25.01.2022 Midwifery is such a lifelong journey of learning, unraveling, questioning, trusting, and looking deep within yourself - much like pregnancy and birth! Every single woman we walk beside teaches us something and effectively midwifes US to a deeper and more knowledgeable place. Often the lessons we learn are not what we are expecting to, but that capacity to reflect is paramount and to have the opportunity to go deeper and learn more is what life is all about. Santana, Jacob an...d baby Nora, you reinforced my trust in normal, undisturbed first birth. Your quiet and gentle calm reminded me that my role is just to walk beside, trust and not direct. You most significantly reminded me that powerful strength and determination can come in small packages - not just big ones! And I have loved every single minute of our journey together. Thank you for choosing us #continuityofcare #pirvatemidwifery #pregnancy #birthmatters #midwife See more

22.01.2022 Here’s to sunrises, post birth breakfasts, tired but blissfully happy midwives, beautiful powerful women ... and vernix!

12.01.2022 The decolonisation of birth - learning from our First Nations people Today on the show I speak to Aboriginal Australian and Wiradjuri and Ngemba/Wayilwan woman ...Fleur Magick Dennis. Fleur is Mum to 4 children - 3 of whom she birthed on country - or as Fleur explains to me in our discussion the term she prefers is birthing as country. Her births sound amazing - almost idyllic and dream like. She talks about one birth and how she birthed outside by the river, in-between the gorges - truely magic. Fleur is incredibly insightful, eloquent and really gave me so much understanding of the Aboriginal culture surrounding birth. The spiritual teachings and preparations she talks about are really interesting and totally marry up with the science of birth - which is not surprising to me at all. Really we all have so much to learn from our first nations people and I am incredibly glad that Fleur agreed to come on the show and share her wisdom. She talks about the ceremonies for her placentas and her newborn babies that she did, also about birth and death being intrinsically linked and women’s business. She also talks about the fear from indigenous and non indigenous people about her decision to birth out bush. She explains to me about how up until the 60’s Aboriginal women weren’t even allowed to birth in hospitals (something I did not know) and how some family thought what she was doing birthing out in the bush was counterproductive to what they had fought for. Australia’s history with our indigenous people is unfortunately very dark and often hidden but Fleur’s work is really helping open up a lot of peoples eyes. Lastly she suggests - for those of us in a privileged position how we can help our indigenous sisters. I came away from this chat so inspired and wanting to know so much more - so I will have to have her back! Thank you Fleur. Listen here: ITunes: https://podcasts.apple.com//podcast/the-reneg/id1510707553 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/6oG5xqiOKu3nOcAlIcDCqF About Fleur - Fleur Magick Dennis is a Wiradjuri and Ngemba/Wayilwan woman and a mother of four boys. Fleur birthed three out of her four sons in the bush as sacred Aboriginal cultural births. Fleur and her mother & female family members undertook women’s business ceremonies in Country for each of her sons. 07.01.2022 Welcome earth side to our newest nest baby, who arrived in a big hurry last evening - clearly wanting to see this beautiful sunset over her farm xxx

07.01.2022 Another beautiful family midwyfed through their pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey we said goodbye to Steph last night with a very special ‘closing the bones’ ceremony.... Ceremonies and rituals both motivate and move us, through these practices in life we make transitions. Ceremonies create and sustain identity and, as women allow us to celebrate and move through phases of our lives. A closing the bones ceremony honours the journey a woman has taken to conceive, carry, birth and nurture her baby. It celebrates her, is relaxing, includes massage, snacks and tea and we are so glad Steph loved hers we honour you - and will miss you!!

01.01.2022 A big thank you to gorgeous Kate for allowing me to share her beautiful post. I know some people might get tired of hearing 'it gets better', but it really does. Before you know it, that 'fourth trimester' is over & your ready for the next chapter. The adventure continues........ #youvegothis Marnie ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE F O U R T H TRIMESTER It’s been 3 months of loving this sweet child of ours! 3 months of a world gone topsy turvy and turned upside down. Day becomes night becomes day and they all blur into one. The little love bubble of isolation and wonder 12 weeks of a roller coaster of highs and lows and everywhichways, of second and third and fifteenth guessing, of feeling like failures and feeling like superheroes. Of melting into a puddle of tenderness for those first few smiles and sweet little noises 87 days of a bond that just grows and grows, of a love that is so fierce and overwhelming that it can’t possibly be real, of a new sense of purpose that we never even imagined 2088 hours of our hearts bursting at the love and support sent to us from near and far. Of the warm fuzziness from reading all of the beautiful messages and opening all of the glorious and thoughtful gifts to celebrate our little babe. All those hours of tireless guidance from our shining light and Nanna, Deb 7,516,800 seconds of wearing this invisible crown of Motherhood. Of wanting to stop and hug every mother I’ve ever known, in awe of what they do. Those millions of seconds of recovery and struggle and growth Rupert my love, we made it! 3 months of Eleanor Wattle
