18.01.2022 World Breastfeeding Week is coming to an end I didn’t even post about it yet, but better late than never, right? Here’s a snap of Penny and I at an ABA World Breastfeeding Week event. She’s 4 now and she still breastfeeds, but usually just at home, in bed, a few times a night.... This year’s theme was to empower parents and enable breastfeeding. It’s made me reflect on all of the things that have empowered me, so that I’m able to be proud of breastfeeding my 4yo. Happy World Breastfeeding Week. I hope yours was awesome.

17.01.2022 How do you make breastfeeding work? With support, of course! Allanah is studying Commercial Construction and did a 3 hour exam today. Her husband looked after their exclusively breastfed baby while Nono took care of their toddler. They wrapped it all up in time to get back home before their two boys got home from school. As Allanah says - if you need for help, ask for it! Your friends and family are probably dying to be more involved in you and your kids, so invite them to ma...ke a difference in your lives by leaning on them. Letting people help you is a sign of strength! Well done Allanah, keep up the amazing work!

07.01.2022 Does anyone else get emotional when they see breastfeeding on TV? I absolutely love Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia's new advertising campaign about "Everyday Moments". One of the TV ad's shares some everyday moments from the Hare family. At the very end, as the mother is watching her older children play together, she lifts her shirt in preparation for a breastfeed. Breastfeeding is not the primary message, and truth be told, I'm not even sure the makers realised ...how including it would make their message even more profound. There is a strong relationship between breastfeeding and health, but it's more than that. Breastfeeding is something that can simultaneously be very special AND "everyday". I think fits in beautifully with the overall message from RMHC, which I believe is that everyday moments are treasured more when your family is facing special and difficult circumstances, and should never be taken for granted. I applied for a job with RMHC when I was 6 months pregnant with my second baby. It was probably a blessing that I didn't get the job, because I have truly valued being home with my kids so much more than I ever would have appreciated the money I could have earned. But getting the interview provided me with an opportunity to learn about exactly what they do there, and see their facilities at John Hunter Hospital. Now I have a very soft spot for their charity work, because the work they do is so important. Thank you to RHMC and to the Hare family for showcasing such a special moment.
