21.01.2022 Since getting Nessie just over a month ago, I am baffled by the number of people who’s first response is i couldn’t do that, it would be too hard to give her back. For us that has never been a concern, sure it will be sad, but she has the ability to change somebody’s life! Get the tissues out, because this is what puppy raising a guide dog is all about!
21.01.2022 So for me chronic pain is one of those things in life that seems to always linger in the background only to pop up when there is something i need to learn. After injuring my hand 9 years ago & managing my nerves, neck and arm really well for the past 4-5 years, so my pain levels haven’t impacted my life at all. This year I have been able to push shopping trolleys, move house & even complete a high ropes course (which at one point I never thought it would be pos...sible). Then we got Nessie, our gorgeous little guide dog puppy. And as well as I have been managing my pain, this added a whole new level to it. Having to do something as simple as grip her lead to walk her, brought on pain in my hand an arm that I haven’t felt in years. Within 4 weeks I have really struggled with tasks I took for granted, like carrying a bag of shopping or demonstrating a push up. Sure it sucks & there have been moments where it has gotten me down a little bit. However my approach to my pain has completely changed & it has come down to all the work I have done over the past few years on my mindset. I now see my pain as an experience, a flare up, it is transient & not forever. It is there for a reason, it reminds me to express gratitude everyday for those simple things I take for granted. It’s purpose is to remind me what it is like to be challenged & the importance of focusing on what is within your control, which the only thing 100% within our control is how we respond to situations. We can’t control the situation itself. It has taken me 9 years to be able to get to this point & I’m defiantly not there yet. But I challenge you to have a look at your experience of pain, whether it be physical, emotion, mental or even spiritual & ask yourself what lessons can I take from this? I’m a big believer that lessons will keep coming back to you until you have experienced the learning you need to take you to that next level. So spend some time pondering what learnings you can take & make sure you put it into action! See more
19.01.2022 Sometime I just feel like a bowl of veggies! When I’m cooking for myself I tend to intuitively eat. Sometime I feel like a specific veggie or I might feel like I need more carbs or fats. What is consistent is that I tend to get creative and just make it up.... We purchase really good quality spices from @terramadreorganics or @thesourcebulkfoods and it makes it so much more delicious than the supermarket bought stuff. Make sure you are getting all your colors in over the day & don’t be afraid to add some extra flavour with a home made dressing or adding some spices to your cooking. (I added some morrocan spice and it's freaking DELISH ) What's your favourite way to have your veggies?

You don’t need to be able to keep up with Nessie It doesn’t matter what you do for your daily movement, it can be a walk, run, play in the park with the kids (or dogs )... Just make sure you get fresh air in the lungs and move your body in a way that works for you! See more
12.01.2022 January 1st has rolled around again! It is such a great prompt to reflect on 2018 & also look at what you are wanting to create in 2019. What challenged you in 2018?... What did you learn from that experience? How have you evolved from the person you were this time last year? What is your intention for 2019? What action will you take everyday to make it happen?
