14.01.2022 When I recommend something I do it because it is in my clients' best interest. My goal is to have a returning customer base and to do this you need to look after the best interests of the customer. This builds trust. It makes me angry when I come across unnecessary upselling. I have recently been to a job where the client was told by a tradesman that their house would literally fall apart and this appliance would fall through the roof if it was not removed. Once I got up into... the ceiling I could clearly see that was not the case. This is what I call dishonest upselling. How upselling is meant to work is recommending a product or service that is in the customers best interest. However it has turned into trying to sell as much as possible even if the customer does not need or want this product or service. So when I recommend a product or service know that it is your best interest. This is because I am building a good customer base that actually has trust and because Canberra is a small city where your reputation as a business is really important. Thanks Chris
