22.04.2022 Day 1 Last night I made it back to Tasmania just before the border closure curfew, a measure to help manage the impact of the pandemic...made it in before it ...became mandatory to self-isolate for 14 days! On the plane were 'all the sons and daughters (well, some of them at least)' returning to face the crisis - together! The Chinese characters for 'crisis' has two meanings - danger and opportunity. On Day 1 of border closure I reflect on my internal opportunities - use time wisely; explore new ways of doing things; be present with nearest and dearest and chart the path through uncertainty with the most powerful of navigational tools - values. 25.01.2022 The guy out the front of the room in this picture is Ed O'Malley from the Kansas Leadership Centre. We've been following his work in leadership development in relation to how it might fit with our community engagement and collective impact processes. It was an awesome day where Ed talked about the key leadership competencies of Diagnosis; Managing Self; Energising Others; and Intervening Skillfully. All he talks about and all he's experienced resonated so much because at the bottom of it is a heartfelt belief that when you know what you want to work on and who will work with you, those really BIG community issues can be tackled. #INSPIRED
24.01.2022 What are we talking about? We're talking about our future and what we need to work on together to make sure our young people and all who live in our region have the opportunity to reach their potential. 300 people participated in the Great South Coast Regional Assembly. On On!
24.01.2022 Day 2 finale of fabulous weekend on the coast working on the new aged care quality standards with a team of outstanding individuals. One Team. Positive. Productive. Creative. Considered.
22.01.2022 First Tasmanian Leaders Program Residential over. Sign above Lynda's head says it all. Great gathering.
21.01.2022 The 2017 Four Rooms of Change International User Group Conference has come to a close. Covered off a couple of things for me. Bob and I presented our use of the tools as part of leadership development; spent a week in beautiful Stockholm reconnecting with the Swedish Partners; AND met Claes Janssen, the creator of this most elegant and compelling theory on change and its positive impact on leadership, communications and culture. Remarkable learnings on a remarkable journey to the top of the world.

18.01.2022 Essential viewing; outstanding panel and audience Let's build from this conversation
17.01.2022 Some jobs really are special. This week the Noagroup had the pleasure of visiting Budj Bim. For thousands of years before European colonisation the Gunditjmara people developed this extinct volcano into a aquaculture system, catching eels and fish - to be smoked latter (yum!) We've spent this week travelling around the Great South Coast region talking to a huge variety of people in some exceptional places. We can't deny though - Budj Bim was a total highlight!
17.01.2022 Bob, lining up the skills of the Tasmanian Leaders Program participants....an awesome collection.

16.01.2022 ROCKETMAN AND BELONGING At the end of the work week I found myself immersed in the film Rocketman, the story of Elton Johns early life and his struggle to find a sense of belonging whilst being wrapped in a cloak of emotional alienation from his family and coping with a meteoric rise to fame. No spoilers as to how the film ends but it is a triumph of the power of forgiveness leading to a sense of knowing and belonging; feeling at home and at ease with yourself and the worl...d around you. For the five days prior to being at the cinema, the noagroup had been talking to older Australians about belonging. What were the things that helped them feel as if they belonged? Many told stories of the work or job they had previously undertaken giving them a sense of belonging; some spoke of their family home and how they had shaped their life and belonging over decades. But now, neither job nor the bricks and mortar of a family home were available to help define their individual sense of belonging. So, without those things what does? Within the life stories and insights they told was the wisdom and defining characteristics of a sense of belonging. It does not rely on job or home but on the relationships between people having respect for one another; acknowledging anothers story and experiences; being able to live a dignified life; always choosing to be kind and respectful to each another. So, as I sat watching the story of one of the most famous people in the world struggle with his own sense of belonging, I was struck by the fact that we may not be equal humans, but we are, equally human. I was grateful for the stories that had been given so generously by the older Australians we spent time with and also being able to learn from them what we need to feel we belong each others respect, dignity and kindness. These wise seniors expressed belonging through one word - 'togetherness'. Borrowing and changing just a little was the thought I had at the end of Rocketman - How wonderful life is while were together in the world!

10.01.2022 UPDATE: BUDJ BIM GAINS WORLD HERITAGE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. CONGRATULATIONS TO DENIS ROSE AND THE GUNDITJMARA PEOPLE Leadership is an activity, not a position. From our work, we know this to be true. Over the past few weeks we've been working with Regional Development Victoria and weve seen a lot of leadership that has absolutely inspired us. Wed like to introduce you to Denis Rose, a Gunditjmara elder who along with his people are seeking UNESCO World Heritage nomination for... the Budj Bim cultural landscape. No small feat and a very big deal! Their actions have the potential to deliver cultural recognition, land protection and economic outcomes. noagroup's Cait Kelly talked to Rose about this journey, what it meant for his people and the future of the region. It was little wonder that what Cait captured was a story of purpose, engagement, energy and action inspired leadership! See more

