25.01.2022 The 4 Stages of Learning In absolutely everything that we do and learn, we go through the 4 stages of learning and awareness. These are:... 1 Unconsciously Unaware - You don’t know that you don’t know. 2 Consciously Unaware - You now know that you don’t know about it. 3Consciously Aware - You know how to do it but have to think about it in order to do it. 4 Unconsciously Aware - You can now do/know it with little to no effort (like a habit) Let’s look at this in a way that you would understand a little easier, with your riding and technique. Stage 1: Unconsciously Unaware You think that your riding technique is already good and you are unaware that it needs improving. Stage 2: Consciously Unaware It has become clear that your riding technique needs some work and that you are doing certain things wrong, but you just don’t yet know how to fix it. Stage 3: Consciously Aware You have done some coaching and training to improve your technique and you now know how to do things properly, but you must concentrate in order to do it well every time, and it still takes a bit of work. Stage 4: Unconsciously Aware Over time and after practicing the good technique over and over, it starts to become easier and you don’t need to focus on it as much anymore. This new technique is now being formed as a habit and is now how you ride all the time. This is a universal law and we all go through these 4 stages every time we learn something new, be it a skill or just simply knowledge. Sometimes we can go through these stages faster than others, sometimes it may take us years to fully go through all 4 stages. But this is what our end goal is within our training and coaching. We take you all the way through to Unconscious Awareness in all aspects of our performance, so that when you get to the start gate for that big race you have been preparing for, you can focus on your race, and not on doing all the little things correctly. @mxfit_program @honda_mc @maitland_motorcycles @dmkdesigns13 @compeat_nutrition @holeshot_mx @sarahsphysiotogo @litpro @ctrlaltdesignau @dewar.2nine2

23.01.2022 Heart Rate Monitors are an extremely useful tool to use in your riding and training. Helping to show indications of intensity, stress and fitness and performance markers. (Something we teach all our riders to read and understand). But one main thing that I have noticed is that so many people who are using a Heart Rate Monitor are using wrist based systems and devices. Although these devices do work, there’s several reasons for why I don’t recommend using them and would much ...prefer a chest strap device. 1: Wrist straps are not as accurate as chest straps. This is just a fact and no matter how good your Garmin says it is, it’s not as good as a chest strap. 2: Wearing a watch on your wrist is obstructive of your range of motion, can cause an injury and can also restrict blood flow and effect arm pump. With a chest strap you can locate your receiving device (watch or @litpro) else ware on your bike. 3: Chest straps are MUCH cheaper than watches. This one is pretty self explanatory. 4: We use it accurately measure other fitness and recovery markers. Measuring things like HRV (heart rate variability) and resting HR on a daily basis to get your recovery and performance markers is extremely beneficial. But once again, cannot be properly and accurately measured from the wrist and must be done from a chest strap. So save yourself some $$ and get better accuracy and ditch the watch and get a chest strap #motocross #motocrossfitness #mxfitness #motocrosstraining #mxtraining #mxfit #motofit #strength #whip #fastlife #ridered #braap #motoporn #supercross #thisismoto #sendit #2stroke #motolife #performance #athlete #fitness #fast #tapped #motoendurance #mxdaily #racing #strengthandconditioning #mx #hondamc

23.01.2022 The Off-Season is one of the most important times of the year for a racer. It gives you the opportunity to evaluate how your previous season went, what you did well, and what needs improving. And you have the time and availability to develop certain aspects of your performance that can be quite difficult to do during the race season. It also gives you the opportunity to get the upper hand on your competition. If you can make the most of your off-season, do the work, and tak...e your performance to that next level, while others are "having some time off", then you are going to be turning some heads come the start of the 2021 race season! This is exactly what we aim to do within our MXFIT Program. Giving you the program, tools, and knowledge that you need to increase every aspect of your performance so that you can come out swinging next year. 22.01.2022 Increasing ‘Endurance’ on the Bike. There’s many contributing factors that go into increasing your ‘endurance’ on the bike. Meaning, how long you can ride for at a given speed/intensity. But by far, the most effective way is to focus on developing your Aerobic Energy system. ... There are 3 main rules when developing your Aerobic Energy system effectively for sport; 1 Use a variety of Volumes and Intensities 2 Use a moderate to high training frequency (4-6 days/week) 3 Use sport specific movements. Rules 1 and 2 aren’t to difficult to sort out if you either know what you’re doing or have a coach to program for you... But rule 3 is where things get a little interesting. Sport specific movements mean either using the same or similar movement patterns to your chosen sport. So clearly the best option here is through actual riding. But as stated in rule 2, this must be done 4-6 times a week... Unless you’re able to get on the bike that often, you may need to look elsewhere. This is where the ‘similar’ movement patterns idea comes in. Below are some of my best recommendations; - MTB riding: extremely effective, fun and very similar to riding your bike. But if you have time to MTB you’d most likely have time to ride your mx bike so maybe not solving this problem. - Rowing: rowing is definitely extremely effective and very similar movement patterns to your riding, promoting a strong and efficient posterior chain (back part of the body) - Assault Bike: this comes in at a close 3rd to the rower. And is also very effective, having a focus more on the anterior chain (front of the body) - Ski erg: yet another of my favourite machines, emphasising other aspects and movement patterns utilised in your riding. - Cycling: yes, I put cycling last. Not that I don’t think it is effective, but that I believe all the others above the be more effective. As following rule 3 (sport specific movements) There are more modalities than listed above and we do use others in our training like running, swimming and circuits (like CrossFit). Perhaps I will address all of these in a video on my YouTube shortly. @marcpayne13

