15.01.2022 We, too, are feeling completely heartbroken as we watch Australia burn. Proceeds from all sales this week will be donated to organisations working on the frontline, such as the Rural Fire Service, the Australian Red Cross and WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue. Of course, we encourage you to donate directly to your charity of choice as the top priority, but if you've been considering getting your hands on one of our beautiful ikat pieces for yourself or as a gift for awhile, no...w's the perfect time xx http://www.thepeoplesfabric.com.au/ Photo: AFP

04.01.2022 I've been finding it difficult to post anything again after the bushfires this month, as nothing has really felt significant or relevant enough to re-enter this space. So I thought I'd reign it back in & start the new year reconnecting with you & introducing myself to our new friends. Hi I'm Ali. And I started @thepeoplesfabric around four years ago. It's a teeny, tiny little social enterprise that has special connections with a partner weaving cooperative that aims to fin...ancially empower indigenous artisan women in West Kalimantan (Borneo). We do this with the support of a stellar not-for-profit conservation organisation Planet Indonesia. I admit that when it comes to this little enterprise, I'm not a marketing guru - social media can sometimes give me the heebie jeebies & I don't have the strong urge to put my face to the business, in hope that their beautiful handwoven ikat pieces will speak for themselves - as they truly are incredible works of art. But I do recognise how privileged I am to have learnt so much from our partners over the years & share their work with the world, so will keep peddling this little passion project when I can, outside of my full time job, so that together we can give a little back to these communities Your support of little businesses like The People's Fabric means so much & I really couldn't be doing this without you. So whether you've bought our ikat pieces or shared our work with a friend...thank you. I hope that 2020 has used up much of its darkness quota for the year & plenty of brighter days await you. I am a sponge for all of the goodness that people are longing to give & feel right now & I hope I can reciprocate that throughout the year. xx P.S. Thanks @vallison90 for the pic, taken at the @ludovico_einaudi gig in Melbourne last night...one of the most beautifully emotive pianists of our time #communitytocouch #livelifefair
