12.01.2022 Explaining & educating clients is a very important aspect of being a groomer. It’s very hard to have a perspective and understanding of a grooming procedure without being one yourself. So many people judge a groomer by there end result but not how they got to it. It is so important as a pet owner to give understanding & trust to your groomer to help give your pet the most comfortable expirence. Sometimes this involves some sacrifice. Just because one groomer can get your pets... feet perfect and another one can’t doesn’t make the other groomer a bad groomer. In most cases it would mean that your groomer has put your pets comfort above your wants. It means that groomer cares more about your pets well being than the superficial looks. A good groomer wants your pet to look there best too but a better groomer wants your pet to feel better first. Grooming is not something that comes natural to most dogs it’s something that they adjust too and every dog is different most especially when they begin to age this is where it is most important that you adjust to your dogs needs and have an understanding that your pet is not going to look like a puppy anymore it might mean your pets ears need to be shaved because he or she is prone to ear infections now or a groomer can no longer shave your dog because the skin has become so fragile with age and it puts them at risk. Finding yourself a groomer that grows and adjusts with your dog to there needs and not yours should be your priority because the dogs comfort should always come first regardless of what you would like your dog to look like. Here is a photo of an old client I have been reunited with 14 year old ex show cocker Tyson who is so tolerant and accepting of grooming regardless of his age but his parents have an understanding that even though he may allow for a beautiful long cocker trim even though he might sit through being brushed and combed out they realise that it simply would not be comfortable to put him through that. There is nothing that I love more than making your pets look beautiful and making you all happy but there are times that this needs to be put aside and your pets humanity comes first because they cannot do that for themselves only I can.