22.01.2022 This is a topic that pops up in my MXFIT Development FB group a fair bit... From enduro riders, finding the first 10-20 minutes being the hardest part of their race... to motocross riders, finding the first 1-2 laps to be the hardest part. The short and simple answer is to ensure you perform an adequate warm-up before you ride! ... Without doing a proper warmup you are basically asking your body to magically go for 0 to 100 almost instantly when that gate drops and it simply isn’t ready for it. Especially for those that have a decent drive to get the the track. You have just been seated in your car for several hours, you unload your bike and head straight out on the track Ensuring that you perform an adequate warmup for your entire body EVERY time before your ride. That means for each race on the day as well. What an ‘adequate’ warmup may be is different from person to person. But just know that you need a bigger warmup in colder weather, and if you’ve had a long drive before getting to the track. If you would like a copy of some example warmup routines to do before riding. Then comment below with ‘warmup’ and I’ll DM you a copy. @blitzed_images @rileystephens56 #motocross #motocrossfitness #mxfitness #motocrosstraining #mxtraining #mxfit #motofit #strength #whip #fastlife #ridered #braap #motoporn #supercross #thisismoto #sendit #2stroke #motolife #performance #athlete #fitness #fast #tapped #motoendurance #mxdaily #racing #strengthandconditioning #mx #hondamc

22.01.2022 Too many riders these days don’t put enough value in getting coaching on the bike. Not only is it extremely beneficial for your riding skills, performance and safety... It is also an integral part of the learning and development process! ... Learning and developing skills is a 3-step process: 1: Sensory Feedback - movement capacity, perceived stress, fatigue level etc. 2: Execution Feedback: external assessment. Was the goal accomplished. 3: Coaching Feedback: external input from someone else’s perspective. These 3 forms of feedback play the biggest role in how the brain learns to move the body around and control itself in space. So without the use of a coach and getting that external feedback from someone else that has knowledge and experience. You are missing out on one of the fundamentals of learning and development. Seth Braiding (demonstrating some some interesting cornering technique )

22.01.2022 It’s a super common myth that to get as fit, strong and fast as you want to be on the bike - you just need to ride more. While this is true to a certain extent. You will get MUCH better results if you train off the bike, as well as riding more (or with more intent). A good off-bike program will;... - Help you to develop strength. Making you more efficient in your movements on the bike. - Fix up any muscle imbalances (very common in riders) - Develop ALL aspects of your endurance (plugging away at motos is leaving a lot on the table) These are just some of the many benefits of off-bike training. If you’d like a detailed training plan that covers not only your off-bike training, but you on-bike training, nutrition, mindset and everything else in between. 22.01.2022 It’s a common theme among motocross and enduro riders to be more concerned with making the bike faster or better than working on themselves. Happily spending thousands of on their bikes with new exhausts, better suspension and bling bits. But don’t put enough value on themselves to want to invest in coaching or training so that they can physically ride the bike better and faster. I actually did a funny comparison about a year ago with the price of a new Pro Circuit exha...ust system and the price of a full years training and development program (spoiler, the program was actually cheaper), yet many would still prefer to spend the money on the exhaust. If better results, and increased performance are what you are after, than maybe re-evaluate where you’re prioritising and spending your money for your racing. Invest in some training and coaching and maybe then you’ll realise that you don’t really need that new exhaust to make you go faster #motocross #motocrossfitness #mxfitness #motocrosstraining #mxtraining #mxfit #motofit #strength #whip #fastlife #ridered #braap #motoporn #supercross #thisismoto #sendit #2stroke #motolife #performance #athlete #fitness #fast #tapped #motoendurance #mxdaily #racing #strengthandconditioning #mx #hondamc

21.01.2022 STOP DOING MOTOS! Going to the track for practice/training with no plan other than to ‘cut motos’ is not a plan at all. The biggest problem with just simply doing motos when training is that you can find yourself falling into a ‘speed rut’ and finding it really hard to make actual good progress in your speed and performance on the bike. ... One of the best things that you can do if you are one of those guys/girls that just does motos all the time, is to start doing some sprint and section work. 1, 2 or 3 lap sprints (depending on your fitness level) will get you up and moving at a faster pace and make you push those limits a little bit while you are not in a fatigued state (a lot safer). The section work will help you to hone in your skills and speed in your corners. Make sure you do enough reps of each section (minimum 10) to ensure you have got it dialled. Doing these two things will help you to break through any speed ruts thy you may be stuck in, make you more comfortable at faster paces/speeds, and thus allow you to ride at a faster pace in your motos/races at a lower intensity/effort. @keitonbell #motocross #motocrossfitness #mxfitness #motocrosstraining #mxtraining #mxfit #motofit #strength #whip #fastlife #ridered #braap #motoporn #supercross #thisismoto #sendit #2stroke #motolife #performance #athlete #fitness #fast #tapped #motoendurance #mxdaily #racing #strengthandconditioning #mx #hondamc

