25.01.2022 Get excited people, the Northern Saints Senior fixture for 2021. After a year without it, be sure you lock in all these dates, and don’t miss any of the action as our new look Senior squad squares up again in Division 2 EDFL football. Go the Saints

25.01.2022 From us to you, we hope 2021 brings you and your loved ones good health, peace and happiness. Let’s not be complacent and work together to ensure we learn from past events and we can get back to a normal life this year. Go Saints

25.01.2022 Please note, due to the recent announcement that Fawkner has been marked as one of the suburbs with the highest cases, the decision has been made to cancel Senior Training tonight. We will reassess this decision in the coming days. By that time, we also hope to have a final decision on this season. We appreciate everyones cooperation and understanding, and do hope everyone stays safe. Go Saints.

25.01.2022 Strap yourselves in folks, for a classic EDFL encounter, and a historic day for our club.

25.01.2022 When we asked to meet up with one of our favourite sons, Matty Bennardo, the poor kid got confused and assumed it was a ‘show-and-tell’ segment. It does prove however, how long Matthew has been a proud Northern Sainter, following in his father, Peter’s footsteps, who also tranced around Charles Mutton Reserve, for Fawkner back in the day. Either way, we did get him to recommit to the club for the upcoming season, amongst all the confusion. It is great to have Matthew back on ...board again, who is keen to emulate his childhood heroes who performed so well nearly a decade ago in the blue, green and red, by hopefully achieving the ultimate success. A versatile left footer, Matthew is known for his high energy, and willingness to work, and to push the club to even greater heights. Well done Matthew and Go Saints See more

24.01.2022 And finally, the news we’ve been waiting 12 months to hear. Tamer Abdallah and Eliot Kako have decided to return to the Northern Saints for 2021. They bring back with them much welcomed experience, both being part of the 2013 Premiership, and both also having been captain of our great club. Both men are well respected not only at the Saints, but also in the Essendon District Football League. Tamer and Eliot are excited about being mentors to some of our up and coming senior p...layers, and hopefully helping them achieve the ultimate success, together. Not only is this a boost on the field, but also off as they have been role models for so many of our junior players, who will be just as pleased to see them return, as we are. Go the Saints See more

24.01.2022 Lock in the dates people, it’s official, and we can’t wait for Round 1...... Ok Round 2

22.01.2022 In a time where opportunists are seizing their moment to capitalise on the current situation, great to see past player, current supporter and sponsor Peter Cole maintaining his reputation in the industry by providing value for money equipment at standard prices. Please get in contact with Peter for all your cleaning and sanitary equipment.

22.01.2022 The Northern Saints would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kevin Carrick who passed away over night. Kev was a past BOPS player and was a keen supporter of both the BOPS and the Northern Saints in our earlier years, before he moved to Bendigo. Kev was a passionate supporter, always willing to offer his ‘advice’ to opposition players and umpires. Rest In Peace Kev.

21.01.2022 The Northern Saints Community would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of John Cannon who passed away. John was a life member of St. Oliver’s Football Club. John coaches many junior teams throughout his journey with the club. R.I.P. John.

21.01.2022 The Northern Saints are excited to announce that all 3 Senior Teams Coaches have recommitted to 2021. Firstly to Life Member Peter Lohner, who will take the helms of our Senior Team. Peter has been instrumental in driving club culture and a team first approach, and is excited to nurture some of our home grown talents. Also Rick Baxter will coach our Reserves Team. Rick brought a wealth of experience to our club and immediately became a popular figure. Still as fit as a fiddl...e, Rick still has a trick or two up his sleeve which he likes to demonstrate quite frequently at training. And lastly to Glynn, last years joint Club Person of the Year, proof of Glynns attitude and also his loyalty to Football in the Northern Suburbs, having first played at North Fawkner, many moons ago. All three are waiting for a normal resumption to local football sooner rather than later. Go the Saints See more

21.01.2022 STATEMENT - The EDFL Board of Management has this evening made a final decision on the status of the 2020 EDFL senior football season. All details below. http://essendondfl.com.au/final-decision-on-2020-edfl-seni/

20.01.2022 After hearing from our club members recently, and some careful consideration, the Northern Saints Committee has decided to withdraw ALL teams for season 2020, including the cancellation of the 2020 Auskick program. Following on from our suburb, Fawkner, being named as one of the States highest infected areas, this decision was the only one we could make given the fact that Fawkner will be in lockdown. The decision was made with the safety of our community as our primary focus..., something we could not guarantee, however we also took in to consideration the extra strain on volunteers and the logistics. We thank everyone who has helped out in any way over the last few months, especially our coaches, and we do hope everyone stays safe. For anyone who has paid their membership, there are two options, you can either roll that over to cover for 2021, or we can offer you a full refund. If you would like a refund, please email our Club Treasurer on [email protected] or by phone on 0417326828, preferably with a copy of your receipt, and your bank details. There is no doubt many people have not taken this virus seriously, so if there is a lesson to be learnt, it is to continue to obey the advice we have been given by the Health Authorities and our Government. Together, we can control it, but if a few of us dont, than we will all pay the price. Stay safe, and Go the Saints in 2021

