22.01.2022 Coaches, Umpires and Players. This applies to all of us.

22.01.2022 How amazing is this!

22.01.2022 While for most it’s the end of the strangest netball season EVER, we’re all looking forward to our carnival in Adelaide in 2021 and instead of elbow bumps, hug...ging it out at the friendliest netball carnival out there. It’s never too early to start planning. #marlestonnetball #southaustralia #ilovenetball #cananetball See more

21.01.2022 The Suncorp Super Netball and Deakin University Australian Netball League 2020 seasons will be deferred and will not commence prior to the 30 June. Full details - https://supernetball.com.au//suncorp-super-netball-2020-se

20.01.2022 For this weeks #offthecourt I got a little ambitious with @sharni_layton masterclass (check out the full show - link in bio.) the focus was looking at defensi...ve movements off the body and winning ball. This can be used by any defender and for those asking what to do when youre a shorter defence this works a treat! Firstly practise your footwork the quicker you can get get your step changes the more effective youll be on court. Make sure you work on your angles and not flat. Secondly add in the ball so it combines your QUICK STEP with a drive. The step is there to change the angle and get you off the body for a CLEAN intercept. Finally improvise, Ive brought the lamp back gives you a target to get around and show how your step offs are used to give you the drive to the ball. Lastly check out the legend in action. She was so quick to come off (watch CLOSELY for the steps) and then COMMIT to the drive. she was absolutely lethal at winning ball as the last one standing. #netball #drill #training #defence #stepchanges #footwork #speed See more

20.01.2022 Now this looks like a great solo session. Remember you dont need to do it fast at first. Get your passes and footwork right and then add speed and power.

19.01.2022 Whats more important? Quality Netball skills and possibly losing OR playing to cause penalties and acting as if you were contacted and winning? I know what my answer is but I see many think that win at all costs is how to achieve their netball goals. I prefer skill and sportsmanship personally. ... Looking forward to the comments of our members.

18.01.2022 Wow such an amazing interview. Beryl speaks and explains things so beautifully.

18.01.2022 So breakdancing is a sport now for the Olympics and Netball still can’t get a look in. My thoughts are that we need to get our friends who play netball in America to start speaking up and asking too. Maybe then the Olympic committee will take some notice!

16.01.2022 WHAT IS THE VERDICT? the two point shot? Is it ok in our game? Was it that bad after all? What does everyone think?

16.01.2022 How often do we see talent in young athletes, but as they grow up they drop away. Then the players that had normal skills go on and become a real talent! The difference is the hard work, commitment, determination, passion and most all the desire. Anyone can improve its just about how much they want to.

16.01.2022 Who cares if you are not a Rep player or not in the Grand Final team. Did you have fun? That’s all that matters!Who cares if you are not a Rep player or not in the Grand Final team. Did you have fun? That’s all that matters!

16.01.2022 So it seems that the administrators seem to want to change things about our game of netball. Maybe some things could be improved but again why fix something that isn’t broken? Or is it broken? Apparently it could be and we are so besotted we cannot see it. So if you could what would you fix about our game? Anything from rules to uniforms, grading, clubs anything? Tell us what you think needs to be improved or updated?

15.01.2022 Hey Coach! Are you coachable? Coaches need to be open to learning and growing too. Are you able to listen and take on new things just as players need to?Hey Coach! Are you coachable? 15.01.2022 How amazing was this.

15.01.2022 Our CEO Catherine Clark provides an update to our Netball Queensland community regarding the Return to Play roadmap. #NetballUnited #NettyQ

15.01.2022 I remember my favourite coach from St Clair Netball Club in NSW. She not only encouraged me as a netball player but as a person. Even at times needing to put me in my place and at others to lift me out of the depths of despair. I am also lucky enough that 35 years later we are still friends.

14.01.2022 Shooters need to do more than just shoot. They also need to be advise and fit.

14.01.2022 Covid 19 can be blamed for a lot of things that have inconvenienced us with our netball this year. Many competitions have been cancelled or delayed and with many of us feeling extremely restless and missing our team mates and friends it hasnt been the best of times. Yet one good thing that has and will come from this crazy time is the realisation as to why we play and are involved in the various roles in our sport. Two words: FRIENDS and FUN!... We have missed our friendships that have been made over the years, and its also reinforced the fun that we share. This 2020 season will be the FUN season. Not many will care about winning or losing, nor how fit or fantastic we are. We just want to play our game with our friends! The junior ages will be full of energy to burn and the seniors will need a bit of extra time to get back up to speed after such a long break. Yet no one will care, we just want to get out on court and play!

