24.01.2022 The Orangerie at Maison de Chateaubriand, Châtenay-Malabry, France. It has been carefully restored, and was built in the 17th century for the writer and politician François-René Vicomte de Chateaubriand (and the namesake for Chateaubriand steak). The Vicomte de Chateaubriand was passionate about plants and travel. The estate is open to the public and you can enjoy a cup of tea in the orangerie (which is now a tea room) - although currently closed for obvious reasons. : @etsionsepromenait #theorangerie #theorangerienoosa

22.01.2022 The Orangery at Knole Park, UK. The original structure was built between 1603-08, and later converted into an orangery in 1823. At this time the arched windows were installed (with Gothic style tracer/windows ) - and they allow light to flood in - and aid the large plants to be brought indoors to protect them from the cold during the inter months. The orangery was later abandoned in the 20th century and became a store room. When the UK Na...tional Trust took over in 2010, the room was cleared and the walls cleaned but not repainted. The blue you can see on the walls was originally a deep ultra-marine blue and the ceiling was a deep sienna-stone. Both have since faded but the grandeur of the room remains.
