22.01.2022 Judy Martin - Women’s Dreaming 850mm x 500mm Acrylic on Canvas This dreaming tells about women’s ceremony. It affirms women’s place in the Warlpiri society. The dreaming story marks large tracks of land of which women are guardian over. Particular men are workers for the women, they are called kurdungurlu. This works in reverse as well, where the particular women work for particular men. Only the women know this dreaming. It talks about travelling from north to south, west to east into the new sun signifying a new day and new life. They teach all the young kids. 22.01.2022 Posted @withregram @robynmorris_atelier Well this has come around quickly. This months workshop is this Saturday. Yes this Saturday! We are making two baskets. Random weave and a twined basket with grasses and all sorts of foraged fibres from nature. You take home knowledge of two techniques and two complete baskets. On a different note: Today I experienced something pretty amazing. I took the dog to our big wilderness park and whilst she was paddling I was playing with we...aving the bottom basket in the pic. I took a selfie of us and when I looked back at it I saw the clearest green halo aura around me. The camera captured it. I usually see auras as a mirage. I am so humbled it was green as I was surrounded by Mother Nature and in my happiest creative self: making things. Anyway it was pretty cool and I just need to share that. 16.01.2022 Posted @withregram @meredithwoolnough Harp Coral(Ctenocella pectinata) 2016 Embroidery Polyester Emroidery Thread and Pins on Paper Framed: 93 x 99 x 4 cm This piece is one of the first big double layer embroideries I have created. Just like the coral specimen it was based upon it has a lyre (or comb) shape with two main branches. It then has many long thin branchlets that grow up from the main branch in a parallel arrangement. Because many of these branchlets overlapped sl...ightly it took a bit of engineering to stitch and mount this multi layered piece, but it was worth it. This piece will be included in the @sydneycraftweek exhibition at @thenewartisansgallery in Milsons Point, Sydney.
