09.01.2022 Four Winds The Novellas are a band drawn together by singer-songwriter Myoung Jae Yi, a Korean ex-punk, bookshop owner and avid reader. Myoung’s songs for The Novellas are spun from his mind post-reading sessions, where the characters and stories are grist for his mill. On Friday 20th November Myoung and The Novellas will present ‘Han’t-A’ - The Book Crusher’ in the #Windsong Pavilion - a story about a Czech man charged with destroying books and living under an oppressi...ve regime Hant’a the character, played by actor Patrick Dickson, emerges from the text to present us with his dilemmas: are his thoughts his own or those left behind by all the books he’s consumed? His confusion and longing is set against Myoung’s smooth, stylish songs and playing by Myoung (guitar, vocals), Andrew Gray (piano and vocals), Josh Becker (double bass), Georgina Hargraves (saxophone, oboe, flute, clarinet), Joseph Fragnito (drums, vibes and percussion). Whilst we revel in the flavours and traditions of popular music, our take on them offers an alternative perspective, at once refreshingly new yet somehow familiar.
