24.01.2022 These were all the gorgeous faces I got to watch in our online concert this week! So wonderful to see so many students enjoying their music and making such great progress.

23.01.2022 I felt so happy this week when I had a Zoom lesson with one of my students and she was wearing a big fluffy dressing gown! She looked so comfy and it really hit me that there really are a lot of Silver Linings in this whole #stayathome situation! And true confessions, a couple of times I have just changed my top for an early morning lesson! But I always turn up with a smile.

22.01.2022 This week at The Music Hive, we are talking about how to make practice fun! There will be rewards and prizes on offer for regular practicers. Because the research says that regular short practices are more beneficial that the odd epic session. And then in no time... Bam . Look at the progress!!!

20.01.2022 Looking forward to getting back into teaching today after a few days of reprogramming and getting everything ready! It's a bit daunting for me, not relying much on technology in my day to day operations. But it's time to step up and I'm sure I'll learn lots of new valuable skills. Embracing the silver lining!

20.01.2022 This week all our group classes started preparing for our Term 1 mini-concert in week 10. At The Music Hive, we like to provide as many performance opportunities for our Mini Musicians as possible... but when you've only been learning an instrument for 8-10 weeks, this can be a bit overwhelming! So we are going to put on a virtual concert which will be shared with our parents, friends and families in a Private Facebook Group! Everyone wins... we get to share what we've been working on without the stagefright! And we'll keep working on our performance skills for our Mid-Year Concert!

14.01.2022 I recently watched a great documentary on Netflix called The Creative Brain. It explores how important the use of the creative side of our brain is to our sense of wellbeing and purpose in life. There are many ways in which you can be creative and it certainly isn't limited to the arts, however Music sure is a fun and rewarding way to explore creativity and get a creative fix!!

13.01.2022 I love that I have music as an escape when life becomes a bit overwhelming! I hope that many of you have a happy place over the coming weeks to get some perspective and find some joy! Hopefully all our students can pick up their instruments, practice their favourite songs and put on an impromptu concert if there is a bit more time at home than usual!

10.01.2022 I love Nuvo Instrumentals iconic notation! Kids LOVE instant gratification and if they can play fun songs straight away it gives them confidence and motivation. It allows them the space to work on breath, sound, tuning and builds a real sense of the relationship between rhythm, time and space! And then when its time to move onto notation, all the basics are covered and all the focus can be placed on the next challenge!

10.01.2022 Often students want to practice, but theyre just not so good at knowing what or how to practice! For younger students who benefit from regular, but shorter practice times, a Grid of suggested activities can help keep up the motivation so that they still have choice, but direction!

10.01.2022 That’s a wrap on Term 3!! We were so fortunate to be able to continue all our lessons and classes with only a few small changes. It was so great to hear all the student’s work come together in our Week 10 Video Concert. Looking forward to big things in Term 4

09.01.2022 Before Nuvo Instrumental, you really couldnt start learning a Woodwind Instrument until year 3, maybe year 2 if you were a taller child! Now there is an option for all children from as young as 3 or 4... and great stepping stones until you are ready for a full size instrument... or as commonly known at The Music Hive, a shiny instrument.

05.01.2022 Dont forget hygiene is extra important at the moment! How awesome that all the Nuvo Instrumental Instruments are made of plastic and can just take a warm bath with soapy water! Might also be time to give your case a disinfecting spritz and pop any cleaning cloths in the wash!
