremely fortunate so far with two main factors saving our little course. The southerly wind change which would of blew the embers away from us and NSW RFS. From what I understand they used the Mogo road and the Tomago river to make a stand. Luckily were on the southern side of the road. Just to reiterate, the threat is not over for us( and many others) so until such time we can guarantee a safe environment, the course will remain closed. Thanks Paul Just to show how lucky we are at present-

16.01.2022 Aerial footage of our picturesque golfing location taken earlier today - We are fully operational and as you can see the course is in great condition. Please continue to support a South Coast NSW business during these challenging times. Bring a friend(s) or bring the family for a round of mini-golf or to try our aqua driving range. Please SHARE to help us spread the word on this fun holiday attraction.

16.01.2022 We went and checked out the course today. It is safe so far- it looks like the southerly change got there just in time as the forest over the road near the 5th is burnt out and still smouldering. Here are two pics from the hill behind the 4th with a very lucky house still standing. This is the fire that jumped over to residential Tomakin.

15.01.2022 Ive just been around the course and even though there are still some pretty soggy patches, we can resume normal operation from tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

15.01.2022 Just a reminder that the course is closed!! We hope to be up and running in the next couple of days. We are still without power which makes things a little difficult. So when we do open, please bring cash as eftpos will only be available when full amenities come back online.... Id like to send out commiserations to all those who suffered a loss during this disastrous period, whether it be a house, business, pet or livestock. Lets hope the necessary assistance comes fast and those folks can start rebuilding their lives. Lets also pay thanks to the RFS who faced monumental and unprecedented conditions. They put their lives at risk to save strangers homes and in some cases paid the price. To those, you are heroes to which the whole community are deeply indebted to. Also wed like to thank the suppliers of essential services who are out there working in atrocious conditions trying to ensure that we have the amenities to continue on, be it to escape the region, feed ourselves, protect ourselves and houses or let our loved ones know were still here. Like many other business over this period, the financial hit will be difficult to overcome. And the impact of the fires will be a lasting one. For not only my business, but many others which have managed to survive the onslaught. For me, this small period of closure has previously represented around 20% of my total income, for others it may be more and a hurdle to big to jump. So if you want your favourite little quirky shop to survive, make the effort to spend a few $ there. We dont want your handouts, give them to those who have lost and need them, we want you to come and utilise our facilities, so we can keep people employed. Whilst weve all acknowledged those who have lost something, the remaining majority are now faced with an uncertain future, and for many already, no work in a period where their extra earnings subsidises the rest of their year. Whilst I was at home preparing to stay and defend, Im aware that some folks have came and played a round. A big thanks to those who have let me know via iou or txt. To those who have decided not to say anything, I view it as akin to looting and not in the ethos of Crackajack Golf- so perhaps you can choose to play elsewhere in the future. All in all, we were extremely fortunate to get away with no damage at the complex, and for me personally at home. With respect to the course, the currowan and Clyde fires have burnt out a combined 286000 hectares. My best guess is that about 5000 hectares remain untouched- and were in a small part of that. The fire passed within the width of the road from wiping out at least the bottom five holes. Given precedence would of been given to residences in the vicinity (and rightly so), most likely not a drop of water would of be dispersed on to the course- unbelievable! Hope to see you back golfing soon Paul

15.01.2022 Come on down this SCHOOL HOLIDAYS and try our unique Aqua Driving Range - still only $5 for 25 balls. Club hire also available. See you soon!

14.01.2022 Batemans Bay Area community action group Karl, one of our regulars here, has set this group up. So if you or anyone you know, is in need of some assistance after the bushfires, he is more than happy to help out. He has a shed full of donated goods to hand out. And if youd like to make a donation that will go directly to affected people, he has a link on his Facebook page or you can pm him.... Nice work Karl

13.01.2022 Golf is back on! Got an email from GolfNSW confirming this status. Strict social distancing measures will be in place. I will endeavour to find a code of practice from an official association and post it up here. But straight up you will have to ring to book and in groups of no more than 2. https://www.golfnsw.org.au//01/17624/covid-19-golf-back-on/... Heres a link to what golf nsw has put out. If you take the time to read it, the last line is important as to where each individual clubs stands - ultimately the choice is the clubs. So we will remained closed for today. Ill reserve my decision for the short term future after some further consultation.