09.01.2022 Change can definitely feel like balancing on a dodgy step bridge, stuck between whether to ‘stay or go’! What can help is understanding more about how people respond during change and the ‘Zero Point’ you need to work to ensure future choices are energised and confident. I was recently introduced to the ‘Immunity to Change’, a compelling, validated framework that can help you make the right choice. https://www.noagroup.online/news-1

07.01.2022 noagroup are proud to be one of the thousands of businesses standing with young people this Friday for the Global Climate Strike.
06.01.2022 I got a new iPhone yesterday which I left in its box overnight (much to my teenage children's disgust!) because I was dreading the day I would have to give up to go through a process of transferring all data from the old to the new. Our account is run by the local Telstra Business Centre. The manager, Mr Calnan, had given me instructions on how to make the switch and said to yell if it wasn't working out the way it should. Not hard to guess the outcome....the mere fact t...hat the new technology addition remained in the box overnight was a bit of a hint on the degree of hesitation. On 'the' day, I promise I gave it my best shot, but when I opened the data and there were only messages, images and contacts from four years ago...my defeat was palpable and the internal frustration fearsome. Enter Mr Calnan again....unsolicited he rang and asked 'How's it going?'. A personal visit to our office followed...diagnosis of 'fail' (delivered in his gentle manner), accessing data I thought lost forever and taking 'trickier' bits back to his people...at the close of work day... a final 'I'll ring tomorrow and tell you what we've been able to restore'. What is this? Well simply, this is not just good but GREAT customer service. And it was so-o-o-o appreciated; so much so I'm telling you about it and I'll keep telling others. Now tonight, I've just seen Ian Yates, CEO of COTA Australia, on 'The Checkout' giving a run down on how consumers are making choices about providers because they now can....and they will! It was a great piece and gave me the opportunity to 'join the dots' between my technology experience and the customer service i had received and what's happening in aged care. Your business reputation (and growth) is all about customer service, not just good customer service but GREAT customer service. In the new aged care market place we need to be mindful of the advice given by Mr Yates so we're aware and always improving and be more like Mr Calnan and his awesome attitude to his customers. 06.01.2022 From the industry of the port to the industry of the renewables - we've seen them all this week!
06.01.2022 Our work today took us into the beginnings of our co-designing process around a health and well-being precinct. I love the way co-designing begins with diagnosing the present situation which is what these remarkable people are doing so issues are deeply understood and multi-interpetations explored.....the best!
04.01.2022 At the end of the ACAR funding round! My desk looks like a big mess but what I see is a deep thinking mine of data, analysis, strategies and aspirations. Wishing all of you success.
04.01.2022 Spent a great night last night watching these leaders graduate from the Tasmanian Leaders Program which the noagroup helps facilitate. The valedictory address is delivered by one of the leaders on behalf of their group. The engaging, heartfelt and instructive address highlighted the journey from denial during the first residential to confusion over whether change could be achieved and what each one needed to let go of to reach their potential to inspiration as everything appeared possible to contentment and working on the difference each could make to themselves, their organisations, business and community. Bringing the Four Rooms of Change to these people and this extraordinary leadership program made Bob and I smile....and smile....and smile! #greatnight #hangingoutwithlegends
03.01.2022 Some Christmas time reflections from the residents and staff at May Shaw in Scottsdale and Swansea in Tasmania. Noagroup produced the video as part of our 'Driving May Shaw' engagement process earlier this year. Notwithstanding the Royal Commission, it is clearly not all doom and gloom in the aged care sector. For noagroup the project has been a special one.
03.01.2022 What's this all about? How can BIG issues like the revelations of the Banking Royal Commission; ideological political tensions; the prying eyes of the state in our day to day lives and even cheating at cricket be understood? That was the task given to the Tasmanian Leaders Group at their final residential this year. They were asked to diagnose and interpret these big issues using their understanding of the Four Rooms of Change and then report on how they as 'leader' would help all involved, move on. The reporting was wonderfully entertaining and the interpretations revealed deeper levels of understanding not only about what the issues were all about but what might be done about them. Awesome!

02.01.2022 A few days ago we asked the internet to stop misery scrolling for a moment, and to sing with us! Over 1000 people from 18 countries submitted a video of their p...erformance of Close To You (Burt Bacharach) in just TWO DAYS. Every submission that we successfully received was manually added to the collective. And then we saw the magic unfold Plug in those earphones and turn this up! We cant adequately express in words what a gift your videos were to us. Each was like unwrapping a beautiful, personal, virtual hug. Thanks for trusting us with your voices, and for sharing your lives with us for a few minutes. We really hope the result gives you something to smile about. Wed love you to share it far and wide (please note, we wont ask you to make it viral) Special thanks to Sleepy Mountain Films for this incredible edit. Until our next Couch Choir session Pub Choir
01.01.2022 The noagroup just spent time in Victoria's Great South Coast facilitating their Regional Partnership Assembly. Regional Partnerships are an initiative of the Andrews Government and provide opportunities for the community to have their voice heard and make their priorities known. We love this idea. Part of the 'voices' heard were those of an exceptional group of young people from schools throughout the region. This image says much more than its subject matter. It says hope and opportunity, inspiration, energy, being part of something bigger. We love this idea too.
