24.01.2022 Most pads and tampons are made from a combination of ingredients. You might think it’s just cotton, but, unless it’s 100% organic cotton, you can bet it’s not. Most conventional tampons are made using polyethylene, polypropylene and rayon. And even if the tampons are 100% cotton it’s often grown with the use of pesticides. (Organic cotton is grown without pesticides). Tampons can also be contaminated with highly toxic dioxins and furans from the chlorine bleaching process ...(just thinking about that for a momentchlorine bleachingin your vagina). What’s more, the non-organic cotton contains pesticide residue and other chemicals from fragrances. Exposure to dioxins and furans has been linked to cancer, reproductive harm, endocrine disruption and allergic rashes. And while the FDA in the US recommends tampons and pads are made free from dioxin and pesticide residues, this is not mandatory for the manufacturers. Instead, tests repeatedly show that dioxins and pesticides are found in tampons. Manufacturers can claim all they want that these toxins aren’t in a high enough quantity to cause harm, but they haven’t actually studied the impact of putting dioxin and pesticides into your vee-jay for days on end, each month, for several decades. Imagine if we just studied the impact of one cigarette. Well, of course, they’d be fine. A little chemical exposure, fine apparently. But over a prolonged period of time? Not so good for us. Organic cotton is made from cotton without the use of pesticides. Better for your hoo-ha and better for the environment. See more

18.01.2022 I know we’re all about periods here but I want to talk about else something related to vjays. Queefing. Or fanny farts. Or whatever other high brow name you have for them. Firstly. Super normal. Secondly. We’ve all done them. They happen in yoga (keep reading for a personal account...), during/after sex or just in general life. Especially after babies. ... Thirdly. If you do them frequently it could be due to a loose pelvic floor. So following on from my previous post about pelvic floor physio therapy it might be something to consider. I once did a series of queefs in a dead quiet yoga class. We’d just done shoulder stand and went into some standing tia chi. Some air had obvs gotten up there while upside down and as I stood to do the moves it slowly came out, like a balloon being let out slowly. Much embarrassment. It was years ago and I was mortified. Now I’d probably turn to the girl next to me and laugh and joke that we all do it from time to time. Then stand with my legs clenched together cause it’s still mortifying! #queef #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloorphysio #fannyfart #keepitreal #vagina #yogainspiration See more

18.01.2022 #challengeaccepted #womensupportingwomen These are my four grandmas. I’m posting them instead of a photo of myself because they symbolise to me what the goal of this social media movement is, lifting up women and championing them. These women have encouraged me, believed in me and taught me how to be strong and independent in the world. I’m grateful to have women like them in my life. Let’s remember why this trend started. To talk about empowering women, and shine a light o...n situations where women are violated because of their gender. Thank you to all the incredible tribe of women in my life. I went through some medical stuff recently and it was the tribe of women - their encouragement, belief and good vibes - that got me through. 17.01.2022 Four years ago I realised my periods were giving me some feedback about my body. So I started working on balancing my hormones. These behaviours have now become my lifestyle and I feel so connected and empowered with my body. It can be overwhelming at first, getting to know our hormones and cycle. There’s so much to learn. But when we understand how cyclical we are and start to live in sync with that, it just makes sense. So here are some of the ways I take care of my... hormones everyday. I eat a lot of veggies. They help balance the body and detoxify toxins and excess estrogen. I meditate everyday to keep my stress and anxiety at bay. Stress is a major factor in hormonal imbalance. Move my body. I get some vitamin d and earth everyday. What do you do to take care of your hormones? I’d love to hear! #menstruation #menstrualcycle #period #periods #womenshealth #menstrual #menstrualpad #periodproblems #periodsarenormal #periodssuck #periodsbelike #periodstories #periodswithoutshame #menstrualhygieneday #menstrualhygiene #periodbox See more

16.01.2022 When was the last time you tuned in to yourself? Listening to your longings or jotting down recurring thoughts during our periods is a great way to understand what is going on for us. 11.01.2022 Self-care tip: get some vitamin D today. When you’re outside in the sun your body makes vitamin D. Which is good because it plays an important role in women’s health. It plays a critical role in bone health. ... It supports the immune system and may help prevent prolonged or excessive inflammatory responses. Promotes cardiovascular health and regulates blood pressure. May help prevent depression and mood disorders. Can help treat seasonal affective disorder (winter depression). in pregnancy low levels are linked to pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes and other pregnancy complications. The best way to get more vitamin D is spending time in the sun without sunscreen for about 10 minutes. (Please use your common sense and remember your sun safety! Don’t spend hours in the sun without protection!). You can also eat vitamin D rich foods like wild-caught salmon, sardines, mushrooms and beef eggs. Taking vitamin D and calcium work well together and it helps with calcium absorption. Check with your doctor your vitamin D levels and ask them for a supplement recommendation. 09.01.2022 Our seasonal boxes are now available. You'll get tea, chocolate and three boxes of tampons delivered every 3 months. I created these boxes because it's so important that we take care of ourselves, especially when we're perioding. Many of us push through, rushing around and meeting deadlines. But what we actually need is some rest and self-care. Even if only for a few minutes to sip a cup of tea and have a bit of chocolate between meetings or while the kids are asleep. ...
