25.01.2022 BURNOUT IS NOT A BADGE OF HONOUR In my clinical practice (and in my own personal experience) mothers and burnout seem to go hand in hand. There are many reasons for this - putting our needs last, returning to work whilst our little ones are still little, societal and personal pressures, our modern busy lives and coming out of pregnancy and the post partum period in a depleted state. I experienced burnout myself this year, and it’s been a slow return to health and to myself. If you are feeling flat, exhausted, wake up feeling hungover even if you don’t drink, if you crave sweet or salty foods, need caffeine to get going.... well burn out might not be far away for you too. Take action now to start healing yourself (I can help you with that) and start enjoying your life again.
25.01.2022 PINK FAIRY FLOSS CUP These handmade beauties from @matilda_studios are the perfect way to enjoy a cup of herbal tea (and a little pause in your day). They feel beautiful to hold, a little reminder to enjoy the moment and come back to ourselves in the busyness of our modern lives. Available via my online store as a gift for yourself or a Mumma friend.
25.01.2022 YOUR THOUGHTS MATTER MUMMA How you speak to yourself matters, it’s really does. I’ve been doing some journaling, self reflection and mindfulness lately (in between the busyness of parenting, working and running my own business!) and it’s allowed me to become more aware of how I speak to myself... and it’s safe to say I’m my own biggest critic (like most mums). It’s thought that in relationships, for every negative comment, feeling or interaction between partners, there needs ...to be five positive feelings to balance it out. I’m wondering if that also applies to our relationships with ourselves. I think the impact would be higher actually. Self-criticism can really contribute to feelings of worthlessness, anxiety, body image issues and depression. The antidote? Mindfulness to become more aware of these thoughts, exercise, consistent time for self-care and repeating positive affirmations or mantras can help. If you want to chat about how Naturopathy can help improve your mindset and mental health, DM me or book a free discovery call with me via the link in my bio. See more
15.01.2022 THIS Sending hugs to all the Mummas today who are finding it hard to forgive themselves. Lean in, practice self-kindness and give yourself the love and understanding that you so freely show towards others. You are worthy of it too x
08.01.2022 THE WONDER OF A BIRTHING MUMMA Hey Mumma, your body is amazing ! I had two amazing and completely different births, free from interventions. The more I speak to mums, the more I realise how rare and magical that is. I had an obstetrician that trusted in me, who allowed me to go to 42 weeks, who supported me to go without blood thinning medications even though I had a history of blood clots. It’s only on reflection that I realise how lucky I was, allowed to birth without fear or intervention. Those births transformed and strengthened me in ways I’m only just beginning to understand. Sending love to all the Mummas waiting to birth their babies. You are stronger and more miraculous than you know x
05.01.2022 TRUST THE PROCESSIt’s as simple and as challenging as that. The process of becoming a mother twice has changed me in ways I’m just starting to understand. I’m absolutely not where I thought I’d be at the end of this tumultuous year, I’m somewhere way better xx
