25.01.2022 Institutionalised violence and oppression Huge gap in health, education, socioeconomic status, life expectancy Deaths in custody Over represented in prison... We’re talking about America right?? Wait.... America often starts the conversation (again) But we all should hear it And act

20.01.2022 Make Every Week Pain Week!! Helping people living with pain to live better echoes through their family, community and generations. It can be hard, and can seem like too big a problem, but fuck it’s worth it.... If we all helped a little change, our kids might be able to ditch pain week. What does National Pain Week do for you? What do you need more of? Look out for Future Health Network

14.01.2022 When treatment doesn’t work, the stories people have been told matter more. The things we say follow people in pain through their lifespan. Own the uncertainty Be confident in our ability to help... Don’t pretend to know shit you don’t know!!!

13.01.2022 Authenticity And not being afraid to be you. Ultimately your success with your clients will hinge on your ability to connect with them.... That won’t happen 100% of the time, but it will happen way less if you’re pretending to be someone different , or not 100% happy to be yourself. The people that will think you’re an awesome therapist think that because they think you’re an awesome person who helped them So be yourself And if you say fuck every now and then, well fuck, maybe you’ll get a laugh and connect with another human The world won’t end, you won’t get struck down by lightning bolts. Because sometimes pain and injury is just fucked and there’s no other way to describe it. I’d take real and human over boring and beige every fucking day of the week, and so would the people that come to my clinic

10.01.2022 Part 1 of 2 Questions to ask yourself We’re really good at fitting people into the diagnostic boxes we’re given and being certain, but probably wrong ... It is harder to work with not knowing, but knowing you can help Ultimately - don’t pretend to know shit you don’t know

09.01.2022 Physio Jazz My name for what I do for a living. When we help people in pain, rehab should be fun, engaging, creative and meaningful... Like jazz Not boring, stupid, uninspiring and shit Like country music It’s not saying anything goes. There is a form, a framework And it needs to be good Jazz can be shit. But the rules around what you have to do and what works are full of shit. Make your patient/client Miles Davis, play your sax like Coltrane and make some fucking magic together Evolution

09.01.2022 For all the Victorians

08.01.2022 Part Watch Part 1 first, otherwise this will make less sense than these videos normally do

07.01.2022 Where to start when everything hurts, they are moving and working and nothing works for pain relief? This is tricky, especially when the person’s expectations and beliefs at this point have, more often than not, been shaped by negative experiences with health care. Communicate... Collaborate Plan Take the first steps See more

07.01.2022 DISconfirmation Your patient/client has a belief/behaviour they feel must occur to keep them safe/healthy ... You feel that needs to change for them to get their desired outcome Solution: that’s wrong, let me tell you to think Not likely to end well, right? But we still do it more than you think. So, how do we get people to think of alternate views of their reality? Discuss and explore examples of when their belief/behaviour DOESNT work, and get them to reflect on it and what that could mean. It’s a discussion and collaboration. Not a fucking lecture

07.01.2022 What did you think of this ad from the APA. . Dave Renfrew, Connor Gleadhill and myself will be discussing the fors and againsts and how we market EBP and health care... . Live starting between 940-10am today.

06.01.2022 Check this out y’all

06.01.2022 Who cares why it works, as long as it does makes one massive assumption - that it always works. Anyone who thinks that they always get things right has their head so far up their arse they aren’t seeing their own selection bias at work. The reasons why things work are most important when things DONT work, or haven’t worked for a long time.... I have an example of this coming in the next video. Be critical. Of yourself most of all

04.01.2022 Great Stuff for clinicians to focus on the crucial and most valuable parts of why we do - the L’s of Rehab - by @zerenpt Chris Johnson... (With some poetic license from yours truly) Listen - really listen Language - think about what is coming out of your mouth Load - one of the most important that is often done the worst Layout - plan, together, to get them where they want to go Loose - be flexible and adaptable, but that doesn’t mean random and shit Let - them decide. You can present the options, risks and benefits, but they’re driving the bus Look - back and reflect. The best way to learn. Look forward with optimism - humans are awesome Nail the basics, focus on the person in front of you, know your shit. Simple, not easy Thanks for the awesome content Chris
