It’s a bit like emptying your bin, recycling what you can and adding a clean fresh bin liner! So many health benefits; healthy cell signalling, immune function and reducing inflammatory pathways. ... Autophagy deficiency can promote cancer. Intermittent fasting promotes autophagy, 16:8.

23.01.2022 We may eat organic, plant-based, whole foods, exercise daily, use non-toxic skin care and household products. What do you do to support, nourish and really connect with your mind? Aside from 7-8 hours sleep (preferably 2 hours before midnight), meditation and journaling are two areas where you can begin to support and tap into your mind. ... Begin with just one session a week, see how you go

21.01.2022 When assessing risks for hormonally fuelled breast cancer, and living preventatively, we need to ask some key investigatory questions. 1. Do you have high oestrogen? Which ones? 2. How are you metabolising them? Are you doing this safely? 3. Are you exposed to exogenous oestrogen?... 4. Do you have any genetic dispositions which support unhealthy metabolism? Eg. CYP1B1, COMT, GST, as highlighted here. Once we have the whole picture, we can help support healthy oestrogen metabolism. #breastcancer #breastcancernaturopath #nutrigenomics #oestrogenmetabolism #naturopathy #integrativemedicine

19.01.2022 Sleep Aim for 7-9 hours a night, with 2 hours before midnight Why is sleep so important? ... One reason is, because it is when this super awesome hormone called MELATONIN is produced, from the pineal gland and other extra-pineal organs such as the digestive tract, bone marrow, retina and more. Melatonin has many beneficial actions on the body as an; antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, it alters fat metabolism and may block the oestrogen receptor ER alpha, and have an impact on the enzyme aromatase. AND, melatonin also exerts antineoplastic actions. How? It improves our immunosurveillance actions (like natural killer cell activity and protective cytokines), antimitotic (slowing of cancer cell division), supports apoptosis (killing of cancer cells), antiangiogenic activity (blood supply to tumours). Protective and adjunctive treatment Source: Dana PM et al, 2020.

16.01.2022 Walnuts may help breast cancer patients. What’s in walnuts which helps them be cancer protective? Ellagitannins, melatonin and gamma-tocopherol may each work through different paths to reduce oxidative stress, inflammation, and gene expression that can lead to cancer. Nuts in general are a great snack, and/or addition to salads and meals. ... ‘The study, conducted at Marshall University, shows eating two ounces of walnuts a day for about two weeks slowed breast cancer growth or reduced the risk of developing the disease’. Also, studies suggest that eating nuts, especially in place of red or processed meat or refined grains, can lower inflammation in the body. High inflammation is associated with cancer risk, including breast cancer. https://moffitt.org//eating-walnuts-may-help-breast-cance/

12.01.2022 1 in 8 women will be dignosed with breast cancer, as per current statistics. Most of us know of someone who has been diagnosed. Breast cancer isn't selective, it can develop at any age from 20s-80s+. A breast cancer diagnosis can affect all of your vulnerabilities, ignites fear, thoughts of worst case scenarios, and a complete distraction from your normal life.... It can also birth strength, determination, courage and positive emotional and physical changes in your life. I've been told many times, its not only the diagnosis, but it's also the fear of the treatments, how will I feel, how will I cope, how will I look? The fearful anticipation of waiting for results, over and over. It can take its toll. And it can be bloody hard. The support and understanding of family and friends plays a huge role, in the healing process. But often those close to you, don't know what to stay, what to do to help. They really want to help. Sometimes your diagnosis, may tap into their own fears. I have created a webinar to help provide guidance and support for anyone diagnosed with breast cancer, their family, partner and friends. It's nearly ready to launch. Please let anyone you know, who has had a recent breast cancer diagnosis, that this will be available and accessible. Help me, to share my knowledge and experiences with them.

05.01.2022 This was such lovely feedback from one of my new clients a couple of weeks ago. They were referred to me by our local health food shop Natures Harvest and didn't know too much about naturopathy. Naturopathy is a holistic healing modality, which combines the traditional knowledge of plant-based healing and modern-day research-evidence based data, to understand and treat the root causes of dis-ease. Naturopathy approaches treatments focusing on the body, mind and spirit. What y...ou may not know about naturopaths: -Naturopaths study a 4 year Bachelor of Health Science to practice. -Naturopaths have a variety of tools in their holistic medicine cabinet; herbal medicine, nutraceuticals, flower essences, homeopathics, food as medicine, movement and modes of relaxation. -Naturopaths are like investigators, searching through your health history, family history, signs & symptoms to get to the bottom of your imbalance. -Naturopaths work alongside other health practitioners to provide the best outcomes for their clients. -Naturopaths are also pretty good at reading pathology and interpreting pathology for their clients, which is super helpful for someone living with a chronic condition or a disease experience. -Naturopaths can identify nutrient deficiencies and prescribe to replete them. -Naturopaths can order all sorts of pathology for you, interpret them and provide a prescription to treat. -Naturopaths are excellent listeners. -Naturopaths can help you work through emotional blockages and psychosomatic symptoms. -Naturopaths provide individual treatment plans for you, based on your individual symptom picture. A naturopath is your guide and healing facilitator - it's partnership. We are a pretty cool and talented bunch really :)
