25.01.2022 We are so very happy to welcome Dr Jane Son, a Consultant Paediatrician, who will be joining The Paediatric Specialists on Saturday, 24th September. Dr. Jane Son is a very experienced, warm and caring Paediatrician, who is dedicated to partnering with families to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of children of all ages. She is fluent in Korean. She has over 12 years of experience through metropolitan and regional hospitals in General Paediatrics, and also has ext...ensive experience in Developmental and Community Paediatrics, with experience in diagnosing and managing neurodevelopmental issues such as developmental delay and autism spectrum disorders. 21.01.2022 The Paediatric Specialists are excited to have Dr. Mimi Lu join our practice in June 2020. Dr. Mimi Lu is a Paediatric Sleep and Respiratory Physician who received her MBBS through the University of NSW. She has also completed her Sleep and Respiratory Fellowship at The Children’s Hospital Westmead and General Paediatric Fellowship at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. Dr. Lu currently works as a Paediatric Sleep and Respiratory Physician at The Children’s Hospital Westmea...d and has also worked at The Queensland Children’s Hospital. Dr. Lu’s interest include managing children with sleep problems ranging from snoring, obstructive sleep apnoea, restless sleep, excessive daytime tiredness, and parasomnias. Dr. Lu also manages paediatric respiratory conditions such as asthma, childhood wheezing, chronic cough, and congenital/genetic respiratory conditions. She has also published in topics of Paediatric Sleep and Respiratory Medicine in peer reviewed journals. In addition to clinical work, Dr. Lu enjoys teaching and mentoring junior medical officers and medical students. Dr. Rowena McMullan is a passionate and dedicated consultant neonatal paediatrician who has provided advice and guidance to thousands of families through the challenging early months of parenting. Her specialist training in the care of babies provides evidence-based excellence in family-centred care. Dr. McMullan’s areas of expertise include: ... - Health, growth and developmental follow up, including babies at higher risk of problems (e.g. pre-term, small or with medical problems) - Routine checks for well babies - Helping families through the challenge of feeding, sleep and settling difficulties - Assessment of infants with acute medical problems - Consultations during pregnancy Dr. McMullan is also a staff specialist neonatologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney. She has more than 18 years of paediatric experience, with 12 years just caring for new babies. In that time she has acquired extensive experience in caring for infants, from critically unwell babies in emergency and intensive care settings, to running long-term health and developmental clinics. Her own 2 children have also provided much useful experience! Dr. McMullan accepts new patient referrals for children less than 1 year old. When not working with The Paediatric Specialists team, Dr. McMullan is completing her PhD at the University of Sydney looking at markers of long term cardiovascular health in babies born small or preterm. Dr Darren Shepherd is one of our friendly Consultant Paediatricians who has over 12 years’ experience working in public, private, rural and remote settings. Dr Shepherd completed his training at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network in 2013 and has also completed a Masters of Public Health via UNSW.... Dr Shepherd is approachable, relatable and is interested in caring for children aged between 0 to 18 years old who might have simple to complex medical concerns or issues. Kerry Schweigert has worked as a psychologist for over 35 years and has extensive experience with children with developmental delays and disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental disability and related conditions. Kerry worked at Tumbatin Clinic, the diagnostic assessment service for Sydney Children’s Hospital, for many years. She cont...ributed to and worked to develop a number of specialist clinics including an Adolescent Review Service and a Specialist Sleep Clinic. Kerry also developed and ran an annual program for parents of children who had been newly diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Kerry has also worked part time in private practice for over 15 years, seeing children and adults with a range of psychological and mental health issues. Through her work with both children and families in the public and private sector she has gained a deeper understanding of the intrinsic connection between the mind, body and emotions. Consequently, Kerry brings a pragmatic and open-minded approach to her work with children and their families. Dr. Fentoullis is a very experienced and caring Paediatrician, who is dedicated to helping children and young people of all ages. Her particular interests include newborn and infant health (including navigating the challenges of feeding, sleep and settling), supporting healthy growth and nutrition (i...ncluding children above a healthy weight), developmental delay, and allergy. Dr. Fentoullis graduated with first class honours from the University of New South Wales and completed her paediatric training through the Sydney Children’s Hospital. She has a Master of Medical Education through the University of Sydney, has been a Conjoint Associate Lecturer with the University of New South Wales since 2009 and is a Teaching Fellow for the University of Newcastle.
