23.01.2022 NSW has reported one new case of locally transmitted COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Three cases were reported in overseas travellers in hotel qua...rantine, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 4,197. There were 7,447 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with 12,465 in the previous 24 hours. While it is not unusual for weekend testing numbers to be lower, if we are to ensure NSW continues to detect cases as soon as possible and prevent onward transmission, it is vital that members of the community continue to come forward for testing. NSW Health continues to appeal to the community to be tested right away if anyone has even the mildest of symptoms like a runny nose or scratchy throat, cough, fever or other symptoms that could signal COVID-19. Of the four new cases to 8pm last night: Three were acquired overseas and are now in hotel quarantine. One was locally acquired and linked to a known case The one new locally acquired case is a household contact of a previously reported case linked to the Oran Park community cluster. They have been in isolation. There are now 23 cases linked to this cluster. NSW Health is treating 80 COVID-19 cases, with no patients in intensive care. Ninety per cent of cases being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care. To help stop the spread of COVID-19: - If you are unwell, get tested and isolate right away don’t delay. - Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out. - Keep your distance. Leave 1.5 metres between yourself and others. - Wear a mask when using public transport, rideshares and taxis, and in shops, places of worship and other places where you can’t physically distance. When taking taxis or rideshares, commuters should also sit in the back. There are more than 300 COVID-19 testing locations across NSW. To find your nearest clinic visit https://www.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-an/clinics or contact your GP.

20.01.2022 New South Wales has recorded nine new cases of coronavirus overnight, bringing the states total to 3,662. Three of the cases remain under investigation with no... known source. More: 7news.link/30AGXmm NSW Health Statement: Nine new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the 24 hours to 8.00pm last night. One previous case was excluded after further testing, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,662. Confirmed cases (incl. interstate residents in NSW health care facilities): 3,662 Deaths (in NSW from confirmed cases): 52 Total tests carried out: 1,642,220 There were 24,421 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 27,937 in the previous 24 hours. Of the nine new cases reported to 8.00pm last night: 1. two are returned international travellers 2. four were locally acquired, all close contacts of known cases 3. three are under investigation with no known source. Two of these are close contacts of each other. One of todays cases is a student of Tangara School for Girls in Cherrybrook. The school has been closed for cleaning and contact tracing is continuing. The source of infection is under investigation. For a list of locations associated with known cases and advice on testing and isolation, see: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. Of the known clusters: 1. 111 cases are linked to Thai Rock Wetherill Park 2. 55 cases linked to the funeral events in Bankstown and surrounding suburbs, including 15 associated with Mounties in Mount Pritchard. 3. 34 cases linked to Potts Point, including 28 cases linked to the Apollo Restaurant and six cases linked with the Thai Rock Restaurant Potts Point (two cases attended both). While most cases in the past week have been associated with local clusters and close contacts with known cases, nine have not been linked to known cases, indicating that COVID-19 is circulating in the community. Its extremely important we all play our part in prevention all the time. COVID-19 can be a serious disease. There are currently 107 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. There are nine COVID 19 patients in intensive care and six are ventilated. Eighty-six per cent of cases are being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care. To help stop the spread of COVID-19: 1. If you are unwell, stay in, get tested and isolate. 2. Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out. 3. Keep your distance. Leave 1.5 metres between yourself and others. 4. Wear a mask in situations where you cannot physically distance. A full list of COVID-19 testing clinics is available at the following link, or people can visit their GP: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectio//Pages/clinics.aspx. Isolation is mandatory for anyone identified as a close contact (not a casual contact) of a case. Anyone directed to undertake a 14-day self-isolation period must stay in isolation for the full time, even if they test negative. Early testing may not detect an infection, and release from self-isolation based on a negative test could allow an infectious person to infect others in the community. Most people who are infected and develop symptoms will do so within 14 days of exposure. #Coronavirus #7NEWS

16.01.2022 Visa Changes to Support International Students On 20 July the Australian Government announced a number of changes to student visa arrangements to support international students. This is especially applicable for students who have not finished their work placements and would need a new visa to complete them The changes include:... The Government will recommence granting student visas in all locations lodged outside Australia. This means when borders re-open, students will already have visas and be able to make arrangements to travel. International students will be able to lodge a further student visa application free of charge, if they are unable to complete their studies within their original visa validity due to COVID-19. Student visa holders studying online outside Australia due to COVID-19 will be able to use that study to count towards the Australian study requirement for a post-study work visa. Graduates who held a student visa will be eligible to apply for a post-study work visa outside Australia if they are unable to return due to COVID-19. Additional time will be given for applicants to provide English language results where COVID-19 has disrupted access to these services. More details on the visa changes can be found on the Departments website: https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/student-visa or send us an email so we can further assist you.
