21.05.2022 Healthy eating and physical activity contribute to children’s ability to socialise, concentrate, cooperate and learn. Learning about healthy lifestyles including nutrition and physical fitness is integral to well being and confidence. (Early Years Learning Framework pg 30) Our Kids in the Kitchen healthy eating program aims to raise awareness of healthy eating, making healthy food choices and the body’s ability to use food as fuel and build confidence in the children’s abili...ty to engage with healthy food. All aspects of healthy and positive eating are interwoven into the experience and then delivered in intentional teaching throughout the activity. Our engagement with Nutrition Australia has celebrated our program and as external quality auditors, they see this as an exceeding element of our program. #kidsinthekitchen #nutritionmatters #healthyeating #welovehealthyfood #exceedingthestandard #centreofexcellence

10.05.2022 The anticipation and the conversation.. as we wait for the butterfly to take flight. The learning journey these children have been on is incredible.. the curiosity and wonder they express as they understand the world around them. This is why we do what we do ... #progettazione #reggioinspired #ourteamarethebest #throughtheeyesofachild

07.05.2022 Our number # 2 Monarch butterfly enjoyed a long drink before being released today.. it was too wet to release it over weekend, so Sarah researched the best way to keep the butterfly alive until the children could release it this morning..a honey mixture was given to the butterfly and Sarah captured it drinking it last night. (super cool!) This is teaching dedication at its finest! #ourteamarethebest #natureplay #stemeducation #reallifexperience #learningthroughplay #progettazione

24.01.2022 Making birds nests for the babies in our parklands.. the children were concerned that the baby birds in the parklands might fall through the nests...they wanted to stop this from occurring. An intricate design evolved with exploration of the many different ways to keep natural products together while keeping the integrity of the nest design... Natural components were sourced from our playscape and used in our art studio in the children’s design-make-appraise’ process. Chil...dren are wonderfully capable and competent with many layers of sophisticated thinking. Our skilled teachers see this and spend their time developing this with the children = a lifelong love of learning and discovery! #reggioinspired #reggioemiliaapproach #childrenarecapableandconfidentlearners #childrenarealwayslearning #natureplay #exceedingthestandard #boutiqueearlylearning #centreofexcellence See more

23.01.2022 We are huge fans of Maggie Dent here at the NEST - she has a great podcast on Spotify- jump on and follow if you are a podcast fan.. we talk often about how children can be 'roosters and lambs'; its a great way to understand your child and what they need. We often get comments from families that their children's temperaments are so different from each other.. some great tips here to support your parenting.

19.01.2022 Reflective surfaces and mirrors fascinate children, especially our youngest age groups here at the NEST... placing the mirrors flat on the floor allows the children to see themselves in an entirely different way. Reflection, light, size, positioning, interplay and shape disposition are all concepts that are enveloped in the horizontal placement of our mirrors; allowing our babies the time, space and opportunity to explore. It becomes magical as they become very self awar...e, observing themselves from a brand new angle..developing spatial awareness and that all important early understanding of positioning We are taking limited bookings for our nursery and toddler classrooms for 2021; if you are thinking of our centre for you and your family, give us a call on 55312964 to book a tour of our centre and meet our early childhood specialists. #babiesarecapable #childrenarecapableandconfidentlearners #reggioemiliaapproach #reggioinspired #exceedingexpectations #boutiqueearlylearning #centreofexcellence

13.01.2022 Our cycle of inquiry in full swing today extending on our observation and creation of the spiders web .... to truly understand, children need to DO.. and we focus strongly on this at the NEST. Their curiosities weren’t satisfied yesterday and the children wanted to know more about the webs.. so they built one with the blocks, using their hands, large body movements and visually they looked down on the web from above. To make the representation complete. They then documented... what they saw in their floor books; drawing their webs and seeing the correlation between the block creation and their markings on paper. We believe it is crucial to support effective learning communities and in order to do this we need dedicated time to fully immerse the children in their interest and collaborate with them along the way. There is no more important job than this. #reggioemiliaapproach #reggioinspired #natureplay #childrenarecompetentandcapable #environmentisthethirdteacher #exceedingthestandard #centreofexcellence See more
