23.01.2022 Youve heard it here confirmed, Quinninup Falls along the Cape to Cape Track in The Margaret River Region is flowing! Find this gem near Wilyabrup as you follow... the 135km hike that stretches along the coastline from Cape Naturaliste to Cape Leeuwin. Here at Quinninup Falls, known as the place of the zamia palm, the Wadandi people used this special inland area to perform ceremony, and it is one of the many cultural sites that is significantly important to the Wadandi culture. #WanderOutYonder to discover the beauty for yourself - and with wildflower season upon us, its a beautiful time to be out hiking. Pick a section to hike for a day - or better yet - join a tour with a local guide to learn about the land as you go! Photo by Annabel Claire aka @_annabelclaire_ on Instagram.
23.01.2022 It may have been an out-of-the-ordinary swell that lit up Injidup Beach during this cyclone enhanced session, but as March approaches the surf world is watching... to see what anomalies the Indian Ocean throws up. With the best part of the surf season directly in front of us, photographers like Peter Jovic Photography are geared to spring in to action when word gets out "its pumping". Keep an eye on those charts folks, Autumn is here.

20.01.2022 Lace up your hiking boots, its time to hit the tracks! Meelup Beach, and the entire glistening, aquamarine coastline that runs between Dunsborough and Cape Na...turaliste is pure summer joy for beach lovers, but right now, while the water is warming up, this is the place to hike. Walking trails hug the coastline and youll pass a rainbow of wildflowers and wildlife in spring, including kangaroos on the trails and whales in the bay Grab a copy of the Cape to Cape Track guidebook or download the app, or hit up a local guide for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. South West Eco Discoveries and Koomal Dreaming offer guided tours with incredible local knowledge. And after all that walking, maybe you will be ready for a dip at Meelup - if its not too icy! @high__tide__ (via Instagram)
18.01.2022 Someone is happy its Friday! Absolutely loving these photos by Hans Versluis at Windmills, Cape Naturaliste. We want to see more incredible photos from our beautiful area. Remember to tag us or use the #busseltonmail to feature in our galleries.
17.01.2022 Fantastic news for the grand old Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse - shes been named a finalist in the Western Australian Heritage Awards. The lighthouse was built in 18...95 to keep mariners safe, along with three limestone cottages for the lighthouse keepers and their families to reside. In December last year, one of the cottages was transformed into an interactive time capsule - a mini museum filled with artefacts, animated technology and fascinating stories of the families who once lived at the tallest lighthouse in mainland Australia. Its this wonderful, compact musuem, the Lightkeepers Cottage Interpretive Centre thats up for the award, and well worth putting on your must visit list along with a guided lighthouse tour. Winners will be announced next week - so fingers crossed for Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, and best of luck to all the finalists. Tim Campbell Photo
16.01.2022 Yesterday at Lake Cave a young quenda came bustling out of the bushes when a cave guide accidentally pronounced quenda wrong (its taken from the Noongar lang...uage) After a firm correction she was on her way back into the bush to pose for photos and forage for food. Check out the video in comments The doline is the perfect sanctuary for quendas thanks to sheer walls and a lack of predators. And while these quendas are supposed to be nocturnal and shy, this one just loves popping out to greet guests. According to cave guides you have a 50/50 chance of seeing it and getting a picture on a Lake Cave tour - just another reason to holiday here this year and #DoitinWA! 12.01.2022 There has been a strange feeling across the Margaret River region this last week or so. A cutting back and forth of emotions, government announcements and busin...ess adjustments, and a realisation of the arbitrary nature of life. Between this, there was a strong sense of what this community is made up of generous, empathetic, and creative people adapting to this new (and hopefully short-term) state. There were moments of connection by way of a chat with the local grocer, or a nod of solidarity with a stranger at sunset which were sure were felt by all locals and visitors still here. These are improbable times. But from what were hearing, the community is stepping up. For now the Margaret River region is looking a bit less like long table lunches and bustling events, and more like takeaway services from those same foodie diners, creative cleansers happening online with live streaming of conferencing, and wineries turning grapes into hand-sanitiser. Travel is currently restricted between Western Australias regions with explicit instructions from the WA Police Commissioner to cancel any plans to travel down south. Wed like for you to think about the businesses in the region who will struggle in the weeks ahead, and consider postponing any plans rather than cancelling. We wish you were here. But we still feel were in this together. The community is adopting government policies around safety and social distancing, and working towards coming out of this sooner rather than later. There are lights in the distance, and there is hope. These strange days will pass, and the beautiful Margaret River region will once again be bustling with happy holiday makers enjoying our pristine beaches, star gazing the night sky, exploring the caves and making wonderful holiday memories. Until then well share inspiration for your next trip plus information about businesses providing essential services. 10.01.2022 Theyre back! Thousands of whales migrate through Geographe Bay from August to December each year. Dylan Dehaas Films spotted this southern right mother and ...calf in the shallows off the coast of Dunsborough. Still critically endangered with a global population of around 5,000, female southern right whales can have a calf every three years. See these gentle giants in Geographe Bay throughout spring as you #wanderoutyonder. Jump aboard a whale watching charter or head to a land-based lookout such as Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, Busselton Jetty or Point Piquet.
