24.01.2022 We are so grateful for the generosity of many first-time Outdoor Education Foundation donors. Because of you all, we have already raised $4,300 of our $8,000 goal in our first-ever campaign! We've made it through the half-way mark and are now closing in on our target but need the support of our community to get to the finish line. If you haven't already, consider making a tax-deductible donation to enable 40 young women who were disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 lockdown to participate in a new 2021 program where they will reconnect with outdoor spaces, themselves and each other. https://hubs.ly/H0D2S3M0

24.01.2022 Our outdoor experiences allow for learning that flows seamlessly between indoors and outdoors, making the most efficient use of resources.

23.01.2022 2020 has been a year, unlike any other; it has separated many young people from the natural world and their community. In Melbourne, the lockdowns have meant more screens and less time in the open air. Amongst those without social and economic advantages, it has been a difficult period of increased isolation. The Outdoor Education Foundation (OEF) and its creative team is meeting this serious challenge with Find your Feet, an outdoor program designed for those Melbourne stude...nts who were particularly impacted by lockdown and typically miss out on outdoor education experiences. Find your Feet is an exciting 3-day, camp-based program of cycling, canoeing, climbing and hiking, providing participants with the opportunity to share in an adventure together and connect around the campfire. The OEF team is busy partnering with other organisations and creating a fundraising platform to ensure Find your Feet continues to support young people well into 2021. We are close to making some exciting announcements!

22.01.2022 Join Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria's Aboriginal Learning Facilitators for a virtual tour through the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens to explore and learn about common bushfood plants that you can grow in your own backyard! The event will be streamed on NAIDOC's Facebook page and YouTube channel. Tune in tomorrow at 11:00! https://hubs.ly/H0zkTMF0

22.01.2022 With students across Greater Melbourne now able to return to camps and outdoor activities across Victoria, we are running programs in WA, SA, NSW, ACT and VIC. It has been a long time since we have been able to say that! And it feels great! There is now a generation of young people who need outdoor education more than ever before. With lockdowns, increased screen time and a lack of access to nature we're thrilled to welcome groups back to provide memorable outdoor experiences for the remainder of 2020 and into the new year. https://hubs.ly/H0zS4TM0

21.01.2022 Turning isolation and discrimination into social connection and fellowship, The Outdoor Education Foundation is the benevolent arm of The Outdoor Education Group. OEG provides the infrastructure to run OEF programs for young people experiencing place-based disadvantage, economic inequality, or those with refugee or other cultural status. OEF seeks to support the development of transferable interpersonal skills in these young people, to set them up for success in both educatio...nal and career pathways. Founded in 2018, OEF has strong community partnerships with leading community organisations including AMES Australia, Western Chances, Les Twentyman Foundation, Victoria University, Melbourne Australia and Melbourne Indigenous Transition School amongst many others. Passionate OEG staff support OEF programs to bring together young people from diverse backgrounds in an immersive and enriching outdoor education experience. https://hubs.ly/H0zq9CC0

16.01.2022 Happy holidays and Merry Christmas from The Outdoor Education Group. Today we're collecting moments, not things.

13.01.2022 This year's National NAIDOC Week theme invites us all to explore and recognise Australia's First Nations people's understanding of the natural world - their custodianship of the land, the waters and skies. Always Was, Always Will Be. As an Australian organisation, we hope to offer opportunities which allow the transfer of oral history and skills, as well as an understanding of the impact of modern intervention on a traditional way of life. We wish to celebrate with all Austr...alians, the oldest enduring cultures on the planet and the continued significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contributions in shaping a shared sense of national unity and identity which is more than important than ever. #NAIDOCWeek2020 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe https://hubs.ly/H0zk6C40

12.01.2022 Students must be engaged with learning to absorb lessons in any meaningful way. Findings from this study show that learning outdoors is not just a fun experience for young learners, but also helps them focus once they return to the classroom. https://hubs.ly/H0zkx6L0

11.01.2022 Although 2020 presented us all with challenges, it has also served to remind us of the healing power the natural world offers us all and the role we play in providing young Australians with access to it. Now, more than ever, outdoor education is highly relevant and at The Outdoor Education Group, we remain inspired and motivated by our mission.

10.01.2022 Our team are at their best when they can do what they are most passionate about - share the wonders of the outdoors with students. And we can’t wait to continue providing meaningful and memorable experiences for your students in 2021.

09.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. We acknowledge Australia's First Nations people's ancient and enduring connectedness to land, their resilience and wisdom, and their future. National NAIDOC Week is celebrated by local community events taking place across Australia for the rest of the month. 08.01.2022 The Outdoor Education Foundation provides immersive and enriching programs for young people experiencing place-based disadvantage, economic inequality or with a refugee or other cultural status. Our Mountains, Our Journey provides an opportunity for young women from rural Victoria to develop teamwork, respect, courage, active participation, goal setting, self-esteem, and leadership. This experience flows back into the community through the Alice Sloan Trusts' Leadership Deve...lopment Program. AMES Camp offers a weekend at OEG Camp Jungai for young refugees and migrants from diverse backgrounds to share their culture and realise its connections with other cultures; developing bonds of friendship with their peers. Young Men Old Mountains offers opportunity for young men from rural backgrounds to examine their journey towards manhood by exploring positive risk-taking and developing an understanding of the self and their individual abilities and talents. https://hubs.ly/H0zHbsZ0

07.01.2022 When classes are taken outdoors, teachers report significant impacts positive behavioural changes, students are excited to learn, and individuals who feel inhibited by the curriculum often thrive in an outdoor environment.

05.01.2022 A massive thank you to Arc'teryx for their generosity and recent gift to the Outdoor Education Foundation. Arc’teryx is a high-performance outdoor equipment company known for leading innovations in climbing, skiing and alpine technologies. Their new store in Chadstone, Melbourne opened on Monday, and they donated 10% of profits from their first two days! You too can make a contribution these holidays and support young people experiencing social and economic disadvantage. https://hubs.ly/H0CL-xn0

02.01.2022 Happy New Year! We thank you all for your continued support during a challenging year. The resilience of our team and our community never ceases to inspire us. Our shared future is bright, and we have so much to explore together! Bring on 2021!
