25.01.2022 High Tea going out to a lovely trio of ladies, who have brought Grandma to The Old Convent for lunch. Hope you enjoy it, ladies .

24.01.2022 Beautiful weather on Sunday and Monday saw Howard and Ann in the garden. As a result we have cleared out an overgrown bed of bearded iris. The surplus tubers are available for anyone who would like some to come and get them. They are mostly deep purple, but there is a chance of some other colours. If you would like some, just pop around to The Old Convent this week and collect them.

24.01.2022 It's very much a part of our culture to enthusiastically celebrate and welcome in a New Year, however not so for 2020. The Old Convent opened on New Year's Day and whilst we worked we remained tuned to ABC for news of areas we knew to be seriously affected by fire. With family and friends in both NSW and Victoria, affected by these dreadful fires, we have been anxiously waiting and watching for any news. I have lived and worked in the communities of Tumbarumba, Tumut and Ba...tlow and feel a sense of loss at the devastation in this area. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the wonderful men and women who volunteer in our fire services, both the RFS and thr CFA. We also acknowledge the generosity of their families who provide incredible and selfless support to these wonderful men and women. At The Old Convent we are able to offer some accommodation support to people displaced in this dreadful disaster. If you know of someone who might need this, please let us know. May we soon be blest with rainfull sufficient to quell these fires, providing relief to firefighters, support volunteers and communities who are so stoically standing in support of each other, whether affected by the current fires or the ongoing drought.

22.01.2022 The Old Convent is not your usual venue. At this time of social isolation we are not doing take aways - to enjoy quality tea requires you to immerse yourself in the experience, fine china, silver tea pot and an historical building all add to that experience. Despite this life at The Old Convent hasn't ground to a halt. The carport, three years in the planning is almost complete; our 5 yr old little person (aka granddaughter) presented Howard with a blueprint if the nesting bo...x she would like built; and with the closure of hairdressers, Howard is sporting a man-bun. Shame he didn't match the colours better. Each day of social isolation we are grateful for the blessings we have, and think of those who are struggling at this time. None of us know what the future holds, but we are optimistically looking forward to hosting you again when restrictions are lifted. Keep smiling, stay safe and may we meet again soon. See more

13.01.2022 Tomorrow is International Women's Day. Howard and I are proud to be co-hosting a luncheon with Miss Heather, Fat Bob and The Blonde at The Old Convent. We choose to celebrate International Women's Day to acknowledge the many great women who have influenced our lives. I reflect on the great influence of my mother, her sisters and her one sister-in-law. My poor old Dad didn't have any sisters so they don't get a mention. But I also choose to reflect on many other women. I think... back to the wonderful women, who were the first to have an influence me outside of my family home - my teachers at school. I have been fortunate to have had many great women who have mentored me in my professional life; many great women who have been my friends, who have shared coffee and tears until the supply of each ran dry, as well as laughter and good times. I think of my mother-in-law, with whom I was fortunate enough to share afternoon tea with on the occasion of her 97th birthday, just last week! These are not women who's praises have been sung in international media, but each of them have contributed in their own small way to making me who I am today. Of course, let's not forget those great young women in our lives, daughters, daughters-in-law, nieces and others. We know as we pass the baton over to you that the tradition of strong, courageous women is in great hands. We don't need to look to high places to find great women, they walk among us each day. Look to them and celebrate them for the enrichment they bring to our lives. Lunch at The Old Convent is not a ladies only event. Please bring along your partners, your sons or your fathers and encourage them to reflect on the women in their lives. International Women's Day Lunch 11:00am to 2:00pm Cost $25:00 Phone: 0412 177 230 to book.
