25.01.2022 ROUND 3 SUMMARY FIRST XI DEFEATED ABBOTSFORD ANGLERS CC Report coming.... SECOND XI DEFEATED MONT ALBERT CC Round 3 (second game) and with the Macgibbon Shield boys assisting as part of a reunion plus another Panthers debutant in Rav, we were able to field an extremely strong Second XI. We lost the toss and were sent in to bat on a damp deck and wet outfield. Brad and Tony opened the innings and were steady for the first 10 overs (the boys deserved some boundaries if not for the wet field!). Tony was out caught by the only fielder capable of a catch and in came Datto. Together with Brad they upped the run rate until Datto had to retire after a whirlwhind 50. New boy Rav continued where Datto left off and finished with a well compiled 49 not out. We set Mont Albert a competitive 183 to win off 35 overs. We opened with Starkey and Joey and the boys put in a match winning spell of bowling to start the innings. Dot after Dot backed up by a great effort in the field. Nav came on second change and continued where the openers left off. Along with Datto, Tony and Brad keeping tight lines we were unlucky not to have a few more wickets as the boys consistently beat the outside edge. In the end, we came away with a 20 run win which was a fantastic result for the club in making it 2/2 for the day.

24.01.2022 ROUND 4 SUMMARY FIRST XI DEFEATED BY EAST DONCASTER CC Report on its way, but it wasnt pretty.... SECOND XI DEFEATED ST. PAULS CC The Twos received a forfeit on Friday afternoon from St Pauls. The win sees us in the four. TRAINING IS HAPPENING THIS THURSDAY REGARDLESS OF THE BYE OVER CUP WEEKEND. ALL PLAYERS ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN ATTENDANCE. JKL had great delight in pointing out to Knotty that he was bowled by A Duck.

20.01.2022 PANTHER TRAINING CHANGES Training has been organised to join with South Camberwell CC. It begins this Thursday 24 January from 6pm at Burke Road South Reserve, Sinclair Avenue, Glen Iris. The following week we will host training and it will rotate each week until the end of the season. See you Thursday afternoon.

19.01.2022 Due to the anticipated heat tomorrow (35 degrees at 6pm) South Camberwell cancelled training. We decided that we'll follow suit, therefore training has been cancelled and the clubrooms will not be open. We will be hosting South Camberwell CC next week (Thursday January 31) at Balwyn Park for training from 6pm.

18.01.2022 The ECA have requested that all players and umpires are to report to grounds for all turf, synthetic and LOC matches EXCEPT for matches already cancelled. We'll keep you posted if anything changes.

17.01.2022 St. Barnabas CC held their AGM on Wednesday just gone and voted on the resolution to join with us. They received a positive response, passing with 48-2! With our result, this means that North Balwyn Combined and St. Barnabas CCs will cease, but as of Season 2019-20, we will be taking the field as the Balwyn Saints. Gavin Collopy of StBCC said, "We think this is an enormously positive step for both clubs as we will shore up the near, medium and long term future of not only ...the seniors but the Balwyn Blasters as well. This was based on the social camaraderie in the past, the familiarity stemming from many years of playing against each other, and, importantly, the respect shown throughout the past 12 months as we have considered this outcome." The history of each club, along with Life Memberships etc will be preserved in the new club. There is a lot to do, but there will be further updates over the coming months. It is suffice to say that the Committees of both clubs will meet in the near term and the broad outlook will be for a social event/s and then an inaugural AGM. See more

16.01.2022 Brad Judge Accident New member Brad Judge was in a motorcycle accident this morning on his way to work. He was rushed to the Alfred hospital where he had surgery and has a broken pelvis. He is expected to be in hospital for 1 - 2 weeks, then the recovery and rehabilitation begins, minimum of 6 months. A car pulled out and hit him whilst travelling along Canterbury Road at about 50-60km/h. On behalf of the Panthers, I wish Judgey a speedy recovery and offer our full support. 10.01.2022 Good Evening Balwyn Sainters. As it buckets down as I write this post, I cast my mind to the days of yore. The days where the suns shines, the sound of Saints willow cracking opposition pies to the fence. Its warm - even hot. But you know that the dry mouth and cracked lips will be soothed at days end by the cool liquid gold of the drink of your choice at Balwyn Park.... Yes my mighty Sainters. Its pre-season time! To those keen to be part of the revolution, particularly the 1s and 2s aspirants, training commences: Sunday 4th of August at Myrtle Park at 9.00am. This will be fitness and fielding based. The next session will be Wednesday 7th August at Maddocks Sports at Unit 10/11 Mary Street Blackburn for indoor work at 6.00 - 7.00pm From there, its each Sunday at Myrtle Park at 9.00am and each Wednesday at Maddocks at 6.00pm. All are welcome including the juniors wanting to play seniors. Have a great weekend one and all. Okie.

08.01.2022 Congratulations to Will McKenzie, who only two weeks ago scored his maiden ton, backed it up yesterday with his second v Anglers at Balwyn Park in our big win. May just need to create a page for all of his highlights this season! So far 693 runs, including 2 centuries and 4 fifties. From memory (MyCricket), only Rowan Barling has scored more runs (815) in a season for the club. Can Wilbur, with 3 games to go break this record?
