25.01.2022 There are lots of clever references to the round shape of a coin too. This naturally led the designers to create a distinctly Art Deco aesthetic with all those wonderful, rounded edges being cleverly incorporated throughout. 'Sitting at the base of the Australian Tax Office in Box Hill, Melbourne, sits the Penny Drop Café designed by We Are Huntly - the same team behind the recently featured Balaclava House project. Working in collaboration with POP & PAC design studio, the concept behind the naming of the cafe plays on the idea of penny's dropping from the pockets of the ATO above. Here, the use of art deco features and textured surfaces by We are Huntly work to add a warmth and softness to what could be otherwise considered a sterile space given the nature of the buildings occupants.' 20.01.2022 Our wild mushroom san choi bau has been a hit with vegetarians but we think every carnivore should give it a crack too. We mix together wild mushrooms, peanuts and water chestnuts, tying it all together with a splash of soy ginger dressing. Bonus: theyre also vegetarian.

19.01.2022 The guys from the Delightfully Tasty blog visited The Penny Drop for breakfast recently. Thanks for coming looking forward to seeing you back again for lunch or dinner sometime! The interior of The Penny Drop is very modern and simple, with wooden aesthetics contrasting with the white walls and minimalistic design for a comfortable dining experience. Upbeat music plays in the background, and together with the chatter from all the customers makes for a lively atmosphere that isn't too noisy or overcrowded. The staff were friendly and attentive, asking how our dishes were and refilling our water.