19.01.2022 There was more great news to come out of The Northern Suburbs sporting capital, Charles Mutton Reserve with home grown star, Nick Bruno recommitting to the Northern Saints, for the next two seasons. Nick is ready to take his game to the next level after doing his apprenticeship under some of the club’s biggest names in recent years. A player with all the attributes, he is capable of turning a game on its head. Nick was one of the standouts last preseason, and was evolving in ...to a future leader at the Saints. Will Nick and co finally get their chance to lead our great club? All will be revealed tomorrow as we name our Senior Leadership Group for 2021. Go the Saints See more

19.01.2022 We have all been affected in different ways through the COVID-19 pandemic. Some are sorry they arent able to play the game they love, others not allowed to go away holidaying, or others, who cant socialise. Some, are being denied the most basic of necessities. Our very own Hanad Hersi is on the frontline trying to do his bit for his community. Please, we urge anyone who is a part of the Northern Saints and wider community, to get in touch via the details and help out in any... way you can. We are all in this together. Well done to Big H and lets get behind him and these people in need. See more

17.01.2022 Not only are our players recommitting, so too are our coaches. Vic Barresi D'Angelo is back to coach our Girls Under 16’s Team for 2021. Vic and the club can’t wait to keep the momentum going for the girls, after their outstanding debut season way way back in 2019, when face masks weren’t even a thing. This team has helped propel our Girls program, with the eventual goal of fielding our first ever Senior Women’s Team, not too far away. Vic is one of the key people helping dri...ve that end goal, which we all hope happens sooner than later. Watch this space for more. For now, it’s go the Saints and go girls. See more

17.01.2022 Its been 2 years to the day of 2 fantastic triumphs in the same day. Well done to Brendan OBrien and Rehab Zahraman for joining some elite company in Northern Saints company as Premiership coaches.

17.01.2022 The EDFL, in conjunction with the EFNL, NFNL, SEJ and WRFL, have provided a joint statement on the status of all competitions for the 2020 season. http://essendondfl.com.au/all-competitions-cancelled-for-s/

17.01.2022 2021 Junior Coaching Applications have opened. We are looking for coaches for our Under 12’s, Under 14’s for boys and girls teams, and our Under 16 Boys. 13.01.2022 It has been a quiet few weeks for us Victorians, as we come to terms with our new reality. But today is a significant day in our short history. It was on this day, 7 years ago, our Senior Team created history at Windy Hill by winning its first ever Premiership at Senior level beating arch rival, Glenroy 13 23- 101 to 13 9- 87. In a bruising contest that had it all, the boys came out victors by 14 points, earning our club promotion to Premier Division. Since then, we have had ...a roller coaster ride, but we look to hopefully one day emulate what this group achieved. And who knows, maybe it will be some of our 2013 Under 10s Premiership Team, that will be a part of it. See more

12.01.2022 Due to the recent increase in COVID-19 infections, especially in and around the Moreland area, the Northern Saints Junior Committee and its coaches have decided to cancel Junior Training for this week, and reassess this Friday. We will also wait until the EDFL make its decision on season 2020, which is due to be released this Thursday. We do apologise for the inconvenience, however it is out of our control. We feel it is best to wait till there is more clarity, firstly, on the governments reaction to the recent spike, and also till we know this season will go ahead. We thank you all again for your patience, and hope to have more information as soon as it comes to hand.

12.01.2022 Some tips for when training does return. Its important we all play our part to stop the spread, so we can get back to doing what we love as quickly as possible.

11.01.2022 Thanks to the vandals who have destroyed public property again. Recently we were lucky to have @morelandcouncil renovate the toilet block in between both grounds at Mutton Reserve. This is now the second time vandals have destroyed the entrance door, this time breaking the tap as well. We wont all get to enjoy Council facilities, if people like this continually disrespect it and ruin it for the rest of us. If anyone knows or saw anything, please contact Crime Stoppers or the Fawkner Police.

11.01.2022 Dont forget Victorians, as of midnight tonight, you must wear a mask in public. Great to see our Mascots, who finally have names donning their masks and doing their bit, welcome our ladies mascot, Charlies Angel, for being such a fearless competitor and also in honour of our home ground, and our Mens mascot, please meet Big Show, in honour of the late Mohammed Allouche, also a fearless and inspirational captain who passed away leading his team graciously. Lets all do our bit and get through this together. Go Saints. #mascots #charliesangels #bigshow

11.01.2022 The Northern Saints Community would like to extend its deepest condolences to the Kosmak family, Tiziana, Thomas and Samuel, who lost their father and nonno Antonio. R.I.P Antonio.

