25.01.2022 Have you heard of the Forest Sustainability Council?? Their mission is to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the worlds forests. They are the only forest management system that requires consultation with local Indigenous People with the intention of protecting their rights. By purchasing products made from FSC certified wood we have a positive impact on forests, people and wildlife. One of our values at The Natural Newborn is to ensure our Earth, its people and wildlife is not negatively impacted by the products we sell. As consumers we have the power to choose products that can empower and positively enhance the world we live in.

23.01.2022 As it is Mother's Day this week, I thought I would give a little shout out to my superhero, my beautiful Mum! Mum has been thrown some doozies throughout the years, working full time while also trying to raise two headstrong daughters as a single mum can be hard going at times. Yet through all the tough times, she showed enormous strength and grace, which I genuinely admire and strive to emulate every day. My Mum is always there for my family and me, always ready to help or willing to listen when we have stuff going on. She is an enormous part of my life and the first person I think to call when I need some advice or have something I need to work through a little. Thanks Mum! xx
23.01.2022 Fantastic article. We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to question normal life and redesign the way we operate.
23.01.2022 Help, this is my four-year-old son and me at the moment! How do you resolve the power struggle??? Every minute of every day, I feel he is pressing my buttons and testing my resolve. My gorgeous, kind little man who, to date, was always willing to help and be a part of our 'team' has gone AWOL. ... He now feels he doesn't need to help tidy up after playtime; he pushes his little sister around and says no when I ask him to do something. It is driving me crazy. I realise our current iso situation is probably compounding the problem; our routines are all over the place, and my son is missing his friends, but this gentle parenting practising mumma's patience is wearing thin! What are your tips on how to deal with power struggles with your little ones? See more
23.01.2022 Oh hey new friends!! We've had quite a few new faces pop over here in the last little while, which is just amazing!! So, hi, and welcome!! I am Leah, the owner of The Natural Newborn, pasta loving, animal lover, research fiend, walk along the beach in stormy weather kinda gal...and of course proud mumma to two beautiful children. Most days you can find me in my office working on my little biz or helping out my charities of choice, @l...ittlethingsfortinytots and Australian Breastfeeding Association. I love getting lost on the internet researching new products for the store, it's my favourite thing to do, and I get SO inspired by the truly beautiful eco options that are now available out there. When I am not working I spend my time with my kids and partner, walking, catching up with friends and family, playing with our puppies or just hanging out together (my fave thing to do). But enough about me, tell me one thing about being a parent that inspires you or lights you up? See more
23.01.2022 At The Natural Newborn we love to reuse or recycle whatever we can. We hope you don't mind, but this means your order may not arrive in a brand spanking new box with gorgeous pics of our logos etc all over it. More often than not, your order will be packaged up and mailed using recycled bubble wrap and a second hand box. We think this is awesome! If your order is on the smaller side we will use a Heropack satchel to send your products. The Heropack satchel is made from corn starch and is fully home-compostable. To compost these it is best to remove all labels, cut the bags up into smaller pieces and place in your compost bin as 'brown' material. These will completely break down within 90-120 days, sometimes even sooner!

20.01.2022 How does your child use imaginative play? How can we encourage this awesome learning opportunity for our kids? Imaginative play is when children are role playing or acting out any experience they may have had or use a subject or item of interest to them to create a pretend world. So what does pretend or imaginative play do for our children? Many things, including ... - fosters creativity - promotes physical development in a fun way - Provides an opportunity for kids to develop their language and social skills - Boosts development of problem solving and self-regulation skills - Gives parents a fun way to teach positive behaviour to their kids. Watching your child engage in imaginative play, by themselves or with others, is an absolute joy to watch. Its even more fun when we are allowed to be a part of their imaginary world! https://thenaturalnewborn.net.au/collections/natural-play See more
19.01.2022 Flame retardants, formaldehyde and benzene are just some of the chemicals found in commercially made mattresses. These chemicals are linked to health concerns such as cancer, infertility, developmental issues, migraines and asthma. If your baby’s new mattress is off-gassing harmful chemicals, your little one is breathing them in every time they are placed in their cot. If you’re wanting a few ideas on how to create a non-toxic nursery check out our latest blog post. Included in the blog are links to some awesome non-toxic and eco-friendly mattress manufacturers. 17.01.2022 Imaginative play is SO important for our kids for so many reasons. It encourages creativity, supports cognitive and social development allowing them to experiment with language, decision making and feelings. So, what can we do for our kids to encourage this type of magic? Here's a quick checklist for parents. Provide a place to play - it could be a separate room or the corner of the main living area in your home. The dining table can be quickly turned into a cubby by plac...ing a sheet over it, or do the same to the couch in the lounge and you instantly have a tunnel. Provide plenty of props and toys - this can be anything from the second kitchen draw, dress ups, play kitchens and doll houses, car tracks, cardboard boxes...whatever takes their fancy!! Be your child's playmate - kids love to play with their parents! When they bring you a cup of tea, play along and when you take a sip describe it to them using words they may not hear or use often. Provide them with experiences to role play - reading to your children will expose them to different stories, scenarios and experiences. Explore new experiences by visiting interesting places, for example the zoo or animal park, museums. Even visiting the doctor or supermarket can be something woven into their imaginative play at home. The best thing is that it is fun! Enjoy.
17.01.2022 I have been a little quiet on the social media front lately, mainly because life got a little cray-cray, with too much happening and my oldest child not dealing with changes to his routine etc., (you all get it!) and I needed to step away from a few things to create some balance. Like all of you, my kids and family come first and to focus on their needs meant everything else, including my much loved little biz, had to patiently wait for me to find some ...time. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we will be back on track very soon, providing you with more awesome content and beautiful products to check out! Thank you SO much for the patience you have afforded me!! See more

10.01.2022 What crazy fun things do you have planned for this Friday night? Our young man LOVES watching movies so we have tried to make a family ritual of it each Friday. Something simple for dinner followed by us jumping on the couch to watch a movie together as a family. My son gets to pick the flick - sometimes they're awesome choices, other times not so good, but the point is that we all make time to get together and do something fun.... Enjoy your weekend everyone! See more

10.01.2022 One of the easier ways of introducing solid food to your baby is to let them pick directly from your plate and if you are interested in baby-led weaning, this might be the perfect option for you. 09.01.2022 So, you think it might be the right time to start adding solid foods to your baby's diet? What are the developmental signs that your baby is ready to start solid food? 1.
