18.01.2022 The old school at Beltana. In 1878, the timber and iron clad school at Sliding Rock (Cadnia) was relocated to Beltana. It became the teacher's residence in ...1893 when the present stone building was constructed. Over the years pupil numbers fluctuated between a handful and 52. Lean-to iron additions were added to provide extra room, and removed in the 1980s due to white ant damage. The school was closed in 1967 and children were then bussed to Leigh Creek for their education. Today the school is used for visitor accommodation. See more

15.01.2022 Thank you Linda, from Go RV for sharing your Outback Loop adventure with us. Every off-road RV-er in Australia must, at some point, treat themselves to three of the great iconic, historic adventures of the outback: the Strzelecki Track, the Birdsville Track and the Oodnadatta Track. While each track can be done on its own, combining the three into a superb, never-to-be-forgotten desert holiday, makes a lot of sense. Once you come this far, you might as well connect them into... a glorious zigzag through the Strzelecki Desert, the Simpson Desert, the Sturt Stony Desert, the Tirari Desert and the Painted Desert. https://www.gorv.com.au/outback-loop

09.01.2022 Most people love this photo, but Akubra owners are just worried about how long the brim was stuck like that A tip for new owners of Akubra Hats Don't just chuck it in the back when you're on a road trip. Find a good spot in the car to rest your hat upside down. Thank us later because it's a rough lesson to learn the hard way ... Ready to plan your outback road trip? 06.01.2022 Gotta love the quirky historic buildings that pop up in remote Australia. They hold so much character and there is no doubt that if these old walls could talk, they would have some ripper stories from over the years. What's your favourite building that you've discovered on your Outback adventures? 03.01.2022 The Dig Tree, Face Tree and Brae's Tree are all extremely important in the history of the Outback. A lot of work has gone into preserving these trees with boar...dwalks as well as resin moulds on interpretive signage so you can feel what the carving felt like. The road is open so head on out. You'll get to meet Norm the Ranger who will make you feel welcome. Firewood is not available so please take your own.