13.01.2022 If you’re planning on coming down for a hit on course, it would be appreciated if you can ring 4471 8800 to book in. Precedence will be given to those who do book. Bookings are not required for the mini golf or driving range.

12.01.2022 Ive been waiting for Golf Australia or GolfNSW to make a formal announcement with regards to playing golf after last nights new conditions. So far there has been nothing. As such, we will continue on. From Tuesday, bookings will be essential. Either call 44718800, 0427853308, Facebook messenger or email [email protected]. Groups will be limited to 2 people( regardless of your living arrangements).... There will be 4 tee off times per hour. 00, 15, 30, 45. All other covid conditions will need to be complied with. Weve placed cut off noodles in the holes to assist in avoidance touching the pin and hole. The driving range and mini golf remain closed. Thanks Paul

12.01.2022 Just a quick note re the virus. It appears as though weve made the first cut in the essential service list and do not have to close Monday at midday. We will however suspend the hiring of clubs. If youd like to use the Driving Range then you will be required to bring your own clubs. Our floaters are washed twice including being soaked in a bleach solution. Our mats will be placed 2 metres apart to comply with social distancing. Mini Golf will be open with strict limits on n...umbers participating at the one time with maximum group sizes restricted. On course - we are still able to play. Below are some recommendations for when playing - Social distancing- from the tee through to the green, always be aware and allow a clear 2 metres from your fellow players. Tradition Handshake - unfortunately this action will have to cease on the completion of your round. On the green - leave the pin in and do not touch it. - extend the gimme range and dont putt out. - use your glove hand when retrieving the ball from the cup ( if youre lucky enough to sink one from outside the extended gimme range) - we may decrease the depth of the cup or find an alternative to limit touching of the cup and pin. - do not touch your playing partners ball or clubs. This would include retrieving their ball from the hole. Id highly recommend bringing some hand sanitiser or disinfectant spray ( if you can get some) and use that regularly through your round - a clean dry cloth will be needed to wipe the moisture off. We have eftpos available so card payments will be the preferred option. Please do not mill around the shop front and ideally one person at a time paying for their group would be also appreciated. These a just a few precautions we can take at the course which will enable us to continue on playing during this period - given there will be very little else in the entertainment or leisure genre. Our collective efforts in complying with the governments will at this time will help us all get through this in the most timely manner. The objective here is to contain the spread to levels which our health system can handle and save people from dying needlessly. Stop the Spread

11.01.2022 Were up and running at full capacity. Our greens have suffered a little and Mark is applying his tender touch to get them back up to 100% - lets hope for some rain to assist there, otherwise well have to continue to irrigate with the sprinklers. We will try to minimise the effect of having these run through the day. Please, if youd like to use the driving range, then come before 4.30. Our working day does not finish at 5pm and there are various tasks that need to be completed before opening the next day. If this includes retrieving floating balls ( which in this time of the year is pretty much every night) then you may be turned away.

11.01.2022 Plenty of fun choices at Crackajack Golf this SCHOOL HOLIDAYS - come on down and enjoy our aqua driving range, 18 hole MiniGolf or lovely 9 Hole Par 3 Course - or why not try all 3!

09.01.2022 Some nice mild weather coming up so bring the family down for 18 holes of Putt Putt this festive season at The Moorings Golf in Tomakin.

08.01.2022 I’ve just been around the course and even though there are still some pretty soggy patches, we can resume normal operation from tomorrow. Thanks for your patience.