10.01.2022 Gone but not forgotten. Mo Big Show Allouche. A beautiful young man taken way too soon. Allah Yerhamou

10.01.2022 As most people will be well aware, EDFL made a decision yesterday to cancel senior football only for 2020, and are still pushing ahead with a junior competition, including Under 18.5s. There are several opinions as to what the club, the committee and its members should do from here, and as one can imagine, there are many differing opinions. The state government recently also named Fawkner as one of the worst infected suburbs, which has thrown further caution, doubt and confu...sion in to an already complicated situation. The club is still in the midst of making a final decision on whether or not to proceed with season 2020 or not, however, being a Community Club, we feel it is best to hear from our members first, before we commit one way or another. Obviously, safety is number 1, there are no obligations by anyone, but we need to know if we have the numbers to move forward. We are asking all players/guardians to Sms your team coach, with the player name and either a yes or no. Yes would mean you agree that you are willing to accept the risks of playing and are happy for the player to participate in a season, or no- obviously meaning you do not accept the risk and will not participate. As a minimum, it would be good to gauge if all teams will have a full compliment of players available and willing to play, before the club decides to proceed. Unless the player is over 18, we do require the consent from a parent or guardian. We need to know your final decision whether you or your child would like to participate in a reduced football season this year, by Close of Business, this coming Monday the 29th of June. Coach names and numbers are listed below for those who do not have them; Under 8s- Russell 0400 512 587 Under 10s- Dean 0430 554 199 Under 12s- Rehab 0410 426 500 Under 14s- Youssef 0433 779 399 Under 16 Girls- Vic 0423 942 340 Under 16 Boys- Brendan 0430 187 767 Under 18.5- Glynn 0429 512 445 We do again thank you for your patience and need your responses to help us make the best decision to cater to our members. 07.01.2022 A fantastic opportunity exists for 7 lucky EDFL footballers. To be in the running, follow the instructions below. Good luck to all participants.

07.01.2022 It’s been great news for Victorians in recent days, and great news for the Northern Saints as well as two key players recommit for 2021. Both bring experience, versatility and leadership to a new look squad, and both bring good attitudes and a willingness to work for the team. Firstly Aaron D’Cruz who enjoyed his opportunities in 2019 and was building nicely till Covid had other ideas. And Mark found his voice early in his first preseason at the Saints, providing a strong pre...sence down back, and a great option as a hit up ruckman also. Both can’t wait to get back down to Fawkner’s favourite venue, Charles Mutton Reserve once allowed. More huge announcements to come soon. Go the Saints See more

07.01.2022 With football not being played here in Melbourne, it didnt stop our Canberra counterparts Ainslie Football Club honouring Past Fawkner Amateurs Legend John Teasdale last weekend. Johns son Matthew has been a constant for Ainslie being a big part of their recent success. Its great to see Matthew carry on the Teasdale football legacy, albeit for another club. John, or Boofa as he was commonly known, passed away earlier this year. The family and the Northern Saints still hope to give him a fitting tribute at his spiritual home, Charles Mutton Reserve once things return to normal.

05.01.2022 For this weeks Friday Flashback, we go back to that fantastic day in Northern Saints history, 9th of September 2013, and when the then time King of Charles Mutton Reserve, was up collecting his Premiership Medallion, there was a future King waiting in his wings. A young Nick Bruno was dreaming of one day, collecting a Premiership Medallion of his own. Could 2021, be his year? We sure hope so. Stay tuned for some key announcements in the coming weeks.... Go the Saints See more

05.01.2022 Not only has Aaron Dcruz been a great acquisition for our club on the field, but he has proven just as valuable off the field with his willingness to immerse himself and help build some great club culture. In his latest exploits, and in keeping with the social distancing restrictions placed upon us, Aaron is taking to an online fitness program. Its a weird time and a different world we all find ourselves living in at the moment. But with all of whats going on some of the s...enior boys down here at Northern Saints are choosing to turn this time of hardship and unknown into a positive, by embracing their desires to lead a healthy active lifestyle and smash out some of their fitness goals in the process. The boys will be participating in a 6 week body transformation challenge and are aiming to transform their bodies over this period to build the early foundation for what they hope will be a massive 2021 season. And theyre hoping more of the Northern Saints Community will jump on board with them! Details for the challenge are listed below: - FREE ENTRY - A share in $50,000 worth of prizes - Weight loss - Muscle gain - Reduce body fat % The challenge caters for all goals in its aim to promote and encourage living a healthy active lifestyle. Entry into the challenge will close as of the 4th of July with the challenge to run up until the 11th of August. The boys would love to have more of the Northern Saints Community jump on board with them and work together towards achieving theirs and your respective goals in the following 6 weeks. We all know its a tough time for a lot right now during this pandemic, but we dont have to let it hold us back from bettering ourselves. Were all in this together. If youre interested in hearing more about the challenge please reach out to Aaron Dcruz, simply send him a message through Facebook messenger with any questions or enquiries you may have and he will happily help you out! Go Aaron and Go the Saints.
