19.01.2022 At Early Years, children are given access to real tools such as hand drills, whittling knives, peelers and saws. We regularly do safety talks during Morning Meeting, teaching children how to use the tools intentionally and safely. This gives children the autonomy to use the tools on self guided projects, and be seen as capable and confident learners. ~TNS Early Years~

Today, they were able to see some of their drawings come to life on a site visit with the project team! And they won't have to wait long to test it out as the playground is expected to be complete by the end of September. For more information visit, https://bit.ly/3m5Jaij

08.01.2022 Using our space... at one of our sites, we have worked closely with @connectpmh to understand more about native plant species in the area, as well as the weeds. We normally try to encourage that the children don't pick from plants, or if they do to really think about the purpose. At this site however, we have been able to help maintain the site by weeding! What we have found along the way is that by teaching the children about the plants that are not native to the area, ...and allowing them to help manage that area, they now have an even stronger connection to their learning space, as well as what grows there. Instead of "Can I pick this?", we now hear, "Is this native?". Coming from 3-5 year olds, this makes us very excited for our future generations of carers of the land On this day, a small group decided they wanted to build a shelter with some serious walls! Knowing what they could and couldn't use, they went to work weeding the Bitou, reusing it to make this epic den!! ~TNS Early Years~

07.01.2022 Reaching new heights to create an epic zipline! Usually the best part of this type of experience is, for us educators, not the zipline but the look of amazement on the children's faces when they realise that we are up the tree! We love that we get to challenge ideas and show children that adults still definitely play and learn! ~TNS Early Years~
