25.01.2022 20 December 2019 | 1 YEAR AGO its been one year since the Cudlee Creek bushfire affected so many families within the Hills Football League community. As we reflect back on our firefighting hero's our thoughts still go out the families who are still recovering. To help with the recovery, 9 months ago the Onka Valley FC & Lobethal FC joined forces and participated in a charity cricket game to raise funds for the Bushfire appeal.

24.01.2022 JUNIOR COMMITTEE ANNOUNCMENT The Junior AGM was held last Thursday at 7pm. Thanks to those who attended and put their hands up to continue or commence their time on the committee! Your 2021 Committee members:... Nathan May - re-elected Junior President Caroline Jones - re-elected Junior Treasurer Sally Fox Amanda Molier Stuart Hanson Andrew Grivell Bruce Kain Sam Keogh Ashley Smith Janna Heading Amy Goldner There are many roles this current committee fills, however, we still have two executive roles remaining open. These roles must be filled if we are to have a 2021 Junior footy season. We are looking for: Vice-President Secretary We are also looking at forming a BBQ shed subcommittee to assist in the running of the BBQ shed including ordering, rostering, etc. Without the tireless help of volunteers we couldn’t run a Junior program. If you believe you could fill either of these roles or would be interested in joining the BBQ shed subcommittee, please contact Nathan May on 0403 573 105.

Our involvement with this great program is designed to give our club the best family-friendly environment. One that sets great examples for our members young and old. ... The Good Sports program is Australia’s largest and longest-running health initiative for community sports. It guides clubs through a process that keeps the focus on the best environment for sport and for communities. We now have comprehensive policies focusing on smoking management, safe transport and alcohol management. We want our club to maintain its status as a welcoming place for locals, supporters and visiting clubs. 21.01.2022 OVFC CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT | Andrew Adcock stepping down as President OVFC President Andrew Adcock advised the club he would step down at the end of the season and not seek re-election. Since taking over as President in 2015 he has been instrumental in guiding the Bulldogs towards success and oversaw many projects that have improved the facilities at Balhannah Oval. Over the last few years the club installed new oval lights, new veranda with picket fence, new electronic scorebo...ard, new BBQ shed, new catch net, played in an A Grade Grand Final (first since 2003) and enjoyed Premiership success in our junior grades After more than six years as President of this great club, it feels like the perfect time for a new President to take the Onka Valley Football Club forward and beyond 2021, Adcock said Addy has been involved with the Onka Valley Football Club since the late 70's as a player, committee member, life member and finally the President. He can now enjoy his time as a supporter The OVFC would like to thank Addy for his dedication and commitment during his time as President The AGM is scheduled for Thursday 12 November and the OVFC is now seeking a new President. #ThankYou

10.01.2022 VALE BOB SCHMIDT The Onka Valley Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of Life Member Bob Schmidt. Bob coached the Bulldogs for 4 years between 1972-1975, won the Best & Fairest 4 times (72, 73, 75 & 77) along with 2 HFL Mail Medals (73 & 75). ... He is a Life Member and one of the very best players to ever wear the red, white and blue. In 1976 Bob played alongside Phil Howlett, Rod Fenwick, new coach Mick Weatherald and in 2017 the players reunited for the first time at the OVFC 50 Year Celebration. Prior to Onka Valley Bob was part of the bottom to top 1964 South Adelaide turnaround side, his coach Neil Kerley called him 'the best half back I have seen in the league's the most efficient player, with no weakness in his game.' South Adelaide 9.5 (69) defeated Port Adelaide 5.12 (42) in front of 56000 people at Adelaide Oval to with the 1964 SANFL Premiership The Onka Valley Football Club would like to express its sincere condolences to Bob’s family and friends during this time #LegendBobSchmidt#6

08.01.2022 VALE LUKE HAUSLER 12/04/96 10/01/21 It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Luke Hausler. Luke was a former player, and friend of many around the club. Sadly, Luke lost his fight against depression on Sunday. Luke started his hills footy at the Nairne Football Club, before coming to the Bulldogs in 2011 with his older brother Zak. Luke was a part of the 2012 Senior Colts premiership team, and went on to play senior football with us until the end of 2017. ... Luke quickly settled into the club, along with his family, and became a good friend to many. As someone said to me today, Luke was always up for a chat, even if he didn’t feel like it, and he would always manage a smile and a laugh. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. For me personally, the things I liked about Luke was his friendly and gentle nature, while still being able to be a likeable larrikin who would always stick up for his mates. On behalf of the football club community, I have sent our condolences to Luke’s family, Kingsley, Deb, Zak, and Luke’s partner Zoe & their daughter Lahia, and I’ve offered the support of the football club however possible. John Zantvoort (a friend and colleague of Luke, and HFL board member) has set up a Go Fund Me page to raise money to provide financial support for Zoe and Lahia.