14.01.2022 So if a team plays using bad sportsmanship and causing and pretending penalties, whos fault is it? COACH or UMPIREs?

14.01.2022 We all need to work together and support each other during these crazy times. Even the big leagues struggle. Keep I. Touch with your team mates. Lets remind each other of why we really love our sport.

12.01.2022 I saw this on another page & had to share it! Support small business especially with Mothers Day coming up.

10.01.2022 Commentators and the commentating - what do you love and hate about the commentating. Personally I don’t like all the small talk. I want to know about the game and the plays being used and what skill is on display or why players are doing what they do. What the coaches mean when they use netball terminology. I also hate when one minute they are saying how bad someone is playing and then when they do something great they now praise them. Oh sorry that the football commentators. They think we won’t remember

10.01.2022 Those long ranges are undefendable!

09.01.2022 Practice these moves with your defenders at training. These are crucial opportunities to regain possession.

09.01.2022 Well it looks like there is a lot of negativity around the changes to the SSN game and the 2 point shot! Im not a fan, though I do enjoy reading everyones thought and opinions. I just cant help wonder why those that make these decisions feel there needs to be change to our beloved game?... Could it be they think it will draw more TV ratings? Well if they televised the games when we werent all at our own games that would be helpful. Could it be to get more people to attend games? If they played the games at times we werent playing our own games that would be helpful too and stadiums can only take so many people. Could it be because non Netballers are not interested and they want to get others to watch? Well Im a netballer and I dont really care about watching football. So why do They care if a footballer doesnt want to watch netball? Though I will say that more women play netball that is true. Though Mens netball is amazing. Lets start having 2 teams in each licence holder. One female and one male? I wonder if then the tables will turn, the sponsorships and the telecasting would probably sky rocket. I know I would love it! But I love it because its netball. Just leave it alone and if you want to expand think outside the box to enhance participation and spectators, not make changes when you dont understand the passion that the game has within its fans and participants. There is much more to the game when you are a netballer. You get it. You love it. So leave it alone.

09.01.2022 We need to learn how to lose and how to win. Also to learn what it takes to improve. Not just in sport but in life.

06.01.2022 How true is this statement?!

06.01.2022 Every player deserves to be respected by their coach just as the coach should be respected by the playersEvery player deserves to be respected by their coach just as the coach should be respected by the players

05.01.2022 Missing Everyone? - Its nice to get a break, yet one thing this COVID-19 has proved to me is how much I not just miss my netball, but how much I miss my netball friends. I miss the enthusiasm that meets me every Saturday when I arrive at the courts. The players all excited to see each other, to hearing the chatter about the game they have prepared for at training this week with a new skill they have been practicing. I miss seeing all the colour and the people passing by sayi...ng Gday and wanting to share their weekly news. I miss the volunteers in the canteen this week, and the smell of sausages and onion on the BBQ. Some people think these jobs are a chore, but to us who do pitch in, we have a good laugh and make new friends along the way as well. I miss players coming to tell you about a great intercept they got that day, or that they made the second stage of selections for their school team! I miss siting with the parents on the side line having a chat, finding out about their lives and families. Talking and creating an environment that people want to participate in. Whether its to be healthy, have a giggle with friends, be competitive or challenged with new ideas or figuring out how to solve old obstacles. I miss NETBALL! so lets all do as the leaders say so the sooner this can be over and we can get back together and enjoy this 2020 season.

04.01.2022 Agility and timing at its best!

04.01.2022 To master the intercept is one skill that every coach and team mate loves in a player. This is what creates opportunities to score more goals.

04.01.2022 Well we may not be able to go to netball with our team mates but we can practice at home still!

03.01.2022 When coaches talk about fast feet or footwork etc they are meaning small fast steps to keep the body stable and agile. The concept behind this is small fast steps allow the players body to be relatively up right to create balance and with strong core body movements. This also means the eyes and head are up thus aware of the movement on court and the whereabouts of the ball. Also the arms are also ready to catch or intercept. This exercise in this clip shows the speed and agility but at the same time the player can change directions and her whole body is ready to lead off into the new move. We practice this so that our brain will know automatically to use these movements to keep us balanced and quick to respond. Thats means the player can then focus on the game and the opposition instead of thinking about their movements.

01.01.2022 Some fun stuff to do whilst we are at home.

01.01.2022 This is sad but true.