07.01.2022 Due to the lack of tourists in the region, weve made the decision to cancel our twilight special and are reverting back to our normal hours of operation 8-5. I apologise not getting the word out earlier. For those who did turn up after 5 today, please come back in during our normal hours and youll be looked after.

07.01.2022 Below is a link to Golf Australias website where a daily update on where golf stands with respect to the covid-19 virus situation. We are very fortunate to be in the position of being able to continue to play. That may change in a flash tho. As stated below, Social Distancing is paramount when on the course grounds. ... Ive implemented the relevant recommendations for the safety of players and the continuation of playing in some new playing conditions. It is imperative that these new conditions are adhered to not only at Crackajack Golf, but other courses as well. The government shut down the hospitality industry due to the participants (some owners and customers) inability to adhere to Social Distancing directives. So please, lets follow the directives so we can continue to enjoy a game whilst navigating our way through this current set of circumstances. https://www.golf.org.au/covid-19/

07.01.2022 Unbeatable holiday value and fun for the whole family. OPEN 8am to 7PM to 12 January 2020 - Ask about our "Twilight for $12" deals - PH 02 4471 8800

07.01.2022 On a side note - Congrats to Zac for an Ace on hole 14, it’s a shame the comp was the front 9 though.

06.01.2022 We are OPEN all Australia Day Long Weekend so come along for some family fun at Mini-Golf or try our unique Aqua Driving Range. You can also play 9 Holes on our relaxed and friendly course that is currently in superb condition.

06.01.2022 The course is open. As of now the Moorings golf course will be available to play a round on. Bookings need to be made. Id prefer email - [email protected] or messenger through here or text only on 0427853308 I still need to maintain the course and answering calls is a major inconvenience at times and coordinating bookings is quite difficult whilst on the mower.... I will reply with your options as soon as possible. If you dont book, you wont get on. Strict adherence to social distancing will be mandatory. Max 2 people in a group. Given the latest information regarding the spread of covid-19 in our area, I feel as the risk to engage in golf activities is low, not nonexistent, but low. The decision to remain open can and will be rescinded at anytime if it is deemed necessary.

06.01.2022 We will tentatively be open for play tomorrow-Wednesday. Im hoping low tide tonight and one tomorrow morning will aid in clearing away some surface water. The best option will be to check here or ring 44718800 or txt 0427853308 to see if were good to go. Below are some Pics from this arvo. Most of that water should be swallowed up by the river- its just a question of how long it will take.

05.01.2022 Dont miss out on our "TWILIGHT FOR $12" deals these holidays from 5-7PM: *GOLF - 9 Holes of Golf on our Par 3 Course;... * DRIVING RANGE - 50 Balls and 2 Club Hire; or * MINIGOLF - 2 x 18 Holes. Fantastic value for all the family. Available until 12 January 2020.

03.01.2022 Hone your game this school holidays on our aqua driving range - 25 balls still just $5. Great fun for all the family. Hire clubs available.

03.01.2022 Gday all Well be up and running on about 3 1/2 cylinders tomorrow, Wednesday. Our focus is on the course, so our efforts are concentrated on getting it suitable to play. The greens have held up pretty well( especially considering the lack of rain previous to the fire crisis) and the fact weve had no ability to water them for last week or so without power for the irrigation system. A nice little drop of rain helped yesterday, however we could do with some more.... The driving range will be operational. The mini golf still has a little debris strewn over it but is playable. We will endeavour to take care of that ASAP in the morning. Hope to see yall soon Ps- I should add that phone reception is scratchy at best - no landline. And the internet is still out - so bringing cash would be best as the ATM in IGA was down as well. PPS- bring some aeroguard as the fire across the road has sent some mites or sandflies over.

02.01.2022 Blast into 2021 on our purpose built aqua driving range - still only $5 for 25 balls. Hire clubs also available.

01.01.2022 The course was under a bit of pressure when I left at 11. It had that its time to go feeling. Lets hope all our friends in the surrounding vicinity are ok.
