25.01.2022 Run out of things to do? How about reorganising your plastic bag collection? Cos we know we all have one of those!

23.01.2022 Last day of the Christmas tree festival today at the Uniting Church 3pm-8pm. There are some fabulous trees there, be sure to have a look if you haven't already

23.01.2022 What a beautiful date... 02-02-2020... The Old Nab is open as of today, 11am-3pm Wednesdays through to Sundays. These are tentative hours and are subject to change. I've still got more displays to put up, but there's a reasonable amount here already. Come in for a chat and perhaps you (or I) will learn something new about this gorgeous little town of ours. I will definitely be looking for feedback, both positive and negative, throughout this trial period and will aim to do an official opening hopefully within the month. Many thanks go to the invaluable information I've received from key people such as the beautiful Sally Elliot, without whom most of this would not have been possible.

21.01.2022 Have a safe and happy Easter, everyone!

20.01.2022 With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children, England mourns for her dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free.... Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres, There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears. They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted; They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. They mingle not with their laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time, They sleep beyond England's foam. But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night; As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain; As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain. - Laurence Binyon, "For The Fallen"

17.01.2022 Who else watched the Eta Aquariid this morning? It sure was chilly on the front steps of the Old Nab but a hot chocolate and a hot coffee along with some cuddles made it cozier

12.01.2022 At least with this lock down I'm getting the opportunity to get a few long overdue projects completed. Here is the hearth in the kitchen which is one of only two spots inside the residence that did not get painted before we moved in. It has been painted in Colourbond Monument to match the living room fireplace.

10.01.2022 Stay safe everyone and remember - if it's flooded forget it!!

09.01.2022 Since the Old Nab is a service primarily aimed at travellers and the current advice is requesting everyone refrain from unessential travel I have made the decision to close temporarily. This will hopefully also allow a little extra time to complete the last of the displays and maybe even some other renovation work. Let's all hope the madness ends soon, and please everyone take care of yourselves as well as others.

09.01.2022 Have a safe one, everyone!

02.01.2022 Trying my hand at restoring one of the old rim locks. So far so good
