04.01.2022 Here’s a recipe for the perfect crunchy biscuit to enjoy with a cuppa. Thank you to keen baker, our resident Cheryl from The Avenue Maroochydore for sharing one of her favourite recipes. Cheryl’s baked treats are always popular when the residents get together. Hope you enjoy Cheryl’s crunchy, nutty treat. Ingredients:... 170g self-raising flour 85g golden caster sugar 55g ground almonds 140g butter 1 tspn almond extract pinch salt 55g flaked almonds 1 egg white Method: 1. Preheat oven to 180C. Line or grease a baking tray. 2. Combine all the ingredients, except flaked almonds and egg white, in a food processor and blend until it forms a soft dough. 3. Turn dough onto floured surface and roll out to 1cm thickness. Using a fluted cutter, shape the biscuits. Arrange on the prepared baking tray. Brush biscuits with egg white and sprinkle with flaked almonds. 4. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Allow biscuits to cool before serving.
