25.01.2022 Thanks for the chat this week Storytowns!

25.01.2022 T A K E A L O A D O F F ! This week we have installed a beautiful timber bench for you to relax on especially while we have foot traffic restrictions at the post office. Thanks to Hotspur Park Milling + Timber Sales for their help . You may have also noticed our recently installed communal wicking veggie bed has been rather bare .... Unfortunately the soil we purchased (and put in and dug out and put in and dug our due to leaks) was severely alkaline killing everything we planted. We are working on amending the soil so it will hopefully be flourishing soon and in the mean time we have started planting a little food forest in the front garden . See more

25.01.2022 W H A T S G R O W I N ‘ ? One thing I have been missing over the last few months is a lazy stroll around my friends gardens to see what is growing. To name a few things we are still getting a good crop of little broccoli heads, our cabbages are still rocking, the last pumpkins are fattening up, gooseberries and pepinos are abundant, daikon are everywhere and the garlic and onions are getting bigger. What’s growing in your garden?

19.01.2022 Phil O'Connor Organics is another great option to get organic fruit and veg delivered to your home. You may have seen this fella at the Port Fairy Market, but as that is on hold, get your orders in on Fridays via text for local delivery on Mondays.

19.01.2022 S E E D S ! We have filled up the seed box to the brim this morning with locally saved spray free seeds. The seed packets got a bit creative as supplies ran out Coriander, parsley, dill, broad beans, cabbage, brussel sprouts, celery, spring onions, leeks, walking onions, perpetual spinach, rocket and hollyhocks and maybe more??... Please only take what you will grow and one of each seed variety so there is enough for everyone. Get planting! Xx

18.01.2022 Our little community garden bed is slowly filling up as the soil settles. Please help yourself while you socially distance in line for the post office. We also have some daffodils to brighten your day and some fresh greens and herbs. Help yourself and thank you to everyone in our community that continues to share their excess and use the stall.

16.01.2022 H E L L O ! It’s been a while. There is some fresh parsley, kale, thyme, rosemary and daikon radish at the stall today. The garden is also starting to think about starting to produce with some tiny somethings coming up and some parsley and spinach going well. Help yourself to what is growing . Also can we please ask again that containers, jars, bottle tops and egg cartons are popped on the Narrawong Food Collective Community Share page instead of being left at the stall to... help reduce clutter. If you see something looking a bit sad please give it to the worm farm in the garden bed. Thanks!!! See more

10.01.2022 W A N T E D ! It’s spring! Time for lots of seeds to be planted and chickens to lay eggs like no ones watching. There have been a few people asking for pots and egg cartons lately so if you have extra please post on our share page so people can claim them rather than leave them at the stall and those in need miss them. Go forth and grow...and eat many an omelette.

10.01.2022 H I D D E N F O O D . . . After a quick weeding walk around the garden today I found this lot hiding. Some slightly bug eaten or oversized but still good. What are you harvesting at the moment?

08.01.2022 P R O B I O T I C F R U I T L E A T H E R . . . Roadside apples, rhubarb from the stall and organic milk kefir fruit leather for a yummy and easy to make snack that is good for your guts! Stew up apples and rhubarb, blend, let it cool before adding the kefir and dehydrate on a lower setting. Store in the fridge for a few weeks... if they last that long!

04.01.2022 S E E D L I N G S . . . Check out Blue Dog Permaculture’s list of available seedlings and get growing!

04.01.2022 What can you recycle at the stall? Bread tags Can ring pulls Plastic milk bottle caps Jars ... Containers Newspapers and magazines We have a lovely person dedicated to recycling the bread tags, bottle caps and ring pulls but, although we are very happy you want to recycle, sadly most of the time that jars and containers are left at the stall they are not used. Please help us out and refrain from leaving items other than food, seeds, plants and the above mentioned items at the stall. If you do leave any of the allowed items at the stall and next time you visit it is looking sad please dispose of it thoughtfully. The worm farm in the garden I am sure will be happy to take any food from the stall. In saying all this if anyone needs jars there is a lot st the stall and we would be happy to see them gone

01.01.2022 A T T H E S T A L L . . . Rhubarb, apples, garlic, bay leaves, rosemary, seeds - parsley, dill, hollyhocks. Might be a bit late to plant hollyhocks for Mother’s Day but you could make a mean crumble for Sunday . As always if you are going to the post office just for the stall please try to go out of their opening hours. ... Thanks! See more
