Just like everything this year, Dance Rites was done a little differently to what we're used to, but it didn't stop all this #IndigenousExcellence from across the country being shared! We were lucky enough to have the NCIE Field used as the location for the deadly Brolga Dance Academy performance.... Grant first came to NCIE in 2014, and since then has made some seriously incredible impact throughout NCIE, most recently as IDX Manager. Throughout his time at IDX Grant has connected with communities across Australia, from Yirrkala to Murray Bridge to Erub Island and so many places in between.... NCIE is proud to support BlaQ and their important mission of strengthening the visibility of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQ+ community.... During the height of the pandemic NCIE, our Talking About Tobacco Use program (TATU) and BlaQ came together to provide food relief to some of our most vulnerable community members. This was thanks to a grant from City of Sydney, and the whole site pulled together to make this happen- from our Hospitality team cooking up the food to our Talking About Tobacco Use team delivering it. We also partnered with BlaQ, Redfern Youth Connect and other local orgs to help get meals to those who needed it!... 13.01.2022 Yesterday, Luke Briscoe, Manager of our Indigenous Digital Excellence (IDX) program, was on the panel for the NAIDOC Minecraft Education Challenge. Luke and his fellow panellists of tech leaders discussed the importance of accessing cultural teaching and digital skills for Indigenous and non-Indigenous students. Over 1000 students from across Australia participated in the first ever Challenge, which the IDX team helped co-deliver with Indigital Storytelling.... If there were more Indigenous culture embedded in Minecraft, I think our future is pretty safe in the hands of kids who are ultimately going to be drivers of culture in the future, he said.