21.01.2022 This is a saying that I find myself using a lot! And it’s applicable in so many different areas. How are you supposed to know that your race fitness is terrible, if you’ve never improved your fitness? How are you supposed to know that your nutrition is negatively effecting your performance in your riding, if you’ve never experienced the benefits of proper nutrition. ... How are you supposed to know that you bike set-up is atrocious, if you’ve never had a good bike set-up. I could go on and on with examples... It’s not until you value yourself and your performance and improvement enough to want to work on these aspects that you will finally realise how much you have been leaving on the table by not addressing all of these different things. And once you do, you’ll wonder how you ever got by beforehand! #motocross #motocrossfitness #mxfitness #motocrosstraining #mxtraining #mxfit #motofit #strength #whip #fastlife #ridered #braap #motoporn #supercross #thisismoto #sendit #2stroke #motolife #performance #athlete #fitness #fast #tapped #motoendurance #mxdaily #racing #strengthandconditioning #mx #hondamc

20.01.2022 So many of us are guilty of this (including myself). In a recent video for our MXFIT members, Sarah's Moto Physio To Go and myself touched on the importance of not only completing a full 'return to sport' program, but also doing mobility assessments to find any restrictions you may have.

19.01.2022 The law of 3... When choosing who you ride with, I suggest you follow the law of 3;... 1: Someone faster than you that you can learn from and will push you to do better 2: Someone similar or on par with you to be your competition and to practice with 3: Someone slower than you that you can teach. This is by far the most effective solution that I have used to date. 18.01.2022 It’s very common for younger riders to have a little bit of difficulty when stepping up to a bigger bike. Or even moving from lites to opens. One of my face to face clients @samgilbert71 (pictured) has been noticing the awesome benefits of his program lately on his new 250. ... Developing his movement and strength in the gym has allowed him to maintain position on the bike a lot easier and can now ‘ride the bike’ instead of the bike riding him. He has also been able increase his technique on the bike with his Mx coach. The increased movement and coordination we have developed in the gym has made it easier for him to coordinate and pick up drills and techniques with his Mx coach. These are just some of the benefits that you can expect from a strength and conditioning program to help your racing. 18.01.2022 We say this all the time within our MXFIT Program and that is why we don’t just increase fitness in our programs. We address ALL aspects of performance necessary to overcome arm pump and increase speed and endurance on the bike. Understanding that increasing performance markers like strength, endurance, and intensity does not always mean that it will fix your arm pump or performance issues on the bike. But when integrating that in with on bike training, better technique, in...creased mobility, proper mindset training, breathing techniques, and better bike set-up.... 14.01.2022 So excited to be working with Holeshotmx and have them helping out with the MXFIT Program.

13.01.2022 Experience has long been known as a very clear advantage in just about any sport. Being experienced and having familiarity with a given environment (hot, cold, track conditions, level of riding/event etc) helps you to manage your energy much much easier and to control your bodies natural ‘stress response’. When we are Un-familiar with a given environment, there comes a certain level of uncertainty and inevitably we elicit a stress response. ... The stress response is a huge influence on our energy production and expenditure. By limiting the stress response, we can limit energy expenditure and maintain performance. There aren’t many ways to work on this without simply exposing yourself to these different environments as often as possible in order to develop a level of familiarity and experience. So what’s the takeaway here?... 1: Don’t shy away from difficult conditions. Yes, practicing in rain/mud isn’t ideal. But when it comes to an important race and these conditions arise. You’ll be thankful for it. The same goes for hot and cold conditions. 2: don’t wait until you are ‘ready’ to enter a big event. Enter it now, get some experience, then tackle it again next year (and the year after, and the year after etc).

12.01.2022 It’s just about go time!!!

09.01.2022 Your time on the bike is so much more enjoyable when it isn’t hindered by a lack of fitness. It doesn’t matter if you are racing or just going for a Sunday ride in the bush. It’s no fun when you have to dial down your speed (and subsequently the fun) just because you know you will not make the entire race or ride if you don’t. ... Just imagine being able to ride closer to your full pace for an entire moto. Being able to throw down a fat whip when you want to for the camera because you’ve still got the energy to do so and your not just fighting yourself and the bike to get to the finish line. Or being able to go and hit a couple extra big hills or play around on some logs during or after a long ride instead of just looking at them and wishing you had the energy or the strength to do them.
